TOOL Singer Doesn't Take Fans For Granted

Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL made a huge No. 1 debut on last week's The Billboard 200 with the band's fourth album, "10,000 Days", but with five years having passed since the last TOOL effort, there was no guarantee that the group's fans would still be interested. Singer Maynard James Keenan told Launch that he doesn't take it for granted that the audience for TOOL is still out there. "Oh, you can't ever assume that," he said. "You just have to do what feels right for you, and take the time you need and just follow your heart. And if people ended up coming around for it, great, if they didn't, then that's fine too. You can't base your life around whether people are gonna show up or not."
"10,000 Days" sold 564,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous album, 2001's "Lateralus", sold nearly as many and also entered the chart at No. 1.
TOOL's current small venue tour stops in Detroit tonight (Monday, May 15) and concludes on May 21 in Boston.
Bassist Justin Chancellor told MTV.com that the group's next North American trek, an eight-week swing through arenas, will begin in August and run through late September.

Too many projects could compromise everything and if Maynard is going to focus on wine, he should give up APC and concentrate on his 2 main projects, Tool and wine. Spreading himself too thin is going to take it's toll on Tool since he seems to have no problem focusing on wine during Tool's tour which is fine but that APC crap needs to stop.

Brother Maynard, As previously reported on Blabbermouth...
In a recent interview with France's Rock Hard magazine, APC frontman Maynard James Keenan — who is about to release a new album with his main band, TOOL — revealed that A PERFECT CIRCLE has likely reached the end of the road as a touring and recording entity. Asked what the future holds for A PERFECT CIRCLE, Maynard said, "I think it's over," before adding, "We pushed this project as far as it could go, and I see ourselves playing again together only in a few years to make one or two songs, nothing more."
Too bad....APC was an awesome band.

Its good to see that everytime there is a Tool thread their fans really display their loyalty and everyone that posts absolutely agrees that this is a great band.
Good to see that everyone who has posted so far is an absolute dedicated fan and cares enough to post comments for Tool. They deserve it because we all know what a great band they are.
One of the best out there today and we all know its unargueable.

Great cd. But really just Lateralus part 2 vibe to it. I have to admit there is some lows in it where you just wish the song would get going. Hopefully we don't have to wait forever for the next cd.
I would really like to see them go back do an album more in the style of there first three albums. Much more entertaining to listen to day in and day out. If you know what I mean.

personally I'm not a fan of Tool. Not because I think they suck, but because their music just isn't my thing. Listened to a few albums and just couldn't get into it. No offense intended to those guys. However, I've got to give all the respect in the world for them debuted at #1 and selling so well. I mean, Tool is, for metal purposes sake, a commercial band. But you're not gonna see these guys on fucking TRL or anything like that. And of course, these guys have never compromised their integrity for the sake of selling more albums. And for that, I saw massive fucking kudos to Tool.

I like Tool as much as anyone else, but for the most part, this new album is completely boring and uninspiring. All the fanboism in the world ain't gonna change that.
Where's the edginess? Where's the heaviness?

1. Fuck anyone who thinks they can 'do better' than Tool. I don't care, nor does anyone else. You are lame. If you are as good as you say you are, then when are you on tour? I will come and watch.
2. Yeah, the album sounds like Tool, which is like the other albums - WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE TOOL. Why complain that it sound like Tool? That's who it is....what should they have done- a techno album or something? I don't like Slayer that much.....so to me all of thier shit is the same. But that's why they are Slayer, an that's why heaps of dudes dig em - they do what they do.

TOOL's Lateralus is probably one of the greatest pieces of composed music ever...
Im not gonna go in complete detail here because most of the fuckin idiots wont actually understand what I'm saying...
But anyway, we all know the Fibonacci Sequence is present in the drum beat of Lateralus's title track...but it actually goes a lot deeper than that...
But if you graph the sequence you'll find track 13 to be the middle track and track 6 and 7 to be the first tracks...so the track listing should TRULY should be 6,7,5,8,4,9,13,1,12,2,11,3,10....its basically sounds like one giant song... and its message its best part.
how did i know? The ending lyrics of Lateralus talk about the spiral (the graph of the fibonacci sequence having 13 being the highest # because thats highest number of beats Danny Carey uses in the beggining)...btw, i did some of research, not all.
theres more i could go into but most likely im gonna get flamed for it or something...
Lateralus = amazing.

you went into detail. this is actually a really good blog (article whatever). about 90% of the post are positive. i feel somewhat proud lol. I love Tool...new album is pretty sweet. some of the most complicated music i've ever heard. crazy rhythms. they amaze me with their talent.
