METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS Perform At MUSICARES MAP FUND Benefit Concert: Video Available

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was honored at a Hollywood fundraiser on Friday (May 12) for the MusiCares MAP Fund. The non-profit organization aimed at helping music industry professionals with addiction recovery treatment presented Hetfield with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his "devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process" during its second annual benefit concert at the Music Box/Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood. The event, which also honored concert promoter Bill Silva, culminated in a three-song set by Hetfield and METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo, along with ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney. They dusted off the ALICE IN CHAINS songs "Would?" and "Them Bones", and finished with the METALLICA ballad "Nothing Else Matters", according to Reuters. i honestly hate metallica, but i'm giving some major respect to hetfield. he's the only reason i can listen to some of their stuff. plus, not many people have the balls to admit that they have a problem, let alone try and solve it. major respect james!

turned the corner in his ongoing battle with alcoholism. He's never gonna be in a situation where he's completely healed.
He may be at a point where he can be safe in an enviroment that has a HIGH volume of booze but he will never be completely over the years of drinking that caused this whole thing to be possible.

What a historic night. Two of rocks biggest icons sharring a stage. That all out Fucking Rocks. I will admit that after watching Some Kind Of Monster I was a little disapointed, but that does'nt take away from the awsome music these guys make. I do hope however that this new album Metallica is making is better than St. Anger. As for AIC I cant wait to see them in Chicago on Sunday night. I'll be the guy out front of the building like a full day before the show.

I'm probably going to get a bit flamed for making this post, but I'm still going to say this. People coming down on James, like the one who called him 'a pussy who can't handle a beer' on this page or another, how can you actually say stuff like that? Are you listening to the bullshit you're saying?
I remember Mikael Akerfeldt of great Opeth saying in an interview that they're not into drugs or getting fucked up on alcohol anymore, does anyone call him a pussy? Or is it just because James Hetfield is in Metallica? Either way, saying things like that, you put a huge banner over your head saying "I'm stupid" and take it with you everywhere you go.
Do you know how much courage it takes to expose yourself like that, or to just admit you have a problem and go treat it?
You don't have to be 'METAL' to be cool.
For many people, me included, those who treat themselves and find a better way of life are way cooler than those who ruin their lives with stupid shit like alcohol or drugs.
As someone who's seen seven fuckin' years of personal issues, deep clinical depression included, and has treated himself, I can't stand people saying stuff like that about people who do that. Is it so wrong to want to be a better person or to feel better about living your life?
James Hetfield is a true symbol of the victory of life, family and will over harmful methods of running away and hiding from the world.
If anything, instead of making him sound lowly and lame you should look UP to him and feel humiliated for saying such things, you worthless little piece of shit.
