JIMI HENDRIX Woodstock Footage To Be Shown In Boston
- Mar. 27, 2006
|
|
TheRockRadio.com is reporting that a salute to JIMI HENDRIX, including his "Woodstock" performance and an all-star jam, will take place next week in Boston. The family-owned Experience Hendrix LLC has arranged for the newly released "Jimi Hendrix Live At Woodstock", which is the most complete visual record of Hendrix's set at the festival, to be shown at the Axis nightclub near Fenway Park. Following the show, a question-and-answer session will be held with latter-day Hendrix bassist Billy Cox and longtime Hendrix engineer and producer Eddie Kramer. The night will end with an all-star tribute with Cox, former STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN & DOUBLE TROUBLE drummer Chris "Whipper" Layton, KID ROCK guitarist Kenny Olsen, former EARTH, WIND & FIRE guitarist Sheldon Reynolds, and others. Similar performances have been held at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland and the Experience Music Project in Seattle, among other places.

woodstock---the saddest thing about woodstock is that the doors WERE NOT INVITED--biggest party of the 60's, and the kings of head music were not invited cause they though jim would get naked--half the crowd turned out to be naked

Jimi...left handed genius that made the Strat into a weapon. Anyone remember those stories (may have started at Woodstock or Isle of Wight) that he put coke in his bandana and let it "soak in"? Wonder how much money has been wasted testing that little theory?
Woodstock was so bloated and big, that Jimi didn't get a good (for him) performance in. King Dino's right...better than nothing at all. RIP!

Hendrix Rules in so many ways.
The footage contained in this DVD set is complete, crisp and so worth every penny I can't say enough about it.
Truly captures every second of the performance from every camera angle possible. So much material that even the obsessed or devout fan will be beyond impressed.
Next to Rush's R30 release, this set comes in a very close second.
LONG LIVE JIMI!

Clapton is Jimi's bitch. Hendrix could play circles around Clapton and Clapton's so repetive it makes me puke. Creem was great and the Yardbirds were good but after that, it's the same crappy 4 bar blues. Just sucks.

I knew someone like JO317_06 would come along sooner or later. My rebuttal: First of all, your name. What in the fuck? Is that supposed to be l33t? Didn't anyone tell you? Blabbermouth is a l33t-free zone. And if that ISN'T l33t, and it's just incomprehensible for no reason, then fuck you. Second, i find it difficult to find anyone who can't take their hand off the shift button seriously. Ever heard of this thing called "lower-case letters"? Look into it. And third, your points. Dude, without Hendrix, Zepplin, and the like, the music YOU listen to would not even exist. At the very least, give em credit for inspiring YOUR favorite musicians to pick up their guitars and fuck shit up. And as for it "not catching your ear", I will have to assume you are deaf. If a song like Black Dog or Voodoo Child (or Number of the Beast) doesn't catch your ear, with their glorious guitar riffs and sizzling solos, you may as well turn in your rock-fan credentials right here.

JO317_06: I'm guessing that the only Jimi Hendrix song you've ever really heard was "Purple Haze" on your local rock radio station. Rock's history didn't exactly start with your favorite band Fall Out Boy, y'know.
Jimi Hendrix vs. Eric Clapton: Hendrix hands down because his more mellow-sounding material was still raw and full of emotion whereas Clapton's material has mostly been 20 different versions of "Tears In Heaven" written with new lyrics over the past 15 years. Clapton was a viable blues musician at his peak but as pointed out in other posts he's completely forgotten his roots over the years. Pat Travers and Frank Marino play rings around Slowhand even on their off days.
