OZZY OSBOURNE To Headline OZZFEST's Second Stage In San Bernardino
- May 11, 2006
In an Ozzfest first, OZZY OSBOURNE has decided not to perform on the main stage at the festival's July 8 stop at San Bernardino, CA's Hyundai Pavilion of Glen Helen. Instead, the rock icon has chosen to get right in the face of fans on the frontline by headlining the down and dirty second stage located in a field adjacent to the venue's proper amphitheatre. For each of the last ten years, Ozzfest's founder and namesake has headlined the main stage of the summer's premiere touring concert festival. At this time, Ozzy is scheduled to headline the main stage at his other nine Ozzfest performances slated for this year.
Announcing his decision, Ozzy says, "After 10 years of headlining Ozzfest's main-stage I think it's time for a change. I haven't had a chance to play this close to an audience in years and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. So look out, L.A."
Following Ozzy's second-stage debut, Ozzfest's main stage lineup features headliner SYSTEM OF A DOWN (who just announced that their shows on Ozzfest 2006 will be the last for the band for some time to come) and such formidable artists as DISTURBED, HATEBREED and LACUNA COIL, with a major main stage addition to be revealed on May 23. Marking another Ozzfest first, each of this year's announced main stage acts (other than Ozzy himself) started out in Ozzfest's trenches on the second stage and subsequently won the approval of the festival's discerning followers.
This year's second stage will be headlined by the Zakk Wylde-led BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, with such high-decibel bands as ATREYU, UNEARTH, BLEEDING THROUGH, NORMA JEAN, A LIFE ONCE LOST, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, THE RED CHORD, FULL BLOWN CHAOS, WALLS OF JERICHO, ALL THAT REMAINS, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and BAD ACID TRIP.
Representing his first solo performances in three years, Ozzy will play a total 10 dates on this year's festival route, including the San Bernardino show. Ozzy will be accompanied by longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, marking the 20th anniversary of their work together.

Don't get me wrong, I like most of the bands on there, but you have Hatebreed and nu metal on the main stage, and hardcore or hadcore-based bands on the secnond stage, save for SYL and BLS. Where the hell is the real metal that was there the last 2 years?
I might go if it wasnt for the tons of hardcore, slam dancing, karate kicking, inconsiderate retards who are gonna be there.

For fuck's sake! Fix that damn typo! It's Hartford, CT. Not Hartford, CA.!!!! Yes, they would totally go from NY to CA to MA in one day. Ugh! IDIOTS!

save some HUGE savior to come and grab Ozzfest from depths of mediocrity (ala early 2000's), my 2 cents is that 2007 (that's next year, folks) will be the final Ozzfest. Despite what Ozzy does or does not do, the fact simply remains that this festival/lineup cannot survive. Ozzfest was huge, and I mean fucking HUGE the past few years (Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Shadows Fall, Dimmu Borgir, and the numerous other legit bands out there)....however, I feel this is it. Numerous minor incidents chipped into the armor, but the Maiden incident was the final nail. Ozzfest is dying, and will soon be dead. Gigantour, Sounds of the Underground, Unholy Alliance, etc, etc, are the ones doing the hammering.

get rid of loser Wylde! Create a new band and get away from the 13 in a dozen band hype called Ozzfest. You did a good job but it's just full of hypes and wannabees.
Get back to your real career. You can't kill rock 'n roll remember?
Whenever Sharon tells you to stuff you really don't want to send her off to sell whelks in Hull...(inside fan joke - who is getting this one?)
Time has come to be on the throne again, not on the toilet!
