PERRY FARRELL Planning Summer Arrival For New Band

Launch Radio Networks reports: Ex-JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell is hoping to release the debut album from his new band, SATELLITE PARTY, this summer, according to Billboard.com. The self-titled disc will feature guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante, as well as BLACK EYED PEAS vocalist Fergie, NEW ORDER bassist Peter Hook and Farrell's wife, Etty. The group also features former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.
SATELLITE PARTY made its live debut at last year's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, with tentative plans to appear at this August's event as well.
Farrell described the group as a "hybrid," adding, "We combine some rock elements and elements of choir and a big healthy dose of rock'n'roll. It is lush and beautiful and sexy and loaded with energy."
A single called "Dogstar" is expected to surface before the album's release, with Farrell saying that the group is close to signing a major record deal.
The singer also told Billboard that a JANE'S ADDICTION boxed set is in the works, along with DVD releases of Farrell's 1989 short film, "Soul Kiss", and 1993 movie "Gift".

Perry is cool- always interested to see what he's up to.
As far as milking it goes- come on, every single band that's been around for more than a year or two does that.
It's exasperated by the fact that many, many "fans" refuse to give anything a chance that's new from an artist that is past (insert random date or career development here). Music, film, books, etc.- people don't continue to suppport and then they turn around and decry the artist living off the past.
This is ESPECIALLY true in music- we all know bands make way more money on the road, but when the bands come around, too many "fans" will say "Oh I can't make the show, I have to watch my TiVo," or "Oh I can't make the show, little Dylan and Tyler have an upset tummy from the chicken nuggets I fed them." A lot of bands bust their asses on the road for weeks and months, and the "fans" can't spare an hour or two to come to the show, but they'll spend 4 or 5 hours bashing the same bands on a message board.

Jane's Addiction would be going fine if it wasn't for addictions in the band...
People probably spend hours on message boards because it is "cheaper"...you are right about bands making money touring because they charge so much money for a ticket...who can afford it?

I personally think this sounds like it will be really cool. There are some amazing musicians coming together here. I say don't bash it until you've heard it, no matter how "hardcore metal" you think you may be.

What was wrong with 'Strays'? I think it is a fucking good solid album from start to finish. Just because it doesn't have your hero Eric, it doesn't mean it sucks.
