DUFF MCKAGAN To Tour With ALICE IN CHAINS?
- Apr. 10, 2006
|
|
According to Rolling Stone magazine, VELVET REVOLVER/ex- GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan might go on tour this summer with the reunited ALICE IN CHAINS as the band's second guitarist. McKagan performed with ALICE IN CHAINS last month in New Jersey at a taping of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!" ( Photo#1, Photo#2). ALICE IN CHAINS wil kick off their first tour in a decade on May 18 in Los Angeles and continue with a series of surprise U.S. club shows before the band head over to Europe. "Everybody has disappointments in life, and we certainly had ours," said guitarist Jerry Cantrell, now reunited with bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney. "I just want to continue living life. We're having a great time." ALICE IN CHAINS have confirmed that COMES WITH THE FALL vocalist/guitarist William DuVall will sing lead vocals for the group on their upcoming run, along with a few "special guests." DuVall performed two songs with ALICE IN CHAINS at the "Decades Rock Live!" taping and he has also sung ALICE IN CHAINS material as part of guitarist Jerry Cantrell's solo touring band.

Geezer Butler and Lemmy Kilmister are the other reasons.

Grunge wasn't even genre of music, Grunge was just a label/fashion that was conjurned up by the twats at MTV. If anything is responisble for the downfall of metal, its glam because they where playing that crapola on MTV all the time.
Glam rock, means, Gay L.A. music.

First of all they never moved from L.A. to Seattle. Never lived in L.A. for that matter except Jerry Cantrell for the last few years. Second of all if you had listened to them you would hear that they didn't ride any "grunge" wave. They made a dark gloomy hard rock/ metal album called Facelift which was out in 1990 with most songs made in 1987-1989. Before the "grunge" sound was even exposed. Their next LP obviously follows up on their debut with even darker lyrics and a darker sound. I don't care if you hate the band but please keep your fucking facts right..... Grunge is just a stupid term invented by the media.... I mean come on the only band AIC really resembles from that time is Soundgarden and that is the metal sound they both have. Fucking Nirvana was much closer to punk and PJ was more in hard rock. Oh and Duff fucking kicks ass, good bassist and a fine songwriter !!! so you can just fuck off

Duff? Glam? Get real. Hell, Guns N' Roses wern't even Glam, they were Hard Rock...Poison and Warrant were glam.
As for this piece of news, it's rather cool but going under the Alice In Chains name seems a little wrong to me, but it's all good, i'll go and see them.

on vocals...at least that would capture the early AIC spirit a bit.
Chris is out of place in Audioslave and he kinda has the laid back vocalrange of Layne...he's an ex-addict too, so would make sense.
I disagree that Grunge sucks or isn't metal, albums like Dirt and BadMotorFinger were simply too good for conventional metal back then to follow; metallica, slayer, iron maiden...were past their 80s prime.

Definately has a good vocal range, but not the intense emotion of Layne... Not a perfect fit (cornell or mike patton would rule) but a respectful choice...

This whole VR thing is a mess. I love their music, but they're all over the place. As soon as Matt starting flapping his gums about dance fuckin trax, it didn't surprise me in the least to hear that Slash and VR were having all these problems.
I like dance music, just not from these five. Quit dickin around and play that balls to the wall I don't give a fuck rock music like you used to play back in the day. Just fuckin do it, it won't fuckin hurt you....unlike the rocks that you're smokin thinkin that dance tracks are the way to go for VR.
Sweet God, wtf is the rock world coming to?
