GODSMACK: New Audio Interview With SULLY ERNA Posted Online - Apr. 26, 2006
A 15-minute audio interview with GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna, conducted on April 25 by "The BJ Shea Morning Experience" on the Seattle station 99.9 KISW, has been posted online at this location.

In other news, GODSMACK will be taping an appearance on NBC-TV's "Last Call with Carson Daly" on Wednesday, May 3. The band will perform 2-4 songs at the event, the attendance to which is by invitation only. To obtain tickets to attend the taping, visit www.1iota.com and follow the instructions.

As previously reported, GODSMACK's latest CD, "IV", is on track to sell more than 200,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 1 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. The official sales figures and chart positions will be released a week from today (May 3).

Erna recently admitted to Launch Radio Networks that he was going through some rough times while making "IV", a period that included putting the brakes on smoking and drinking. But Erna wanted to make it clear that he hasn't exactly turned into a saint either. "I didn't completely quit drinking," he said. "But I did, for nine months. I stopped, I didn't touch a drop of alcohol. Me and Shannon (Larkin, drummer) probably quit smoking cigarettes forever, thank God. I mean, now it's like, I'm back to having a few beers casually with my boys or a glass of wine or something like that, and it's all under wraps, you know what I mean? I got off the hard liquors and all that stuff 'cause it was just, it was getting dangerous."

Sully Erna is working on a song with magician Criss Angel for Angel's upcoming album. The pair have taken the theme song from Angel's A&E series, "Mindfreak", and are reworking it, according to Billboard.com. Former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt is also playing on the track.

Erna also plans to appear on the new season of "Mindfreak", which begins on May 31.

GODSMACK's upcoming North American tour (set to kick off in September) will be a three-band package, featuring an as-yet-undisclosed co-headliner (rumored to be ROB ZOMBIE) and an opening act, to be announced at a later date. The band will perform tonight (Wednesday, April 26) on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and Friday (April 28) on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

And our sound is utterly original too. And the fact that our new album just happens to have this mysterious band I've never heard of called "Alice In Chains's" sun logo on the cover is just a big old coincidence. Yep. Never heard of those guys. Nope, never. I believe in 100% originality."

As much I think Godsmack is kind of mediocre, I have to respect that they're at least playing heavy music and selling records, and not completely chopping off their balls and playing shit like Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romace in order to get those kinds of sales.

Its too bad Criss Angel hangs out with these posers because he is by far the best Magician I have ever seen live. His show at the Alladin is fucking amazing. His levitation trick makes David Blaine look stupid.

Knobsmack is the worst of the nu-metal/mallcore bands.

I really don't get the Alice in Chains comparison. Both are great bands thats all I see in comparison! I don't get all the bands selling out? Godsmack hasn't changed one bit, how the hell have they sold out? Their first cd is the same just spent less money on it, How has Godsmack sold out? Because he doesn't bark and he sells cd's and they are popular they are sell outs? People on here just hate popular people and groups in general!! Godsmacks new Cd, IV, is positively awesome. Love it! Really front to back, 9 out of 11 songs are all big winners. Circuit City has it for $8.99 and you get a free t shirt. Man, what a deal. I was overly impressed.

Factoid number one. Almost every song that Sully writes features the following terms..... Ahem. Keep away, get away, got to get away, far away...... And the list goes on. Poor mans Thesaurus most be stuck on one page.

Two. Godsmack "USED" to be an Alice in Chains cover band. I didn't know they ever stopped.

Three. Voodoo is the lamest song I've ever heard. I wish jukeboxes in seedy bars didn't have it and every kid rock song ever written in constant rotation.

Four. Hard rock is not metal. Why are Nutsmack on Blabbermouth's site anyway?

Five. I hate any music that seemed to skate by the irradication of lame 90's Ozzfest diaper waste. Soil, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Godsmack, System of a Down, Disturbed. How are people still listening to these bands? I'll tell you how. Mother-Fucking hot topic still carries the t-shirts.

Gay? Talent less? AIC rip offs? Unoriginal? Ha. Spare me your stupidity.

One, godsmack are in no way an AIC rip off. That's a bullshit misconception that some dumbfuck critic came up with and sheeple like you feel for because you're to easily misguided and can't think for your selves. Their name didn't come from the AIC song. In fact, it came up when they were recording their demo. Sully was making fun of their then drummer for his cold soar and it just so happens that sully went into the studio with a cold soar the same size in the same spot. Their guitarist told him that god smacked him for ragging on their drummer, hence the name godsmack. As far as sounding like AIC, there is a slight AIC sound. It's called influence morons. They are one of the few original bands around. The fact that they use riffs that you have heard before is only natural in music. That's how music progressed. Bands feed off of other material and that is how music is created.

I guarantee that there is more talent in a fart from a Godsmack band member then any of you have in your whole body.
I'd like to see you play drums like Shannon Larkin. Or play guitar like Tony.

As far as their new album goes, it is very different then their previous albums and introduce a different side of Godsmack. A more experimental side of them.

What's your idea of good music? Is it those death metal bands that sound the same? Or perhaps it's rap that is unoriginal and again sounds the same. Or maybe it's fallout boy who sounds like every other crappy punk band out there. Or could be mr.nutsinavice James Blunt?

It's as simple as if you don't like it, then don't listen to it. How would you douche bags feel if people were sending bad vibes your way just because they think some things that you do suck?

Godsmack is a little like AIC but dont most bands sound the same. That is all you retards got on them. All you can say is that they sound like AIC because AIC made a song called Godsmack, and there fore you idiots have to run your mouth like assholes just to put your two cents in.
