DEICIDE Kicked Off HELLFEST Due To French Grave Desecrations

According to the official Hellfest web site, DEICIDE have been dropped from this year's French festival bill due to circumstances very much out of their control. It seems that the events organizers got the jitters and bowed to local government pressure to have Glen Benton's satanic death metal outfit removed from the ironically named Hellfest after graves were desecrated in Nantes, France.
Here is the official Hellfest statement about DEICIDE:
"Because of what went on in Brittany during the last few months and this cemetery profanation, we must cancel the band DEICIDE to be sure not to have any problems regarding the festival. We are looking for a band that can replace them and we'll keep you informed very quickly."
Commented Sven Letourneur, joint editor-in-chief of France's Hard Rock magazine: "In fact, I read about it in the news, a few idiots, probably kids, profanated a cemetery near Nantes and wrote 'When Satan Rules His World' on one of the tombs... The authorities found that it was a DEICIDE song title, so news went out in the media, etc”.
Le Telegramme newspaper ran with a front-page story in its February 11 edition with the headline "Sur La Piste Des Satanistes" (On the track of the Satanists) containing this excerpt: "'When Satan Rules His World' is the exact title of a song from an American death metal band, an extreme music style that comes from hard rock, that appeared in the '80s and with lyrics that deal about everything that's morbid and gore. Name of the band: DEICIDE. Quite explicit...
DEICIDE are currently at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida with producer Jim Morris recording their most blasphemous album ever, "The Stench Of Redemption", which is due for release on June 6 on Earache Records.

The ignorance shown by both the french organizers, as well as a number of users @ Blabbermouth clearly shows, that independent thinking isn't a given just because you can communicate.
Deicide have nothing to do with the desecrated graves?! Why slag them off for that? Or slag them off for being kicked off the bill??!!!
Deicide remain one of the biggest death metal outfits of all time, even though their latest releases have been below par - compared to the classic, unholy trinity of 'Deicide', 'Legion' and "Once Upon The Cross'.
I say pity the fools in France. Pity the fools in here who use it as a lame excuse to bash Deicide. U know nothing, and bathing your ignorance in the limelight of the internet won't be doing your name or reputation any good. U are weak and stupid.
Better luck next time. Lets hope Deicide get a fair chance to play some shows anyhow...

As for rubthebuddah's ignorant comments(and other, similar ones): what the fuck do you know about soldiering? As Das Schuetzenfest said, check out the Battle of Verdun. Better yet, read John Keegan's "The First World War", assuming you can read at that level. From what I've seen here, most of you need to pick up a book or two about history, ANY history, and start reading before you put your feet in your mouths. Or maybe just any book, period.
As for grave vandals: socially-marginalized losers. Who gets up in the morning and says "Gonna desecrate me the grave of an old woman"? That pretty much shows how much free time these jobless pissants have. The connection to Deicide? As usual, metal gets the blame, connection or no.

Yes, I do know that Satanism is a cult of mostly middle-schoolers who didn't get enough attention as youngsters.
Here's the thing: If they really have a religion that they actually believe in, then I can respect that. What I poke fun at are the losers that claim to be Satanic just to shock everybody.
The other problem I have is when those same losers constantly rip on other religions then claim others to be intolerance when their own comes under attack (RE: Isaac Hayes from South Park on Scientology).

I completely agree with you. It's not God that most mean to blaspheme, it's what other people say that God is that they make fun of.
I really don't have a problem whatsoever with this band, I just like to troll the threads and see what kind of nonsensical rebuttals I get. That's ironic because it's the same tactic I accuse the band of in my last argument. Like I said, this is all for fun, but I really do love the debate sometimes. To be honest, my sparring partner, Mask oF Sanity, actually argued his point most valiantly. There's not a "winner" or "loser" between us because neither one of us actually care.
You have to be careful what you say around here, or you'll get your ass banned and your posts deleted, like my all-time favorite Blabber-Poster, Ken Hawk.
