ALICE IN CHAINS: 'Decades' DVD/CD Box Set To Include Bonus Performances, Interview Footage
- May 11, 2006
A custom DVD/CD box set is reportedly in the works that will include all the bonus footage from the VH1 Classic's "Decades Rock Live!" tribute to HEART, including performances by HEART, ALICE IN CHAINS, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood and Rufus Wainwright songs that didnt make the TV special, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and "Decades Rock Confidential" uncut interview material. The set is expected to arrive sometime before the end of the year.
The reunited ALICE IN CHAINS made their first official appearance as part of the "Decades Rock Live!" tribute to HEART, which premiered on May 5. The band performed a total of five songs, including two songs with ex-PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo ("Them Bones" and "Would?"), plus another two with COMES WITH THE FALL singer William DuVall. William also dueted with HEART vocalist Ann Wilson on "Rooster".
ALICE IN CHAINS recently confirmed the five dates and cities for its U.S. mini-tour, beginning on May 18 in Los Angeles and ending on May 23 in New York City. The shows will all take place in either small clubs or theatres.
These gigs and a previously announced date at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August are the only announced North American shows for the reunited group so far, with European festival dates on tap for June and July.
As previously reported, ALICE IN CHAINS will be joined on vocals by DuVall. However, surprise guest vocalists and musicians are expected to show up at each of the five U.S. dates.

I watched it on VH1 this past weekend. Worth a look when they re-run it (which I'm sure they will, dozens of times, over the next month or so) just to see Phil Anselmo and Carrie "American Idol" Underwood sitting on the same couch during the backstage interview segment... talk about a strange combo...
I also watched it on VH1 this past weekend. and it was an awesome show , Can't wait for the Decades DVD/CD box set to come out.
RIP Layne

by jerry cantrell to get a guy like DuVall, i can definitely see where he is going with that idea, but he is not enough of a singer to success layne staley's last rites kind of delivery...
i was just watching the decades of rock " rooster" performance of this DuVall guy, certainly the feeling of the song was not there...such a signature american band, and signature vocal style's heritage could be only achieved by imitating it...(see owens-judas priest)...with his image and vocals looking like as he is just out of recording a Train record; DuVall makes this great come-back a pathetic struggle...

Hey man... I am going to discuss this in a reasonable and rational matter. I am a huge fan of AIC, particularly Layne's vocals and lyrics but the band as whole WERE just great. What you said about his death was already well known and just disrespectful. I am also suspicious of Jerry's intentions with this 'reunion' tour, but I do not know the man personally so I can't make any real judgment. But c'mon man, don't you think if you died in a slow, painful state over years, only to have your remains to be found at such an unpleasant time and state of condition, that you WOULDN'T want people talking about it all the time, that you WOULDN'T want people to point of the obvious, graphic, and sad details down to the head of the nail? Granted he did pretty much kill himself. He wound getting addicted to one of the most destructive drugs on the earth, and travelled further in a downhill with diseases known as drug addiction, extreme depression, and severe physical / organ damage. But I still love the man, as a fan, for what he WAS, because he was the voice for a lot of people's generation... including mine.
So please, if you don't like the band music or the guys themsevles, really, why bother making negative posts about? Its just a waste of time, and maybe shows that you should be doing some better things. But don't take any of what I said personally. We're on the internet, and Blabbermouth of all places for God's sake, so c'mon, maybe you should go read a book or play some guitar. Or maybe get laid. Haha.
Peace man RIP Layne Staley 1967-2002 -- RIP Original Alice In Chains 1987-1998
