IN FLAMES Bassist Says Tour With SEPULTURA Is Going 'Really Well' - Mar. 21, 2006
HardcoreSounds.net recently conducted an interview with IN FLAMES bassist Peter Iwers. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

HardcoreSounds: You started your tour with SEPULTURA and CRUCIFIED BARBARA two days ago from Oslo. How has the chemistry between SEPULTURA been so far?

Peter: "Really well. They have been around so long and we have been around quite long so everybody knows the deal on tour. There ain't no rock stars and everybody acts nice. We are good friends with their fill-in drummer Roy [Mayorga] because he used to play in SOULFLY and we toured with them so everybody is really cool and relaxed."

HardcoreSounds: It has been one month since the day "Come Clarity" saw the daylight. What were your expectations towards the record and did it fullfill what you were expecting from it?

Peter: "I never expect anything. When we did the record we did what we always do. We write music to please ourselves. Just us five and nobody else. When it was done it took almost a year when it was released. So we were just happy it was out finally. There were no big expectations as far as sales or anything. Just hope that the people would appreciate it and it seems that they have."

HardcoreSounds: Tell us a bit of the recording process of "Come Clarity". Compare the recording process to your recording process of "Soundtrack To Your Escape" album?

Peter: "As you might know the latest couple of records we travelled somewhere to record and to rehearse it and that had a big impact on those records because we got sealed up. We turned off all cell phones etc. when we were jamming. Basically escaping from reality. This time we did exactly the opposite. I stayed at home, Jesper Strömblad stayed at home and we did the guitars and bass in our own studio. Anders and Daniel went to Uppsala to Dug-Out studio. When everything was recorded and we had the keys done, we sent everything up to Umeå called TonTeknik and they mixed it up and send it back to us. We changed some stuff and sent it back to them."

HardcoreSounds: How do you compare the sound of "Come Clarity" to your previous albums?

Peter: "Every time when we make a new album we add something more. We had like recipe how we write and each time we do we add more ingredients so basically we wanted to do a more uptempo record. Guitars little bit more upfront and put the keys in the back. It came out perfectly, I think. 'Come Clarity' is like a mix of all of our records. Subconsciously we ended up there."
