adamb719, you mean Binaural and Riot Act? Dude, those albums were killer IMO. Especially Binaural which rates among my top ten rock albums of all time.
Haven't heard anything off the new one but my expectations are high. McCready and Gossard are probably the best guitar duo out there!

I heard a leak of the new album. Pretty solid, better than their last two albums, a bit more to their roots. If you like PJ, then pick it up, if you dont like them, dont bother.

Aug. 29 - Arnhem, NETH @ Geldredome

now that is gonna SUCK

pearl jam have such a crappy live sound, and the venue there playing is one of the worst in the country. Bad acoustic, bad facilities and no atmosphere...it's gonna be terrible

a number of you are fools. Poor musicianship, Mike McCready is a great guitar player, and since they've had Matt Cameron behind the kit, any arguement for poor musicianship is instantly null. For your information: Blast beats at eleventy billion bpm do not make you a great player. Pear Jam has deep grooves and pretty awesome song writing in my opinion. Grow the fuck up and learn to appriciate more than songs about d&d.

One of the best live shows I've ever seen. Great musicians and Vedder is one of the great songwriters of our time. I'm not sure where this corporate/MTV accusation comes from but if any of you knew anything you'd know they didn't make videos for years to shun MTV and they took on Ticketmaster to get lower prices for concert goers.

New stuff sounds great too.

"I'm not sure where this corporate/MTV accusation comes from but if any of you knew anything you'd know they didn't make videos for years to shun MTV and they took on Ticketmaster to get lower prices for concert goers."

That's because they signed a major label deal, and two of the richest men in the recording industry have signed their paychecks - Tommy Mottola and Clive Davis.

If their actions matched their words, they would have taken less money to sign with a smaller label, just like today's best heavy metal bands have done - i.e. Iced Earth, Nevermore, Evergrey, Morgana Lefay, Jag Panzer and bands like that.

And it's hard to maintain an anti-corporate stance when you start to put shit albums out as they have done since after Vs., and as a result start to LOSE money.

And I love how alt-rock and grunge fans love to complain about how radio and MTV plays the band's worst songs, but the thing is, it's not their fault - it's the band's fault for writing those songs in the first place.

Signing to a major label means nothing. PJ has stayed true to themselves and continued to make the music that they enjoy making. Artistic integrity is everything and these guys have it. and if they make money doing all the power to them.

For the bands you mention, signing to a small label would be the better way to go. They would lose money, have to pay back advances because they don't sell like a band like PJ does.

I'm not shitting on the bands you mention but just stating facts.
You're comparing apples to oranges.

Very unsurprisingly the dates of Pearl Jam in my region (Antwerp, Arnhem) were sold out. Are there still posibilities to get tickets for a FAIR price?? Are there plans to have more shows around here?? Drop me a line, if you here any news: taipei101mailbox-pearljam@yahoo.de. Cheers, Alex
