GODSMACK Singer Says 'Speak' Is Perfect Intro To New Album

Launch Radio Networks reports: The members of GODSMACK say that their upcoming album, "IV" (Four), finds the band expanding its sound and pushing in new musical directions. That's why lead singer Sully Erna told Launch that the CD's first single, "Speak" ( video), is a perfect introduction to what the group has in store. "It was a great happy medium between the expansion of what we thought this record was gonna come out to be, and it was just a perfect first single," he said. "It didn't veer too much off, but yet it was still a bit broader from what we've written in the past. So it was a nice way to slide them into, like, 'Hey, GODSMACK's back, this is the new record, like, start paying attention 'cause here it comes.'" "IV" arrives on April 25. GODSMACK will begin a Canadian tour on June 10, followed by trips to Japan and Australia in July. The band doesn't plan to tour the U.S. until September, with dates expected to be announced in the coming weeks. GODSMACK will be the musical guests on the April 26 edition of NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and will follow that with an April 28 performance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

...i heard this album and i hate to say it but its pretty much just another GS album. I mean yeah there are a few songs that are a little different, but overall, its nothing great IMO.

I really liked their first album, and the other two are decent too. However, it is just starting to sound like the same song over and over.
They rule live though.

PLEASE. Garage bands throughout rocknroll history have kicked ass playing 2 chords. This should NEVER be a discussion here, especially from unsigned "musicians"
There are far more talented musicians in the Chicago underground train station than on the entire Roadrunner label, but these street musicians have none of the magnetic rocknroll magic that Sully's guys have.

Godsmack is just good shit! Thats all there is to say... Oh yeah, but they sold more than 100 copies of their cds, so most people on this site gotta talk shit... thats right, almost forgot...
Ya know people,sometimes it just comes down to songs. And Godsmack have a lot of kick ass songs.. like it or not... It doesnt always matter how fast, satanic, "different" or unknown something is. Its just about what kicks ya in the ass. Godsmack is great at kickin ya in the ass...

They weren't horrible to begin with but I never really liked them much. And I'd have to agree that every album is about the same sound. Not to mention they are about the most boring band I have ever seen, minus the drum solo.

I think Godsmack rock. They are a great rock band. I couldn't get with their faceless record and wouldn't even download that crap illegally. It's nice to hear some rock in between some metal or melodic death metal. I am glad they don't change their sound, because when they do they end up sucking so hard that when they try to reclaim their sound it just sounds like shit. a la korn, Metallica, etc.

Its got a lot of elements from their first two cd's along with some new stlyes sorta say all thrown into a great rock cd. This year is looking like a great year for Rock music . Only if AIC would do a new record. That would be a good tour. Have Sully pull of double vocal duties. Godsmack is heavily influeced by them and this new record surely shows that. "Speak is the weakest song on the record. Good tracks are "The Enemy" "Voodoo Too" " Tempation" "Bleeding Me." The cd's great pick it up when it comes out.

Godsmack on the other hand is about the music, the show, the fans....don't like it, get over it. Can't wait for the new album....These guys will be around forever

You know I've realized something... if a band keeps the same sound, they are accused of lacking originality, and if they change their sound, they get accused of selling out.
The new album is the Godsmack that I know and love so I enjoy it. You all need to stop whining about what you think bands need to be playing and just listen to the friggin music.
