RONNIE JAMES DIO Has No Plans To Rejoin BLACK SABBATH - Apr. 14, 2006
Legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio's (BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) official web site has been updated with the following message:

"Just to put the BLACK SABBATH reunion rumors to rest, here is the inside scoop from Wendy Dio [Ronnie's wife/manager]: Ronnie was in the U.K. to do promo for the new 'Holy Diver Live' CD and while there, dropped in on Tony Iommi to kick around some ideas for the forthcoming box set, 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years'. We had previously mentioned that the two would be writing together as their respective schedules permitted.

"There are NO plans for Ronnie to rejoin BLACK SABBATH, and in fact, DIO is preparing for their European tour, which begins May 27 in Roselare, Belgium. Check the tour page for the entire schedule."

Dio recorded a total of three studio albums with BLACK SABBATH — 1980's "Heaven and Hell", 1981's "Mob Rules" and 1992's "Dehumanizer" — in addition to appearing on the classic live album "Live Evil" in 1983.

As previously reported, Eagle Rock Entertainment has set an April 18 North American release date for DIO's "Holy Diver Live" CD (one day earlier internationally). Captured live in 2005 in front of a sold-out London crowd, "Holy Diver Live" features the classic "Holy Diver" album in its entirety, from start to finish, recorded live for the very first time. It also includes, among others, "Heaven & Hell", "Sign of the Southern Cross" and "Mob Rules" from vocalist Ronnie James Dio's BLACK SABBATH days, "Tarot Woman", "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" from the RAINBOW era and "We Rock" from his solo career.

DIO's follow-up to 2004's "Master of the Moon" is expected before the end of the year.

Most people wouldn't stop to think about how profound this statement is. The ambiguity alone makes this comment phenominally interesting. Does he like RJD with Sabbath, or is he glad that there'll be no reunion at all? This answer, "fuck!", has taken everything we know about fact and painted it gray with pure enthusiasm.

Mr. Bundy, I enjoyed that post far more than I should have.

I'd really like to see another Dio?Sabbath record

BUT,

Wasn't a condition of the 1997 reunion that all members of the original lineup signed a contract that there would be no more reformations of Sabbath without Ozzy??

I believe that was Sharon's deal to allow the reunion to go forward.

It allowed them to tour for 8 years and rake in (at least for Bill, Geezer, and Tony) their retirement accounts.

I don't believe that Ronnie COULD "rejoin" Sabbath........

THE ULTIMATE SABBATH EXPERIENCE

Here's how it would work.

Each of the following sets would be an hour long.

First, Tony Martin would play his solo set. No Sab songs.
Up next, Ian could do his solo set, again No Sab songs but anything like Deep Purple and such.
Then, Dio could do his set sans Sab songs, even toss in a Rainbow tune or two but mostly solo.
Then, Ozzy could do his solo stuff with Zakk.

And for the finally, see where I'm going with this, each of them would come out and do about 4-5 Sabbath songs from their era from the order above, Tony, Ian, Dio and then Ozzy. Of course Ozzy would probably do more since his era is the most relevant and of course $auron would be involved. And then as the final song, they can all come out and sing John Lennon's Give Peace a Chance and play kissy face with each other.

Well, other than the last part, this could work. The logistics are possible and if they could get over themselves and look at the dollars involved and how much the fans would dig it. It would be fucking awesome. Everyone would be happy and no one would be too ego-fied.

Why would I say this?

Lets see.. in the sea of Ozzy's 'farewell' tours Sabbath was supposed to play with Dio as the lead.

Instead? I get Rob Halford (sp?) from Judas Priest. Although he did an awesome job, my 'dream come true' concert was totally fucked over. Instead of the evilest lil' man in rock, I get the hard rockin man who loves the cock?

Fuck indeed. Fuck Dio - he doesn't deserve to front for Sabbath.

fucking hilarious!

Anyway, on topic...

Dio fucking rules, unquestionably. I love that idea mentioned above of alll four singers doing some huge tour, but it could never happen - egos, legal matters, other hassle...just would never happen. Oh yeah, and you forget Glenn Hughes!
But what would be cool is if Iommi (with his solo band including Glenn Hughes), Gillan, Dio and Tony Martin were to do a tour together (kind of like the whole Sammy Hagar/Dave Lee Roth thing that happened a while back) and do their own sets and then come on towards the end and do some Sabbath numbers. Maybe even throw in GZR as well, have a well full on reunion!

Am I the only one that felt that Tony Martin was actually pretty good? True, some of the Martin-era stuff was a bit dire, but I always thought he was a pretty good singer - the only problem was that in Sabbath he was just a bit too unremarkable, after the likes of Dio, Gillan and Ozzy...

It's too bad that Dio and Sabbath won't do a new album together it would be killer...then again you never know, they are writing two songs together. We can only hope. As for Ozzy...the man is done, there's nothing left in his tank. Sharon is going to be the death of him end of story.

The Tony Martin era in my opinion was a good one. I really think the only reason the Martin albums were swept under the rug was (I think AxeMaster's post was trying to convey this) because Martin was not marketable, not good looking enough as a frontman. I truly believe if Ray Gillen would have stuck around Sabbath would have been much bigger he had the complete package. Sadly, this is the way the music business was back then people wanted to see a face, charisma and appeal. When Dio stepped in he was already established with Rainbow and there was no Mtv so his situation was different. I don't think things have changed much since then but this is my theory.

Sorry, bad taste joke.

That idea of the tour with all the singers. The massive egos would cruel that. I've got a better idea - a 12 minute song called 'Paranoid Iron Children of the Black Rainbow of the Grave.' It goes like this:
bass intro, Geezer, guitar riff Tony, verse 1 Ozzy, verse 2 Dio, chorus Glenn Hughes and Dio, verse 3 Tony Martin, chorus, verse 4 Gillan, solo etc.

Then all members can retire.

Seriously, if there were not egos involved, Sabbath should have made one more album with Ozzy before they quit. The reunion tour was 10 years ago. Iommi and Butler could have come up with one album worth of riffs, and Ozzy could've sung ok with some studio tricks to help his voice. They let the fans down by not doing that.

Dio sucks? Post an Mp.3 of your self singing so we can all here you sing. Anyone who says "Dio sucks" better be able to sing better then Rob Halford and Geoff Tate Combined.

People who seriously think Dio sucks obviously know nothing about singing or metal music in general, one Osbourne left the band Tony Iommi started writing better riffs and stopped down tunning, Tony Iommi also said that Heaven and Hell is his FAVORITE album.

Dio's lyrics are only the worst ever if you take them seriously. And I think if you do that, you're really missing the point. Dio is a showman, and he puts on a really great show... but I guess that's not "kvlt" is it?

But trust me, you won't feel ripped off if you go see him. Even though he's about 5000 years old now, he still wipes his ass with Ozzy's hair.

Need that shit to happen.
Dio (now) is better than Ozzy (of the present) because he does not need to read the lyrics from a tiny screen in front of him while singing. Ozzy does not really sing anyway. Kind of talks with a little rhythm with a mic in front of him.

Ozzy back in the day, just a little better than Dio from the Old Days. But, if Dio came before Ozzy than Dio would be better. Everyone understand what I am stating.
