WHITESNAKE To Begin Recording New Album Later In The Year - Apr. 7, 2006
WHITESNAKE are hoping to start recording songs later in the year for a new studio album, tentatively due late spring/early summer 2007, according to frontman David Coverdale.

Coverdale recently put the finishing touches on the vocals for the four new songs that the band will be adding to their upcoming double live album, tentatively due later in the year. The set is currently being assembled and the group are preparing to begin the mixing process. If all goes well, WHITESNAKE may even perform one of the songs on their upcoming tour, which is scheduled to kick off in early May in Japan. European dates will follow through early July. At the moment, no U.S. shows have been scheduled.

According to Coverdale, three of the new songs are "balls-to-ze-walls rockers" while one is a "mid-tempo power ballad." Coverdale is also tentatively planning on releasing a video compilation featuring all the WHITESNAKE clips, the COVERDALE/PAGE videos and as-yet-undisclosed "not-so-well-known" footage.

WHITESNAKE recently issued their first single-disc retrospective via Hip-O/Geffen/UMe. Entitled "The Definitive Collection", the CD spans nearly every studio album issued by WHITESNAKE, including their pre-U.S. fame LPs "Snakebite" (1978, with the band's first hit, "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City"), "Lovehunter" (1979, with "Walking in the Shadow of the Blues" and "We Wish You Well"), "Ready An' Willing" (1980, with the title track) and "Come An' Get It" (1981, with "Don't Break My Heart Again"). Sykes was not around when Whitesnake played in front of millions from 87-90. There was a Whitesnake before & after Sykes. Where is Sykes now? In "Thin Lizzy". His last solo album sucked bigtime. Yes he WAS a big part of WS but catch the new DVD & live act & you will change your song. Also it's LEGEND!

I'm looking forward to a new album. this lineup will record an awesome album! I agree Restless Heart was an excellent album even though it was very slow and melodic. This will also be the first new album with two guitariasts on it since saints and sinners. Doug aldrich and reb beach have such a great chemistry on stage together. i hope the new album has the same power as the 87 album. i hope this new album is really hard and slammin!
