Former
CARCASS frontman
Jeff Walker has sent the following update to
BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"My [solo] album,
'Welcome to Carcass Cuntry', has had the release date put back in the U.S. to 28th May.
WEA, who distribute
Lumberjack/
Mordam, have now objected to the sleeve and want to sticker it 'cos of the 'explicit content' — i.e. the word 'cuntry,' which, of course, can't be offensive as it's not even a real word and also because of the word 'fuck.' Oh, how shocking — I could have sworn that word was in the Oxford English Dictionary. Maybe that should have a parental warning, too? How ironic — I did a
JOHN DENVER cover in respect of the fact that he testified against the
PMRC and now my album's being stickered — an album upon which one of his songs appears! It will however be out in Europe on May 8th via my own imprint
In Grind We Trust available in all 'bad' record shops... It will also be released by
Irond Records in Russia. I'm now starting to think it would have been much cooler just to have the album released over there, ha ha!"
As previously reported,
Walker has launched a MySpace.com page at
this location. Included on the site are three songs from
"Welcome to Carcass Cuntry".
The CD, which consists exclusively of country and blues covers, will include tracks from such artists as
SKEETER DAVIS,
HANK WILLIAMS,
JOHNNY CASH,
CONNIE SMITH, and
JOHN DENVER — albeit with a metallic spin.

As previously reported,
Walker has tapped
Larry Welz from
Cherry Comics to create the original
art for his upcoming solo album.
"What I'm doing is kinda left of center to some extent,"
Walker told
Decibel magazine about the upcoming CD. "It's really not that original of an idea when you consider that [
SOCIAL DISTORTION frontman]
Mike Ness has already done a country-hybrid album. But I don't think anyone from a background like mine has done it, and done it with a bit of respect — not turning it into a piss take."
"Welcome to Carcass Cuntry" will include contributions from
H.I.M. drummer
Gas,
H.I.M. frontman
Ville Valo (bass/backing vocals), former
CARCASS guitarist/
FIREBIRD frontman
Bill Steer (lead guitar, harmonica, slide guitar, vocals),
AMORPHIS guitarists
Esa Holopainen and
Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), keyboardist
Santeri Kallio (keyboards) and bassist
Niclas Etelävuori (bass), ex-
FAITH NO MORE bassist
Billy Gould, and former
CARCASS drummer
Ken Owen.
"I like the irony of me doing a solo album and being the most untalented person on the album,"
Walker joked. "I could play the instruments half-assed, but I think it's better to recognize your own failings and get someone else in who could do it better."
