- May 1, 2006

|
Former MERAUDER guitarist Sob (real name: Javier Carpio) passed away this past weekend at the age of 33. A founding member of the acclaimed New York-based metal/hardcore act, Sob played on all three of the band's albums — 1996's "Master Killer", 1999's "5 Deadly Venoms" and 2003's "Bluetality" — which were released through the Century Media label. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (May 2) at Schafer Funeral Parlor in Brooklyn, NY at 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. (both EST). For more information, visit www.myspace.com/merauder.

The myspace page really doesn't really say how he died. I don't know if it matters any way.

i saw that you posted "that's cool" earlier and the webmaster must have erased it. if you get your kicks purposefully trying to stir up drama on an internet message board, that's fine. alot of us come sites like these just to see the ignorant things that ppl will say. ppl like you think the internet is nothing more than a place to anonymously slander others. that's alright, what you do to fill the time between you dungeons and dragons sessions is nobody's business but your own. but to poke fun at somebody's passing is completely heartless and unacceptable. Sob was a decent man, and i'm sure that there are many ppl that are mourning today. what kind of horrible human being are you to be able find humor in something like this?

...Master Killer was a great album...a great hardcore / metal album way before it was popular to do so. Ahead of their time.
R.I.P SOB...it seems like yesterday DMIZE and Merauder were playing on the Jersey shore.

Merauder was a band that was full of promise and Century Media felt the same way. Bori knows becouse if I remember correctly he signed them to the label at the time. Thier first record "Master Killer" was produced by Cro-Mags guitarist Parris Mayhew and did fairly well especially in Europe. They did 4 tours of Europe suopporting the record including tours with Pro-Pain, Stuck Mojo, Bose Oncles, ect. During pre-production for the second record which potentially was the breakthrought record the band fell apart. Andy Sneep was going to produce it but the band began squabbling and fell apart. This band was poised to step it up to the next level but they couldn't handle it. Although the band got back together it seems that "The moment was gone" and they never again attained that level of success. I traveled around the world with SOB and have memories both good and bad to last a lifetime. He was a violent person who lived and from what I understand died "By The Sword. Knowing SOB the way I do...He wouldn't of wanted it any other way.
