A number of photos of GUNS N' ROSES' acoustic performance for actress Rosario Dawson on her birthday at the Plumm in New York Thursday night (May 18) have been posted online. GUNS N' ROSES will headline KROQ's Inland Invasion 2006 on September 23 at the Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen in Devore, California. GN'R frontman Axl Rose revealed the news Friday (May 19) during an on-air segment with KROQ hosts Kevin and Bean. It will be the band's first Los Angeles gig in more than 15 years, Rose said. the new demos sound better than most old gnr, which is fairly terrible, and the new musicians axl is playing with are infinitely more talented than the classic lineup.
it's his band, don't bitch, i know i will be downloading chinese democracy and trying to see it live, and until both happen it's hard to be judgemental

that plastic surgery aint workin,plus izzy is back for some $$$$ and sells axl some songs to put on Chi Dem. But at the same time with rap going through itz glam rock phase (anyone with a bandanna and grillz gets a record deal) if the album is released some good rock will be great.Wont be as big cause MTV makes more $$$ on rap videos than rock !!
Slash and Duff aint going back cause at 40 something they aint taking any shit without bust Axl's streched face up

Well, like it or not, VR has sold a couple of million copies stateside alone, so I think Slash & Duff proved that they can still be relevant in today's world (please don't try to get into a childish argument about "just cause 2 million people bought a record doesn't make them a good band," because it doesn't prove anything to me that a band that sells 10,000 copies of something is better because they have more "street cred" - those bands would love to have platinum sales just the same); but this is besides the point. With any artist, the best output is usually their earliest. Yeah, maybe Slash & Duff had a couple of misteps before recapturing relevant popularity (Snakepit, solo stuff, other projects), but it's hard to capture lightning in a bottle twice - Axl has the benefit of legally owning the GnR b(r)and name, which is half the marketing battle (the other is having Axl's voice in this case).
I was at the Sunday show. While I enjoyed it, it definitely did not feel like a GnR show. It was Axl with a real good cover band of has-beens and never-weren't's. Bumblef*ck provides no value to me. Finck and Fortus and Stinson did not write these songs, so the sentimental connection to the songs isn't there, although I respect Finck & Fortus' playing abilities.
Nevertheless, Axl has every right to play the old songs live, and he still pulls it off great. But it's a garbage statement to say these hired guys are any better than Slash. Or Izzy. Or Duff.
Hell, I still don't even consider Dizzy a real member; he was an add-on musician for UYI. Gilby Clarke to me was never a real member either - he was a hired touring guitarist (I may be wrong, but his recording output with GnR I believe was limited to parts of Spaghetti Incident, if at all, since SI was mostly recorded at the same time as UYI I & II).
The "classic lineup" is what is gold to me in this band; it's too bad that Popcorn is too screwed up to be able to ever make that happen, so I would have to settle for Sorum.

These guys can't write a good tune at all. This band proves Slash and Duff cannot create a memorable riff without Izzy and Axl guiding them. They are great players and have great stage presence but their writing ability blows. The intro guitar to sweet child o' mine was Axl's genius. Slash was playing that as a joke in the studio and Axl was like "hey play that again" Slash says" are you freakin serious"? . Axl made that silly circus riff the intro to sweet child and the rest is history . That intro is one of the most famous and recognizable riffs in Rock n'oll history. Without Axl that riff goes unnoticed. Slash hated sweet child o' mine. He didn't want it on Appettitte, goes to show how much he knows , That is the song that put GNR on the map and is recognized as one of the greatest song of all time . People are still waiting for that special Rock group to which they can latch onto and it wasn't Velvet Revolver or else nobody would give a shit about Axl rose. We should be rooting for Axl's success in hopes it can bring back some real rock n' roll .

FINE. BUT AXL DIDN'T WRITE THAT RIFF, SLASH DID. YOU CAN'T DENY ALL THE OTHER GREAT SONGS SLASH HAS COME UP WITH RIFFS FOR EITHER. AND LIKE THEM OR NOT VELVET REVOLVER CAN WRITE SONGS. AXL CAN SING, WRITE GREAT LYRICS, AND WHATEVER BUT DON'T DISCREDIT WHAT THE ACTUAL BANDMEMBERS(YOU KNOW, THE ONES WHO PLAY THE ACTUAL INSTRUMENTS?) DID. Axl rose rock superstar? or just a plain old joke? is Axl for real thinking that he could continue the G n R rock seen with out Slash Duff and Matt i think that that is a bloody joke. there is no such think as Guns n roses. once they ( referring to matt duff and slash) left guns the only to member left is Axl Rose now with that said that is not really guns n roses. i dont even think that he can rock and stnad out and not afrid to be different now he got blonde cornrows, what happend to the firey redhead, headbanging axl we used to once know and love. and what happend to his voice. thats not music what he is singing now and i think he is actully starting to sound like robert plant. I dont blame Slash duff and matt for geting out while there names where ahead and leaving axl on his crash course on his own. Axl's 2002 performance at the mtv music awards when he "Tryed" to belt out welcome to the jungle just didnt do it for me. i believe axl has gotten lost in what he is doing and has forgotten what "welcome to the jungle" really stands for. To talk about Axl reliablity. the us actully canceled the rest of his tours for him because he was just not able to do them he either be really late or just not show up. i really wish axl would stop useing guns n roses name on all his crappy songs.oh ya by the way LONG LIVE VELVET REVOLVER!!!
