QUEENSRŸCHE Shopping 'Operation: Mindcrime' Screenplay To Hollywood Studios - Apr. 7, 2006
MTV.com is reporting that QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 conceptual masterpiece, "Operation: Mindcrime", will be getting the big-screen treatment, according to frontman Geoff Tate. He said the band has hired a screenwriter to adapt the LP into a feature film, and that they're in the midst of shopping it to Hollywood studios. "I worked over the last year and a half with a Hollywood screenwriter named Mark Shepherd," Tate said. "He developed a screenplay out of the story. It's incredible; I hope that it can be made into a movie soon. Our agency is shopping it around Hollywood. I think it's going to be an incredibly powerful film. It starts with one part, and then we have plans for a sequel as well." The band's latest disc, "Operation: Mindcrime II", hit stores this week.

Longdistancerunner is speaking from a bias I am sure. To say that Queensryche only had one good album and are a mediocre band is foolish. I wonder what he thinks that one good album is. As for them being a medicore band, well they were the ones that created (along with Fates Warning) prog metal, but they succeeded where Fates failed, which is, they brought prog metal to the the forefront. A mediocre band, NO, innovators!

Feel free to stop talking about them any time. But there are plenty of people on here who are interested, and who do want to talk about them - this doesn't mean that you have to.

This may - MAY - have been a possibility back with Mindcrime I. Now - holy shit you've got to be kidding me. Mindcrime II is far from bad but it's such an obvious depseration move.

I think next year Metallica is going to release The Black Album II.

I have always thought this would make a good movie. They should keep it along the lines of how Waters and Alan Parker did "The Wall": surreal, gritty, and with flashes of sick animation.

I will go see this movie.

I think they should skip the Mindcrime movie, but produce a Hollywood epic based on the "Queen of the Ryche" video.

That has BLOCKBUSTER written all over it. Semi-naked chicks with lasers, guys with mullets being frozen....it's got it all!

Can't say I know the story behind Mindcrime, but this sounds like a cool idea. It could potentially have a killer soundtrack too.

Here is your original post:
THE ONLY GOOD ALBUM THESE GUYS HAD WAS THERE 1ST - WITH QUEEN OF THE RIECH ON IT. THE REST IS JUST 80'S BULLSHIT - SAW THEM OPEN FOR METALLICA DURING IN JUSTICE DAYS. THEY WERE " ACTING LIKE "BIG GAY ROCKSTARS.

I will now translate it into ENGLISH:
The only good album these guys had was their first, with "Queen Of The Reich" on it. The rest is just 80s bullshit. I saw them open for Metallica on the "...And Justice For All" tour. They were acting like big, gay rockstars.

Do you see the difference, you illiterate moronic twit? You obviously do not know a great band from a hole in the ground, besides which you have NO command of the language whatsoever. Go back to fourth grade, listen to the teacher this time, THEN maybe you will have at least SOME ability to rationally and cogently criticise anything. For now, you
need to stick to Sponge Bob and Dora The Explorer until you get a little more knowledge and linguistic skills under your belt.

I bought Mindcrime II and am enjoying it greatly. I hope (even though I have doubts) that they get this movie project off the ground, and do it in a BIG way! Mindcrime is a story worthy of cinematic treatment.

I am glad to see that there are others that are enjoying OM II as much as I. People sem yo have a hard time with Geoff Tate. He does have an ego, but many have said that he cannot be replaced. I have a replacement. I suggest Tony Martin! Check out Black Sabbath Headless Cross, you will hear a man that can sing and handle Tates Theatrics!

"I think next year Metallica is going to release The Black Album II."

Well they already did "The Unforgiven II"

I second the idea to do MC I like "The Wall" with animation. Just regular cel animation not CGI. Adult CGI movies like "Final Fantasy" seem to flop big time.

As far as MC II the first half is pretty good but then it loses steam. It's about 3 songs too long. Best track is "Re-arrange You" in my opinion.
