ALICE IN CHAINS: U.S. Club Tour Kick-Off Date Announced - Apr. 7, 2006
ALICE IN CHAINS have confirmed that they will be playing a series of U.S. club dates starting on May 18. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

As previously reported, ALICE IN CHAINS have selected William DuVall to sing lead vocals with the group on their upcoming U.S. club tour and subsequent European trek.

DuVall performed two songs with the reunited ALICE IN CHAINS last month in New Jersey at a taping of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!".

Guitarist Jerry Cantrell told Launch that he'd also like to see other musicians perform with the reactivated group, who are touring in honor of late singer Layne Staley. "The door's open to invite anybody," he said. We'd like anybody to be a part of it. There's tons of guys that we love and that Layne loved, you know, that we'd love to be a part of this on a part-time basis."

DuVall, who sings and plays guitar in COMES WITH THE FALL, has also sung ALICE IN CHAINS material as part of Cantrell's solo touring band.

Guest singers who have jammed with the members of ALICE IN CHAINS during the past year include TOOL's Maynard James Keenan and former PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo.

The band will begin its European tour on May 26 in Lisbon, Portugal. A full list of dates can be seen at AliceInChains.com.

They aren't trying to replace Layne.

That's why they went with William. And Phill. And all the other's who brought their own thing to song.

And it's what all the negative one's don't want to accept.

William does not tread upon Layne's memory. He respects it. You can see it when he sings those songs.

......VH1 Classic will be airing the Atlantic City-Taj Heart/AIC (reunion) Decades show BEFORE the tour kicks off.....first airing is scheduled for May 5 (schedule here: http://www.decadesrocklive.com/artists/heart.php )

Two AIC songs, plus the all star jam on Rooster will be part of that telecast, and William DuVall is singing on all 3 songs....so you can hear/see it first.....

Cantrell sang most of the stuff to begin with. The spooky harmonies and all. AIC couldn't even tour with layne cause he was always to fucked up. Sang fine but how are you gonna have a good career when you won't play live with your band? This tour is gonna rock and I hope that they continue with a new album after this. Glad you're back guys!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!

LAYNE "SANG" MOST OF THE STUFF NOT JERRY. Those spooky harmonies are LAYNE....If you were a fan, you would know the songs on ALL cd's -- NOT just radio songs.....Even JERRY SAID,
LAYNE came up with some really cool "voices"....THAT WERE ALMOST WRONG "but"...RIGHT!!!

LISTEN to Jerry's solo stuff -- he has a nice voice...BUT...he has absolutely,(sorry Jerry...but I speak the truth)...NO RANGE!!!!

...And...didn't you ever hear about "delivery"? It's not always the writer of the "joke" (for example), but HOW IT IS DELIVERED!!!! Layne was a BIG contribution....(plus...read your
cd insert....Layne also wrote many songs...lyrics...). LAYNE STOOD OUT......GUYS WANTED TO BE LIKE HIM......GIRLS JUST PLAIN OUT "WANTED HIM"!!!!!! Jerry & Layne MADE Alice TOGETHER!!!!! It is the TWO TOGETHER that MADE their sound and popularity!!!!

Jerry & Layne were the "heart" of AIC!!! Why must everyone always try to put one against the other.....One is better than the other on different things....which allow them to "EQUAL OUT" each other....The two together, (as far as band is concerned), were each others better half.

This is why a lot of fans worry about "new" "anything" from them. Will Jerry EVER get that "FEEL" with someone else again???? They had something unexplainable together that MOST people are not LUCKY ENOUGH to find EVER! (Maybe Jerry will or not....only time will tell........BUT....hopefully in trying, he will NOT ruin what he HAD!! Jerry's good at that....look at his obsession with Courtney...watch it Jerry!!!!

I know no one can replace Layne Staley in AIC but if there going to continue on , they need a much better singer then DuVall. I just can see this guy singing AIC songs. My opinion, the perfect guy for this job would be Ex-Union Underground singer Bryan Scott . He would be the perfect fit. The only problem, this guy is AWOL in San Antonio, TX..

Actually, the best fit at singer for this....(well, the guy who comes closest to pulling this off anyway, which admittedly would be damn hard to do) is Travis Bracht from Second Coming, another kick-ass band who hail from Seattle. It won't happen, but he comes the closest to replicating Layne of anyone I've heard. He may set in as a guest singer at some pont though...he's a huge fan. If you haven't heard them, check em out: http://www.secondcomingmusic.com They kick ass live too, no shit. I've seen them nail several AIC tunes in person.

the new singer dude can pull it off.

saw him, and he's able to pull off layne's parts without being a layne clone.

let's hope for some new music from them. cangtrell's got more to say, but i miss the high-end vocals on his solo stuff.

Don't be so quick to judge William without hearing him. He doesn't just sing AIC songs. He feels it. And he doesn't just tread on Layne's memory either.

The band got and is getting who they want to sing lead. William DuVall and other guest artists.
