KURT COBAIN Action Figure Coming In June

A new Kurt Cobain action figure, which features the striped sweater and stringy hairstyle the late NIRVANA frontman sported in his band's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video, will be available via NECA ( National Entertainment Collectibles Association) in late June. Check out photos of the figurine at the NECA web site: Photo#1, Photo#2. In related news, Seattle Weekly has published a lengthy exposé on Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, and her troubled family. Nirvana was a talented band, but they were overrated. Everything popular in this country becomes overrated, so there is nothing unique about them in that respect. The idea of a Kurt Cobain action figure is as lame as it is morbid.

Nirvana and other key Alternative bands, not just Cobain, completely erased 80s metal. Shit, they even played a part in making Metallica and Megadeth rethink their direction with Load and Lalapalooza. I think what you jealous fans hate about Kurt was he was the biggest rock star who didn't want to be a star and you it pisses you off that he didn't go the typical Metal/Rock band route of posing in Circus magazine or having elaborate stage shows like Kiss and he made the bands you followed looked pretty stupid in their make up and choreographed performances. Oh yeah, I'm sure Grohl said Nirvana was "Horrible," you're a fucking idiot.

Who's more technical Malmsteen or Iommi? Malmsteen. Who's got more talent? Exactly.
Kurt could write great songs. Most of those technical shredders can't write at all.
Talent=great songwriting. If you don't have that all the technique is the world can't save you.
The "Black Sabbath" or "Iron Man" riffs are incredibly simple, yet they kill ALL of the technical wankery in the world DEAD.

..how can you do this? He died 12 years ago, and now an action figure, that is so low... This is how you use dead people and make money off of them. The only thing that should be available is the music he created. Everything else created after his death is just a shame. does this toy not actually discredit the principles in which kurdt stood for? is this not really somewhat equivalent to twirling our fingers in what's left of his head? this is sick, this is false idolatry for the sake of profiteering off of someone's name. i will not even touch this, much less look at it, if i come across it in stores. i miss nirvana being around but i will not succumb to this sort of rubbish.
as for the weekly's expose, it was really nothing sensational or shocking. i did find it rather enlightening and interesting to read. i'd be up for reading her mother's book specifically because it is not meant as a mean-spirited tell-all. i think that courtney has been--and is still going through--enough terrible experiences (much of it from her own poor decision making) that she doesn't need more piled on her. this book seems (from how the article presents it) like a genuine attempt to set things straight from a mother's point of view. i enjoyed charles cross's writing in 'heavier than heaven' and it sounds like this book will be a fitting companion. i hope that things straighten out for courtney and i'm looking forward to her next musical offering.

I hate Nirvana I hate Cobain he was in my opinion a talentless piece of shit... his guitar playing sucked his voice was horrible greatest day in music history is the day he died. nirvana and cobain are both very over rated.. Kids who were not even around to really experiance the music or to remember hearing that he died are obsessed with the band and worship cobain.. its all cuz of magazines, hot topic for carrying countless Cobain tshirts and mtv for ALWAYS throwing his death down our throats every year.. Grow up, educate yourself.
Situate your musical taste in the economy of record labels and realise that grunge was simply another profitable trend.
It was not a matter of Grunge vs Glam, this was a matter of rewarding PROPER talent - how THRASH METAL was drowned out by the mainstream marketing forces lead by MTV (who exec's no longer saw thrash as a viable medium for maturing a growing MTV market).
In short, thrash stayed underground, corporate america found a fresh way to "reach out to America's disaffected youth," and the marketing was top notch (I'd fucking hope so with the amount of money spent).
Look at the results: vast amounts of units shifted, etc. And action figures of Cobain nearly 15 years. Something must have worked.. the trend really caught on, eh!?
Note: issue of talent was never resolved because it was never part of the agenda that Nirvana and grunge was part of: profit. Cobain was just another recognisable advertisement, Nirvana just another brand, Grunge just another set of laws governing product cycles.

nirvana was the greatest band of the 90's..for all of u people who listen to that heavymeatal shit..fuck yall..that shit sucks big balls!!FUCK EVERY NIRVANA HATER IN THE WORLD!!! kurt cobain was the greatest songwriter and poet of his generation, and still is today...nobody was bigger than nirvana in the ninties..no one even came close to even being a little bit as famous as nirvana.so for every one who says that nirvana sucks and that they were overrated..fuck yall and u all can go to hell for all i care...and i agree with whoisgod..i respect a person who goes out there and shows the talent he is proud of and loves to play..for all of u nirvana haters..i bet u all r just mad cuz ur sucky little bands are not and will never be as famous as nirvana was!!!
