MEGADETH: New Album Recording Process To Be Filmed - Apr. 20, 2006
MEGADETH commenced the recording process for the follow-up to 2004's "The System Has Failed" on Wednesday (April 19) in a studio outside of London, England with producer Jeff Balding. Recording is planned to continue over the next two weeks with director Michael Sarna (who directed the band's "Of Mice And Men" video) filming the process. Exclusive clips will be available to MEGADETH Fan Club members.

In a recent interview with About.com, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine stated about the upcoming CD, "We're going to take a different approach to this record. I'm not going to say any more than that. I know what we're capable of doing. 'The System Has Failed' was a great comeback record, and I think this is going to continue claiming new fans and reintroducing ourselves to some old fans who may have gone to listening to other music."

MEGADETH's last CD, "The System Has Failed", has sold more than 175,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group, who were most recently signed to Sanctuary Records, were joined by bassist James Lomenzo (ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION) in February following the departure of James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).

Was pretty much pioneered by The Beatles about 35 years ago with LET IT BE. So the idea is certainly not original and MyTurdLicker is certainly not an original band by any stretch.

So if Dave wants to put the process to video and do some behind the scenes stuff for DVD, I'm sure his fans will dig it because he's got a really good band behind him now and sharing the experience is important to him and his fans.

It's just great to think about all the cool fucking metal that's coming out in the next few months.

TOOL
SLAYER
RUSH
MASTADON
JUDAS PRIEST
MEGADETH

It's going to be great. Can't wait for any of it.

Taking a new direction and reintroducing themselves to fans who listen to other types of musics. That sounds like the album is going to be softer than tshf. TSHF was an awesome album but itd be even better if they went harder. Hopefully the new album shreads

Megadeth made a video in 1994 called "Evolver" that chronicled the making of Youthanasia. They also recorded The World Needs A Hero sessions, though that footage hasn't seen the light of day (besides clips on Megadeth: Behind the Music).

It'll be continuous suckage all the way through with any input from anyone but Dave whos creative juices went with his drug and alcohol addiction. Megadeth isn't and will never be a force again. Dave cannot reach the levels he once did and I'm betting like the 80's and parts of the 90's Metallica's new one totally blows away Megadeth's new one or should I say MegaDave because Megadeth to me DIED when the last REAL megadeth member left the band (Dave Ellefson)

"Also starring Bob Rock and a therapist.

With cameos by Jasonic Newsted."

Since this is Mustain's project, maybe he can bring Lars in and shit all over HIM.

Then we can switch over to Dave screaming "FFFUUUCCCKKK" in Hetfield's face.

After that, we'll see Mustaine go back into rehab, come back out, and record St. Risk.

No, don't do it!

Yeah, plenty of bands did it after them, including Pink Floyd on DSOTM. It's not original by any mean, but contrary to the tone of my last post (which was tounge in cheek, by the way), I do think it will be cool to watch. We've got live stuff from Megadeth on DVD, but nothing like this.

I love the way people go out of their way to make excuses for Dave Mustaine when he does the exact same thing everyone's been bashing Metallica for. For example, ripping on Metallica for not being original when they decided to film the recording process, then saying that its ok for Megadeth because their fans will dig it. As if that was never a factor in Metallica making their films, it was all about making a statement. Which clearly wasn't the case the first time at least. But I guess a double negative makes a positive, so its ok for Megadeth?

Of course, someone will come out and say its not the same because Mustaine won't have a therapist and air his dirty laundry. I hardly see how that's better. If one of the Drover's gets in a heated discussion with Mustaine and rants about how he's a complete asshole, what do you think the chances are of Mustaine allowing that to show in the final product? Or not firing the dissenting opinion, for that matter? We already know he tried to block his scenes in SKOM. I've got far more respect for someone who isn't afraid to let the world see that his drummer thinks he's a dick.

My favorite shoddy defense would be saying Mustaine's not copying, he did this before in 1994. Let's draw some parallels, shall we? The Black Album and Countdown were recorded at roughly the same time. Metallica had a film crew and released a movie. By the time it was out, Countdown was probably already finished, waiting to be released. So the very next chance Dave got to record another album, in 1994, he films the recording process. Surely a coincidence.

Now, fast forward to 2003. Metallica, sadly, records St. Anger. Again, a film crew is in tow. But the film isn't released until 2004...so it came out the same year as The System Has Failed. Now, yet again, we find Dave Mustaine with his first opportunity to record a new album after Metallica released a film recorded in the studio. And what does he do? Film the recording process. Is this not obvious to anyone else?

Musically, I'm not taking sides since I don't listen to either band anymore and could really care less. But in terms of the integrity debate, there's a lot of hypocrisy here. The metal community wants Mustaine to be the victor of this battle, so everyone has a selective memory. They don't mind the wool being pulled over their eyes if it makes Mustaine the winner. Well, in my opinion a sheep may smell better than a guinea pig, but they both drop some pretty nasty turds. The difference is this sheep is stepping in the guinea pig's turds while it tries to catch up.

You're not better than someone else if your lifelong goal is to be that someone else. To fans, Metallica is Mustaine's enemy. To Mustaine, Metallica is his idol. And we praise him for it. When are metalheads going to wake up and realize this?

No,they didn't. Metallica released a movie for Black and then Megdeth released a movie for Countdown to Extinction which was called "Evolver" remember?

Metallica recorded SKOM which was the recording process and the bands troubles during the recording process and now Dave is doing this.

i dont think you people relize the power record labels and the media have over bands. the media spins the story to make one guy look like the bad guy. purley to sell more copies of there magizine. have you ever nocticed the interviewer will bring up a subject he knows is going to make the person he is interviewing upset. why? because people love drama and as soon as they hear some one bashed someone eles they go buy the freaking magizine. and do you relize that alot of the choices arnt made by the band or by dave mustaine for that matter. when it comes to shit like making a movie. its record labels. its not like dave is going hey lets do what metallica just did. the guy that he singed a contract with said hey "lets make a movie." but you people get so freaking lost in this freaking bull shit bashing acting like the people that make this music arnt human. mustaine or any other person in the world is not perfect. so why do you all act like they are supposed to be. were all flawed in some way. and for those who say the real megadeth line up is so and so with so and so on guitar are all a bunch of idiots because mustaine did all the freaking writing. so really your fav members where playing daves stuff. but thats not to say they had zero input. and honestly do you freaking idiots think they are recording this footage for people who hate megadeth to watch. noooo. yeah sure it might be for cash or for the fans but does it matter. if you like it buy it if you dont then dont. simple as that. and for all those who ask why is there so many megadeth stories on blabbermouth. its for the same reason i mentioned earlier. look how all of you flock in to start bashing. its great to blabbermouth because your all here now arnt you.....and on daves defense. there really isnt has much hate for metallica as you all think. sure back in the day and a little in the nineties. but if your so quick to believe what he says about why he hates then why is it so hard to beleive him now that he doesnt....dave now claims to not hate those guy in metallica. and i live with a recovring drug additct and i know that part of getting sober is accepting the things you can not change and having the wisdom to change the things you can. and to make peace with those your negitive towards. put your self in daves shoes. he says i have let go of the whole metallica thing and you all say. "make up your mind" or "no way your just saying that" but in reallity it probley has more to do with getting sober. now im done ranting.
