GODSMACK: New Album Track Listing Revealed

GODSMACK have revealed the official track listing for their new album, "IV", due on April 25 via Republic/ Universal. The album’s first single, "Speak", has been posted online in streaming audio format: Windows Media, Real Media. "IV" track listing: 01. Livin' In Sin 02. Speak 03. The Enemy 04. Shine Down 05. Hollow 06. No Rest For The Wicked07. Bleeding Me 08. Voodoo Too 09. Temptation 10. Mama 11. One Rainy DayBest Buy and Target will carry exlusive versions of the CD. Copies of the album purchased at Best Buy will include the bonus track "Safe And Sound". "IV" CDs purchased at Target will include the bonus track "I Thought". In a recent interview with MTV.com, GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna had the following to say about the follow-up to 2003's "Faceless": "It's a killer record, and I'm really curious to see what the public's going to think of it. It's still GODSMACK — I don't think it's lost the integrity of what GODSMACK has built our career off. The toughness of the sound is still there. But we've expanded a little bit more. After 'Faceless', we started to spread our wings a bit and reintroduce guitar solos and stuff like that. The acoustic record [2004's 'The Other Side'] was a departure and it was very well received. It opened up a new audience for us — a lot more adults were coming to the shows, bringing their kids and having a glass of wine. That gave us a permission slip to take it to the next level. "It will perk people's eyebrows up again," he added. "The first couple of records were kind of the same record, in a sense. They were sort of bordering that metal sound and then the third record had more rock mixed into it. [ 'The Other Side'] really softened up the sound. This one is more rock and roll, and some songs are very epic, in a TOOL [-ish] sense. Some songs are like old-school GODSMACK, like 'Bad Religion'. It's going to service the core fans and introduce some new music to those fans. It's also going to recruit a bigger and broader audience, because the songwriting has matured so much." Other songtitles expected to appear on the CD include "Livin' in Sin", "Shine Down" (which comes complete with "killer harmonica") and "Voodoo Too". I like Godsmack. They're not Opeth or Meshuggah, but it's kickass hard rock music. Of course it sounds generic when you do rock and roll, but Godsmack has a signature sound within the genre. Like sunstyle said, they percussion adds a very cool flavor to this band.
The guitarist may be the most unoriginal instrumentalist in the band, but it's not terrible either.

good post mudvayne. Seems like any band on here thats made it big gets bashed. Even fucking Metallica, the kings of hard rock get bashed. People bash the lord of darkness, Ozzy. Its a fuken joke. Anything with melodic vocals gets bashed. Seems like we have a bunch of jealous morons running their mouths. Also, anyone who talks shit about our men and women taking bullets overseas are assholes. that have never been bashed - zeppelin, pink floyd. I know they are 70's bands, but its not bashing to point out weak spots in a bands current albums. criticism is not a bad thing. Godsmack just could have been a bit more thoughtfull in naming the songs ( perhaps they are too sheltered by managers , etc.) This is a great forum to discuss flaws as well as good points. The posts here are something like tv's neilson ratings, each comment represents thousands of others with the same opinion.

Since when is it a crime to use other band's song names? EVERY fucking band has done it. It's not a big deal. Get over it. And yeah, many of their songs sound similar, but at least they still sound damn good. I for one, will be getting this album. If you don't want to, you don't have to. are u joking? Ten Thousand Fists is one of the best albums i've ever heard...
Anyway, im really looking forward to the new Godsmack CD. I saw them live with Metallica October of last year and it is by far the best show i've ever been to...Speak lives up to what they have done before, wicked solo...to me a good song has a catchy tune, and this is exactly what Godsmack does...keep it up guys!

First off, for those of you bitching that Godsmack is ripping off Alice in Chains and Led Zepplin. Godsmack started out as an Alice in Chains cover band and Zepplin is a huge influence on the band. So it's not ripping them off it's remembering them and honoring their music. Second anyone who is willing to trade in 3 cord music for actual guitar playing and sounded lyrics for whining doesn't know a thing about music. All Kurt Cobain did was pave the way for Emo's. Nothing but whining and crying about not enough hugs. Listen to the music and to the lyrics before judging and I'm not talking about what's just played on the radio. Third. Anyone complaining about the music and is not a musician can shut the fuck up you know nothing and until you pick up an instrument or sing a lyric ( karaoke doesn't count ) you have no voice.
