ALICE IN CHAINS Tap COMES WITH THE FALL's DUVALL For European Tour - Apr. 5, 2006
The surviving members of ALICE IN CHAINS have tapped COMES WITH THE FALL vocalist/guitarist — and member of AIC guitarist Jerry Cantrell's touring band — William DuVall to sing lead vocals for the group on their upcoming European tour.

ALICE IN CHAINS recently reunited and have announced that they'll play some U.S. club dates and European festivals this spring and summer. Beyond that, however, the group does not have any set plans. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell told Launch that operating this way is nothing new for ALICE IN CHAINS. "We're gonna take it like we always did, and we've always kind of made it up as we've gone along," he said. "You know, if you were looking at how to really capitalize on this experience and really make dough and make it a profitable thing, a band might, you know, would come out with a singer, have a record ready and all that. But that's not where we're coming from with this thing. We're coming from the place of 'It feels good, and we're having a good time, so we'd like people to be a part of that.'"

Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney performed with DuVall and ex-PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo on March 10 at a taping of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!" Anselmo sang two songs with the group, while DuVall performed another two and dueted with HEART vocalist Ann Wilson on "Rooster".

This was only the second live show for ALICE IN CHAINS since 1996. The band members played at a tsunami relief benefit in February of 2005.

ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley died in April of 2002.

William Duvall is the perfect choice. I saw him perform with Jerry during the Degradation Trip tour. He is not a Layne wannabe. He brings his own style to the music. Let the music live on...I hope they tour the states

Hopefully, this works out for AIC. I've never heard Comes With the Fall, but I've been told that Duvall can sing Layne's vocal parts quite well. Hopefully, they'll come to Illinois this summer.

Look at new AIC website....they don't even have Layne....
the 1st pic was an OLD one of the 3 guys...but with Mike Starr...
(real nice)....new pic is just Jerry, Sean and Mike Inez....

Now we all aren't stupid....of course...Layne is gone....but the band said they are going out as "tribute" to LAYNE (plus fans). They hopefully will include Layne THIS TIME somehow??? Screen or pics...maybe something imaginative...HOPEFULLY....

All's I know is what is shown so far......Hmmm Hmmm....LAYNE SURE ISN'T PRESENT...oh right, Inez said they can FEEL him....ok...sure, that's good enough.

This whiny squeel idiot is going to be singing with them. Please god rid us of this taint before they do a fullblown US tour. I've seen him with Jerry and I will continually blast this decision. The dude does not harmonize well. He ruins alice songs with his ear piercing off key crap. I am dissappointed beyond belief if this is true. They can do so much better. DUVALL SUCKS FUCKS.
And of course these little comes with the fall groupies are gonna bash me for what I have to say. As an alice fan, I have my opinions and I'm sure others who are fans of alice will bitch when they hear this idiot.

I think what they should do is have Jerry be the lead singer and guitar player, and have this Duvall guy do Jerry's old parts, so it's not so big of a replacement...

First, Thin Lizzy reunite without Phil, then there was The Doors (Of the 21st Century), and most recently this horrible Queen/Paul Rodgers tour... and now an AIC reunion tour without the departed Layne.

Goddammit, what is wrong with these people! Why must they do this?

I've never understood why Cantrell didn't just do the singing himself. He sounds just like Layne. Cantrell does a great job on Bogy Depot. Heck, even when Layne was alive they should have gotten rid of the head case.

Riding_the_Storm, these bands continue on because the public totally overrates lead singers. I've yet to see a singer (that can't play guitar) come up with a killer guitar riff.

I MISS THE ORIGINAL ALICE BUT I SURE AS HELL DON'T EXPECT SEAN, MIKE AND JERRY TO JUST SIT AT HOME THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AND CALL IT A DAY. WILLIAM'S GOOD ALTHOUGH HE'S NO LAYNE, HE CAN HANDLE HIS OWN. ACTUALLY WILLIAM'S A BAD ASS FUCKIN ROCKER IN HIS OWN RIGHT(GUITAR AND SINGING-FOR A 3 PIECE BAND COMES WITH THE FALL IS FUCKING LOUD!). I'LL DEFINITELY CHECK THEM OUT. LAYNE-YOU'RE STILL REMEMBERED...
