TOOL Singer Tells Fans To 'Relax' About Sold-Out Shows

Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan has posted a message at the band's official web site, Toolband.com, after fans began expressing disappointment over not being able to get tickets for the group's upcoming North American mini-tour. Keenan wrote, "Many people are complaining about the sold out shows. Relax. We're doing a full-on tour at the end of the summer which goes almost everywhere. And in the new year, we'll go almost everywhere else. These are just a handful of warm-up dates. There's nothing much we can do to outwit the scalpers. If you have patience, just don't buy the tickets from them. Just wait until August."
TOOL's tour starts next Tuesday (May 2) in Seattle, the day that the band's new "10,000 Days" album arrives in stores. The trek runs through May 22, where it finishes in Boston.
The 15-date mini-tour will follow the group's headlining performance this Sunday (April 30) at the Coachella festival in Indio, California.
"Vicarious", the first single from "10,000 Days", debuted in the Top Five of every major rock radio chart this week.

A friend of mine was online trying to buy tickets when they went up for sale for the Philly show. He couldn't get tickets for they sold out quickly. Afterwards, (only minutes mind you) he went to a ticket broker that was willing to sell 2 tickets for $1200.00. He said screw Tool.

Sold out is right....as im sure everyone knows the new tool album has been leaked and can be downloaded on limewire or your music stealing software of choice...and boy..how unimpressive is the new album? It seems very rushed. Its just not as polished as we expect from tool. So dont be butt hurt that you didnt get tickets...cause having to sit through this album live sounds about as fun as a root canal

New Tool is awesome. Anyone who says Tool is overrated has nothing to stand on, as they create some of the most fantastic rock music pieces known to man, with every single note and detailed looked at thoroughly.
I used to hate this band long ago, but I gave them a fair go and actually really tried understanding where they came from, now I hate my former self and realise this truly is one of the best bands to come out of the 90s and they are all very extremely talented.
See, what most losers on here expect is a million super fast, super hard to do guitar solos, crazy drum beats that are really quick or whatever to show how good the drummer is and a vocalist that somehow has this amazing voice that EVERYONE seems to love.
Unfortunately, number one, music isn't about creating a mess. If you hear a million guitar solos on an album then you get over it three tracks in. It's boring, and it means the guitar solos eventually don't stand out as being really good, they just sound normal by the end of the CD.
Then if a drummer goes and does all these crazy beats non stop and all these fancy rolls and whatever, they don't stand out. I'm a drummer too, I know what thats like, I've been a studio drummer for 10 years. You can have awesome beats, but like, all the tiny little details and little fills and rolls, thats what makes it, but if it's constant and if you have them over and over, it's boring and becomes the norm.
And AS IF everyone will love a singers voice, everyone has their own opinion and not everyone will love the sound of one singer.
So there is NO super band. Everyone rants on about Opeth. They're not even that appealing to me. They're good, but I mean, once again, a matter of opinion.
Bands these days need to make music that gels together beautifully. That compliments each musician. Opeth do it well, I'll agree on that, there are just some things I don't really like that don't appeal to me by them.
Tool however, do appeal to me, and I think they do it just as well. They make their instruments, including vocals, mix together WELL and the build ups stand out because of that and make their musical pieces worth listening to.
Once again, matter of opinion, but it's much of a muchness and if a band gels together well, that's what creates a stand out/long lasting band and that's what I believe is GOOD music.
Problem is, in any case, not everyone is going to love the same music, but crappy jokes with nothing to back it up, well, that's just dumb, boring and what seems to make up 95% of posts on Blabbermouth.
That's my rant for the evening. I'm sure I'll cop it for this, but some people might agree.

saw Tool in a theater and they still sucked. Come to think about it, over the years I've seen them several times and they have sucked EVERY SINGLE TIME. The last time I saw them Maynard never faced the audience the entire show, and this was in an arena. He stood by Danny Carey the whole time. I like their music, their new CD is brilliant but they truly suck in concert and nobody can tell me otherwise because I've seen them in every conceivable setting....theaters, arenas, festivals....all the same, boring shit.

in a time where the outlook of music is descending by day it's original, intellegent, and talented artists that we should be supporting. however when the music situation is a giant shit bag you can expect the people who believe themselves to be into it are of the same ignorant pissant quality.
it's absolutely fucking ridiculous. half you assholes listen to what you do for scene appeal regardless...fuck if it aint heavy enough for your mongoloid half developed soft ass head. a rarity like tool where all 4 members are clicking on all cylinders as creative songwriting forces hasn't been around in the mainstream market since the days of a rising pantera, soundgarden, and alice in chains. these guys have taken kyuss on tour, meshuggah, fantomas...just to name a few. they are what we need. they give relatively unknown bands a little recognition while daming up the airwaves from the flood of shit that bands like nickleback and blue october plague.

I have always loved tool. Its the Tool fans that get on my fucking nerves. The ones that think Tool is the only fucking band on the planet and that no other band comes close.
Tool is a great band but there are bands out there with twice the balls that Tool has.

I've seen Tool live and thought it was a great show, they played their asses off. Also have heard the new record and am quite impressed. Not as good as previous efforts in my mind but still a solid record. Vicarious is a killer tune. Aenema to me is one of the greatest CDs of all time. Would definitely go see them again.

Yea Tool is good live (somewhat) and yea they are talented and all, but Im sick of people sac stroking them like crazy. They ARENT the greatest fuckin band in the world, and to be honest their new album songs are like 6-7 minutes each of like progressive rock which is FUCKIN long! At least their older albums had some heavier stuff and variation, this new one seems to be all bland and mad fuckin boring. And Opeth...cmon man who are u people trying to fool, because they play for 20 minutes a song don't make them great even if their guitarist is amazing. Progressive Rock is pretty weak esp that Dream Theater shit I fuckin left Gigantour cuz that shit is AWFUL. Am I a nu metal kid, well shit I was born in 84 and started listening to music around 1999 so yea maybe I am but at least its better than this metalcore and progressive shit...

I thought Thriller was the second best selling album of all time. And the Eagle's greatest hits was number one. I guess things could have changed. Anyway, I'm not sweating seeing Tool on this tour, I've already seen them like 4 or 5 times, including once on a headful of mushrooms. I've always liked them though, just not a die-hard fan, but they come to Louisiana on virtually every tour, and the live show is pretty well done. If I see them, I see them, if not, then it's a quick trip to Texas for Gigantour. One thing I haven't quite figured out, though. Why do blabbermouth and KNAC and other hard rock sites post stuff about Tool? Most Tool fans don't even really like heavy music. Tool's about as heavy as it gets for most of them.

I used to be a big Tool fan, but then I got into more complex/interesting music (ie, Swedish metal, death metal, etc, etc)
Tool is just plain boring, and not fun to listen to. I gain nothing from their music.

I have been listening to the new CD for over a week non-stop and it is AMAZING. Vicarious is one of the weaker songs on the disc. If you have to wait until the 2nd... it is worth the wait. TOOL are the most imaginative and creative band out there. If you don't get them, you don't understand music and art. Go back to your Slayer and your trailer... trash.

Strange how the band that Opeth would most like to tour with is Tool then - one of the bands that they respect the most. Of course you know best. Young people have no business listening to music either - it's not as it they won't be forming the bands of tommorrow you UTTER TWAT EVIL LANCE.

First off....everyone has their own preference on music....if people weren't so fucking dumb they would realize you can't do anything to change it so there's no use trying to fight it. What I can't stand are people who think they know what's good for everyone else. There will always be people who only want and prefer the formulaic 2 to 3 minute "hits". Most of these people have a different perspective on music. Other people like anything from 2 minutes to 20 minutes and beyond. It's quite obvious that these people have more of a commitment to understanding and enjoying music beyond the surface. Anyone that says long music sucks says that because they don't understand it. So many people are ignorant to music and they bitch and complain about things they don't understand like little kids. Another thing...music is not here to pander to your asses and try to entertain you. It's art...despite what people make of it. Either you like it.....or you don't...its that simple. Not one person's preferences are right or wrong. Also, If any person attends a concert and claims the band was shitty because they were visually boring ..... they weren't there for the right reasons. Lastly, There is a difference in saying a band is shitty/bad and saying you don't like them. Saying they are shitty means they are inferior and of poor quality. Saying you don't like them does not incenuate that. Anyone that makes a completely rediculous comment about how bands like Dream Theater are bad..should really keep their mouth shut. Dream Theater is a picture of technical musicianship. You don't have to like them...but they are certainly not bad. That goes for other bands too. I'm done. That was way too fucking long. P.S. I love Opeth and Tool.

#1. The new Tool is cool, if you want 2 maybe three songs with punch and hard/prog rock metal? sensibility..........AND the rest very odd kinda doomy psychotic meanderings and such.
#2. The new Tool is boring and uninspired, IF they woulda injected the WHOLE album with the same creativity they displayed on the FIRST few tracks they coulda had something huge!!!!!!!!!!!!
#3. Tool IMO are VERY OVERRATED, I mean, "Prison Sex"?????
That song is not all that great, and if I don't get it well excuse the fuck outta me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Prison Sex"??????? Naw Man.
#4. "Sober" is the most droning depressing song on the radio.....Why can we not be sober when 90% of the fans at the sold out shows are gonna be chemicaled up in some way shape or form???????? why indeed.

That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Talk about pretentious, Jesus. I don't get Tool sometimes, and I can assure you that I understand quite a bit of music and art, thank you very much.
The Tool well is going dry. I've been listening to the new album the last few days and it's not on par with the others (which are not the greatest, but I enjoy them very much). Many riffs sound like they are lifted straight from their older songs. There is too much filler and ambient-like songs...I like those kind of things sometimes, but there's too much here and the album has no backbone. I listen to the album and suddenly it ends, and I'm sitting there thinking, "That's it?" The whole thing feels like an intro to another album. It's not that I don't "get" it, it's that I just don't like it.
This album is too much of a rehash of their previous material. There's nothing new here. Not enough of a payoff for a 5 year wait. And I've given up on seeing Tool live...not worth the trouble to get a ticket.

The opposite of love is not hate, it is indeifference. You are putting your energy and attention toward a band when you hate them. Where as you could just ignore them, I am sure you(the haters) will be much happier at the end of the day for not focusing negative attention on stuff. Just listen to what you like and go about your day. You'll be happier.
With that said....Tool is amazing, I am bummed I didn't get a ticket, but sure I'll see them again soon enough. Tool blends everything together so perfectly, it is a total amazing experience to listen to a Tool album. Tool is a great gateway band to get people into other forms of music.
With both Tool and Pink Floyd I can't imagaine how people can hate on them. It's as simple as opening your ears and letting the music sink in. A lot of musuic just naturally sounds good, and not forced. When you hear a tune and it strikes you emotionally or whatever you should not deny that. Both bands are amazing have done so much musically.
Sure I love technical metal as well and I love the energy, but I also enjoy melodies that bring out that something special inside. Having a heart should never be a bad thing. Let's not try and act all tough and put on a front here, as people do on these boards.

Obviously everyone's not gonna like all the same bands...there's prolly A LOT of bands you may like that other people fucking want to slit their throat when they hear it...so seriously...let it go if ur gonna be a dickhead about things like that. it has no place here. when there's a topic that says "Does Tool suck? Are they fucking boring and lame?"
