Original EXTREME To Reunite For New England Dates In June

Boston radio station WAAF has announced that original EXTREME members Gary Cherone (vocals, ex-VAN HALEN), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Paul Geary (drums), and Pat Badger (bass) will be reuniting for a show at the Bank of America Pavilion (formerly Fleet Pavilion) in Boston on Friday, June 30. Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, April 15 through Ticketmaster.com. Rumors online now include shows at Foxwoods in Connecticut (July 2, Sunday), and Casino Ballroom (Hampton Beach New Hampshire).
The Boston Globe reported in its March 25, 2006 edition that the original EXTREME lineup would likely be reuniting for a few New England dates this summer. It's been 16 years since the band scored a huge hit with ''More Than Words", and the boys have since scattered. Singer Gary Cherone now fronts a WHO tribute band, Bettencourt plays with former JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell's new band SATELLITE PARTY, drummer Paul Geary runs a high-powered management company in Los Angeles (with GODSMACK as one of its clients), and bassist Pat Badger, believe it or not, raises alpacas on a farm outside Boston.

I think 'Extreme' is a bad name for this band. I think they should change their name to "Lukewarm" or "Middle of the road".

This has to be one of the worst bands ever. I can't believe it says Gary Cherone (ex-Van Halen). He was in VH for what, 5 minutes? They made that album nobody bought & did that tour that nobody went to see. When I think of VH, Gary Cherone doesn't come to mind. Good Luck with your WHO tribute band...

is gary billy sheenan,paul gilbert,and mike pourtney.there only doing like 3 shows.pornograffiti and 3 sides to every story are kick ass cd's.the vh cd with gary only sucks because most of eddies music sucks on it.i think he ran out of idea's so fuck all you haters.i wonder how many of you acttually play an instrament and know what good music is?theres more to music than just the 4 or 5 bands you like you stupid fucks.

gary is not fronting a who tribute band, he is doing 3 one-off's as a tribute to the who... he put out a rock record a couple of years ago called tribe of judah (with badger on bass, mike mangini on drums), and is now experimenting with soul-pop (admittedly not my cup of tea, but you had tastes of it in extreme, as well as many other different styles, for the uninitiated who have only heard the two radio ballads)...
nuno is fronting the dramagods (formerly population-1)... the perry farrell project was something that was discussed at least over a year ago, but absolutely NOTHING has come of it (at least nothing released to the public)...
pat was also in a couple of other bands that didn't pan out, including 'supertransatlantic' with the guitarist from saigon kick (i forget his name)... i believe they got one of their songs on an american pie soundtrack, if memory serves, they followed up with an album and it went nowhere...
paul just sold his mgmt co. to a bigger company, but he's still involved in it and moved to l.a. because of the sale...
still hope they make this a proper reunion tour and do a bunch of dates...

These guys had a few solid songs and I'm not gonna slam them. But they were a opening band at best. I do remember hearing Kid Ego way back when and thinkimg it was pretty decent. Just because you have a killer player in your lineup does not always translate into that needed kick up to the next level.

They could reunite & play to 500 people at best in the same dive in every city; why bother? I liked Extreme back in the day & they did put on a good live show. Everyone knows Nuno can play, but at this point I would much rather see him come around with his Population 1 / Dramagods line up & jam his solo stuff. Between the Nuno album, Mourning Widows, Population 1, & the recent Dramagods, he has made some great music. Why play in states to the same guitar wankers at every show & struggle to make a buck when you can make a better live outside of the states where you have a legitimate following still?
