JUDAS PRIEST To Create Conceptual Album Based On Life Of NOSTRADAMUS - Apr. 7, 2006
JUDAS PRIEST have announced that they are creating their first conceptual album based upon the life and predictions of Nostradamus. The CD will be theatrically staged and performed in its entirety as an epic musical by JUDAS PRIEST.

JUDAS PRIEST made their only live appearance of 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England on March 31. This was a special performance in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity and was a tribute to Tommy Vance (U.K.'s "Friday Rock Show") who passed away last year.

JUDAS PRIEST's "Rising in the East" DVD was recently certified gold in the United States by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 50,000 copies. The DVD was released in the USA and Canada on November 15, 2005. The disc was filmed in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive JUDAS PRIEST lineup — vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis — played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album "Angel of Retribution", their first new material in 15 years. "Rising in the East" is JUDAS PRIEST's first straight-to-DVD release.

Columbia/Legacy has just released JUDAS PRIEST's vintage concert DVD "Live Vengeance '82", which was previously only available on DVD as limited-edition bonus with "Metalogy" box set.

This is Priest with Halford! Did they ever make a plain *bad* song? I can think of only one, "Lochness". What the hell were they thinking? Besides that, rock on!

Am I the only one?

I love Priest, but part of me is nervous about this...well, we'll see.

redrumloa - admit it, they have more than a few bad songs (and again, I love Priest):

- Parental Guidance
- Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy Days
- You Say Yes
- All The Way
- Don't Go
- Evening Star (sounds like Boston)
- I'm a Rocker

I'd worry about just how bad it's going to blow. But since it's Priest I'll just hope for the best. These guys have talant on a cosmic level.
And I have to add that the folks who have already lobbed the word "gay" out there are idiots with no valid opinions.

...and the Band appears to be out of touch. Their lyrics are just plan irrelevant - Ram It Down onwards (even Turbo had some of the cheesiest lyrics ever written) - they've just sucked. I can't believe this is the same band that produced British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders - not to mention Sin After Sin and Stained Class. Now they're doing a concept album about Nostra-fucking-Damus?! Its just as irrelevant as the fucking Lochness monster. Read a fucking newspaper Roberto or get someone else to write your fucking lyrics pisshead.

Find me a band who doesn't have suspect lyrics/songs in their catalog...especially one that's enjoyed a 30+ year career. And what's with the twats ragging on Priest? Fucking Priest? I suppose Sabbath blows goats too right? Morons...

To me...this idea sounds cool as hell. Priest will deliver as usual...

And epac...pretty fair list...but I fucking love "Don't Go" and "Evening Star"

JUST THE TOPIC OF NOSTRADAMUS WOULD HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH MATERIAL TO WRITE SONGS ABOUT PLUS SUBJECT MATTER OF HIS PREDICTIONS. PRIEST IS ONE OF THE FEW METAL BANDS THAT COULD PULL SOMETHING LIKE THIS OFF AND WITH THE KICK ASS METAL THEY ARE KNOWN FOR. I THINK IT'S A BRILLIANT IDEA!

Why am I thinking "SPINAL TAP"?

I loved this band back in the late 1970's-early 1980's, but lost interest when "Defenders of the Faith" was released. As far as I'm concerned they lost it on that album. But everything before that was awesome. My fave Priest album is "Sin After Sin" - great drumming and Rob's voice was at it's peak.

As an old school fan I was disappointed to see them jump on the speed-metal-thrash sound of heavy rock (their most recent drummer, Scott, overplays his 1/16 note double bass pedals and makes alot of their songs sound the same - rhythmically). I'd like to see them dump the power-speed-metal and get back to their bluesier roots, yet still remaining very heavy.

And, oh yeah, drop the "devil" shit. It's way old and been overdone a thousand times....it's gotten to the point where it's cliche and cheesy.
