GODSMACK Join 'VH1 Rock Honors' Lineup - May 9, 2006

GODSMACK have joined previously announced performers FOO FIGHTERS, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS and PAUL RODGERS, who has recently joined QUEEN for tours of Europe and the USA, as they pay tribute to the legends who influenced the sound of hard rock with the first annual "VH1 Rock Honors". Hosted by Jaime Pressly of the hit sitcom "My Name Is Earl", this year’s celebration will honor the music and influence of KISS, QUEEN, DEF LEPPARD and JUDAS PRIEST.

Premiering on Wednesday, May 31 at 9:00 p.m., "VH1 Rock Honors" will be taped at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 25. The show will include performances by all of the honorees as well as tribute performances by GODSMACK (whose new album, "IV" just debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart), FOO FIGHTERS, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS and PAUL RODGERS. Riki Rachtman will serve as backstage announcer. Additional performers, presenters, and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed.

The two-hour tribute will salute the groundbreaking bands of rock, the once-in-a-lifetime events and the influential people who made a lasting mark on the history of hard rock. The influence of these honorees will be felt through spoken tributes, filmed packages and performances by some of today's hottest rock acts as well as the legends themselves.

	I don't see Alice In Chains as one of the honored bands- and we all know Godsmack would be bereft of ideas if it wasn't for them. "We'd like to thank Alice In Chains, without whom, we would not have a name, a sound, the sun logo on our current album, a brooding singer, etc."

	This sounds like something the Grammies would put together , all i need now is Dave Navarro to put his 2 cents in , With four hard rock bands like this being honored , vh1 sure couldve done a better job with music , Im guessin Sellouttica will be somewhere on here too .. If you are honoring Priest where s Maiden - wouldnt that be the band . Or give the new Metal bands a chance like Lacuna Coil to perform , I like Godsmack , do they belong here no , will i listen to them , maybe , But the who the hell is the All American Rejects ?????

	None of those bands sound a damn thing like Judas Priest, KISS, Def Lep, or Queen! How can they possibly purport to have been influenced by them? This is going to suck.

	They aren't trying to get bands that sound like them!!!! Maybe those were the only bands that would agree to do it for the right price. There is no way they are doing it for free........... Iron Maiden got paid $80,000 per show last year on OZZFEST, so imagine what they would want for this. Not everything has to be Metal/Hardcore/Thrash. None of the bands they are honoring are any of that, except with Priest being metal. It is Rock honors, and whether you want to admit it or not, Godsmack and Foo Fighters are two of the biggest Rock draws in the world. Comment when you get out of high school.... .I never have seen so many idiots ripping on bands they don't like... If you don't like them, why do you even comment on them, just ignore them. Grow the Fuck UP!
