EVANESCENCE: 'The Open Door' Delayed Until October

MTV.com is reporting that EVANESCENCE's follow-up to 2003's "Fallen", entitled "The Open Door", will be released on October 3 via Wind-Up Records. "I'm just totally dying to get it out," EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee said. "It seems like it's been forever since 'Fallen'," which has sold about 6.5 million copies in the United States. "I feel like with 'Fallen', a lot of those songs sound like I was trying to prove myself and establish what we were and our sound," she explained. "I was trapped having to feel a certain way. But with the new record, I sort of went with everything. I am not afraid to feel happy sometimes, and I think there's moments on the album with sensuality, which is really fun and beautiful, instead of the last time, where I felt like I was only getting out part of me. This record embraces the whole me." The forthcoming disc will feature 13 tracks, including "Good Enough", "Weight of the World" and the first single, "Call Me When You're Sober" — will be the Arkansas band's first since the departure of lead guitarist and principal songwriter Ben Moody, who jumped ship in 2003, in the middle of EVANESCENCE's European tour. "The big amazing thing is I went through this spectrum of emotions," Lee told MTV.com. "We started off feeling really free and amazing and good, because I felt like I'd been liberated as an artist. [After Moody's departure], I didn't have somebody — I don't want to be mean — holding me back. Instead, I had [ Moody's replacement, Terry Balsamo; ex- COLD] lifting me up. Terry is just an amazing instigator. He'll push me to do something I wouldn't have done maybe, because I'd be afraid to or something. He's a great writer, and it was just like we were just having fun with it for a change. It was like, 'Let's stop taking everything so seriously and have fun,' and we wrote a lot of songs that I'm just totally in love with." Read more at MTV.com.

Who's waiting for it? Me, for one. Despite a lot of the comments I see on here about Evanescence, I found Fallen to be loaded with great songs. I still listen to it every now and then. I'll be one of the first in line to get The Open Door.

The thing is...being a band that sounds good is just too easy. All you need to do is practice, work hard, and listen. As for me, I admire and LOVE the bands that DON'T do that. The bands that just throw a chick in front and say "sound like an annoying shrill witch with a broomstick up your ass" and then layer on guitars until it sounds like a fucking bus plowing your mom. Generic garbage is the new Satan, and I love it.

I never like Evanescence, but at least I'm excited to wait for their new album. Karma Kode upsets me, like, WOAH! Hopefully "The Open Pussy" would be nicer than that. Otherwise, I'd pee on their butts (Scabbia and Lee).

No, thats mass media brainwashing. Either that, or Evanescence is the only band mommie and daddy will let their little dumplings listen to. Most kiddies will love what they have access to. If they hear a band on the radio 50 million times a day, then the kiddies will think that they are a good band. So they will get mommie to buy them the latest fad being over played on the radio. Then the kiddies will go forth to school and the other kiddies will see they have the latest overplayed band's cd in their Star Wars back pack. They will go to their mommie and say, "I WANT THAT TOO CAUSE ALL THE KIDS HAVE IT!"
The music doesn't have to be good to be on the radio. Hell, radio stations around me play Disturbed all the time AND THEY SUCK HUGE DICK!
So no, thats not respect from the people. That is the people being the ignorant, tasteless, duped fools that they are.
p.s. There ARE some good rock bands out there. Evenascence just isn't one of them.

The new Ev stuff, sounds interesting - I love Ev, but, some songs on Fallen, were, a bit commercial, and without that it's going to sound so much more free and amazing.
I really think this whole "Evanescence sucks" thing - needs to stop - it's all one big arguement..
And alot of stupid comments are made. For instance "Evanescence are losers" oh yeah.. real losers aren't they..with a huge album like Fallen behind them. (sarcasm children)
And, yes, the wait has been long for this album, but they had their reasons, bitching about how long it's been isn't going to change anything. All the stuff they've had to deal with - it can't have been easy for them - they had to wait till the time was right to begin recording. It's October now, be happy with that.
