TOOL, PEARL JAM To Top Next Week's BILLBOARD Album Chart - May 4, 2006
Hits Daily Double is reporting that TOOL's "10,000 Days" looks poised to sell in the 600,000 range after a tremendous first-day start, according to retailers around the country. This is roughly in line with the first-week performance of the band's last album, "Lateralus", which shifted 555,000 copies back in May 2001 to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. Meanwhile, PEARL JAM's self-titled effort — the group's first album for Clive Davis' J Records — marks a real comeback for Eddie Vedder and company, with a projected total of 300,000, give or take a few, helped by #1 sales at iTunes and fan sites as well as a spate of media coverage. It's the band's first new studio album since 2002's "Riot Act" for Epic. Other notable chart debuts: Interscope's Aussie BLACK SABBATH-like neo-heavy metal outfit WOLFMOTHER, fresh off their acclaimed Coachella performance (35,000), and Fontana's indie REBEL MEETS REBEL on Big Vin Records, recorded by the late PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell with brother Vinnie Paul and country outlaw David Allen Coe (30,000).

Been listening to metal going on 15 years now, and I've got to say, other than the review on the side of the mainpage, I've NEVER heard of Wolfmother (did read the review before this article came out), and they're shifting that many copies? Good for them.

And no, I don't listen to Disturbed or Godsmack or whatever for any smart asses in here.

Wolfmother aren't metal. They are, however, definitely hard rock. Should appeal to fans of Sabbath, Zeppelin, Monster Magnet and Kyuss alike.

I didn't expect anything but it is a somewhat authentic copy of early 70s Sabbath. Usually I dislike overhyped indie trends but Wolfmother is something special imo.

This coming from the cheap bastard that wouldn't pay for it! The reason it sounds terrible is because you downloaded a compressed MP3 for free moron. Take $9.99 (or two hours worth of wages) and buy a real copy at Best Buy. Album rocks, sounds great...assuming you can afford the huge $10 price tag.

CD's, DVD's that I bought Tuesday:

Rebel Meets Rebel- Fuckin' great CD!
Pearl Jam- The best one I bought yesterday
Tool- I don't get this one yet, and it's going to take longer than I'm interested in to let it grow on me
Soil- This one sucks without Ryan singing
Dimevision- Holy shit, did anybody else see the F-150 burnout in Dime's front yard? I laughed til I almost puked when I saw this.

Tool, Pearl Jam, and Wolfmother and I have to say that I have been listening to Wolfmother the most since Tuesday. I already heard Tool when it leaked 4/18 and it's great but has to grow on you like all their albums if you don't like it at first. Pearl Jam's new one gives you that old nostalgic 1990s feeling because a lot of it does sound like their "old" stuff. One of their best albums ever. Wolfmother was way better than I expected it to be, it's worth buying.

Pearl Jam: A damn good band with some strong staying power.

Tool:HOW THE FUCK!?!?!?!?!?!, either way they deserve it by far.

Rebel Meets Rebel:Little promotion, Big sales. Dime lives on no matter what.

Wolfmother:There is a thin line between really old school metal and hard rock. I am going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and call them metal. Whatever you classify them as they sure as hell grow on you.

These past few weeks have been great for metal, lets keep it up!!!

went to the local record store the day that the new Tool album came out, they said they were sold out and that another shipment was coming in the next day. congrats to Tool for selling so many copies. 600,000 is pretty damn high considering how sales have dropped a lot in the past few years for cds.

Bought the tool album and its actually rather shitty. I dont think this one will grow either, theres just too many stupid tracks to make this cd great like their others. all in all a real let down. it is excellent however to see them sell 600000, talk about the a faithful following. Also the pearl jam cd is as shitty as every other cd they have released since TEN. talk about a band that needs to hang it up, i give them about as much respect as that pathetic band CAKE.

The new TOOL sucked! The new Pearl Jam,ruled!

Tool's album is boring as fuck because they forgot to write songs unlike Pearl Jam who actually can write songs and all their albums actually sound different because they are just better song writers...Tool has talented memebers but they are shitty song writers...sorry. I really liked Lateralus though...but this new album is just too fucking boring.

Yeah Pearl Jam isn't metal but they never claimed to be, they are a Rock band and one of America's last great one's! The new album will eventually out sell Tool, and it will sell based on the music, not because of a devoted fan base who will buy anything...The new Tool will fall off the charts in no time, but Pearl Jam will stay...

but who knows maybe I need to listen to the new Tool again...I dread having to do so actually but I haven't stopped listening to the new Pearl Jam since I got it, it fucking rocks and is their best sense Vitoligy (however that is spelt)...anyway, I still like Tool but they totally blew it, Pearl Jam wins!
