VICIOUS RUMORS Drummer LARRY HOWE Joins W.A.S.P. - Apr. 27, 2006
VICIOUS RUMORS drummer Larry Howe has joined W.A.S.P. as the replacement for Stet Howland. "[Larry] auditioned a few weeks ago and Blackie [Lawless, W.A.S.P. mainman] called him back and told him he had the gig," VICIOUS RUMORS bassist Dave Starr said. "He flies to Los Angeles this weekend to start work with the band for the new tour dates that start soon.

"As far as Larry and VICIOUS RUMORS goes, we have a break now with no tour dates while Geoff [Thorpe, VICIOUS RUMORS mainman] finishes the new [VR] CD so the timing is good for everyone," continued Dave. "Larry says Blackie wants him to do the tour and then what happens next will be figured out down the line. Larry remains a member of VICIOUS RUMORS. I still want Larry to do the WILDESTARR CD with my wife and I, and I hope he can still do that at some point later this year.

"This is great news for Larry, and I gave him congrats on the phone. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved."

W.A.S.P.'s U.S. tour is scheduled to kick off May 19 in Sacramento, California. A complete list of currently confirmed tour dates can be found at this location.

W.A.S.P. had utilized the services of YNGWIE MALMSTEEN drummer Patrick Johansson for the U.S. dates they played in February/March.

This has gotta be a great gig- for every 5 WASP shows you're scheduled to play, you only wind up doing 2 of them but still get paid for all 5, thanks to Blackie Lawless continually cancelling gigs and swiping the guarantees from the club owners! And the two you actually DO play rarely clock in over an hour! Sweet!

Just think about that one, kids- can YOU be scheduled to work Mon-Fri, show up only two days (for a half-day for those two, no less) and still get paid in full, week after week, year after year??

Let's face it- Steve Duren (Blackie's real name) has been pulling this crap for years and has the WORST reputation amongst bookers & promoters. That's why every time he's played in my city since 1997 (the first year they played after I moved here) he's had to play at a different venue. "Burned bridges" isn't even the phrase for it.

The point is, the FANS are the ones who get screwed every time- but hey, who cares about those fans as long as you can keep the scam rolling & the rent paid on your crappy pad in West Hollywood?

Chump.

you may have a bad experience with wasp but i saw them in nashville about 2 years ago and it was 1 hell of a show and almost 2 hours long and to top it off blackie was sick. . . but he still came out to meet the fans that was waiting by the buses after the show even though the security told everyone blackie was sick and wouldnt come out to meet anyone he did anyway

here's one for laughs...I was living in Bordeaux France a few years ago when Vicious Rumors came to town...ended up in the same bar (Lune Dans le Caniveau) after their show and the drummer (I'm not 100% certain it's Larry Howe but the name sounds damn familiar!) wanted me to hook him up with this chick with glasses...well she had no interest in him and ended up sleeping with me a few weeks later...what a great claim to fame eh?!
