AEROSMITH Working With MATCHBOX TWENTY Singer ROB THOMAS - May 20, 2006
According to the Orlando Sentinel, MATCHBOX TWENTY singer Rob Thomas was headed into the studio last week to work on a track for AEROSMITH — presumably to be included on the band's new studio album, tentatively due late 2006/early 2007.

According to The Boston Globe, AEROSMITH's new album will be produced by Steve Lillywhite, who has worked with U2 and MORRISSEY. The band will enter the studio on May 20 to begin laying down tracks.

People magazine reported earlier in the month that Tyler was recovering from his recent throat surgery by vacationing in Mexico with his new girlfriend, tour promoter Erin Brady. [See scan of People article at Steven-Tyler.net.]

AEROSMITH were forced to cancel a bunch of shows on their spring tour after Tyler suffered a broken blood vessel in his voice box. He recently told RollingStone.com that the injury is all healed.

He is the worst. Complete and utterly a waste of oxygen. This new record will definitely suck.

Nice to know you Aerosmith, you had a good run, a bunch of decent hits a long time ago but now it's just tripe.

If Joe Perry had any sense he would leave again and start playing real rock n' roll. Totally wasting his talents now.

Maynard...saxonrulz is wrong...those albums werent even blips on the radar...dont you dare tarnish Saxons utter dominanace during the NWOBHM over clearly lesser bands that got more attention. The "new" shit is horrible and they have treated their fans to a huge diservice. They cost me well over a grand in planning for their show. As far as I'm concerned Saxon lost it in a big way when the lineup split.

I know you guys really want Saxon back as it was but time has passed. I love those ld records as much as anyone but they fucked their fans over in a big way. I have lost total respect for them. I was the only motherfucker in my school rockin the eagle logo and top and bottom rockers reppin Saxon. Everyone else had priest and maiden.

A seriously disappointed EX-saxon fan

armored saint gets all the mone I would have spent on Saxon.

Blahblahmouth are you stoned?

Armored Taint isn't worth the plastic their music is pressed on and you say what you say in light of Saxon? Dude, you've said a few things I agree with but your totally off on this one. Armored Taint has got to be one of the worst bands on the planet of all time, hands down. John Bush is also terrible and his days in Anthrax are even worse. Just plain god awful, bland tripe and extensively boring as hell. You could pay to go see Armored Saint only if it included an open bar and I would actually get that time back.

I was stating that Lionheart was a good effort in light of a few previous sketchy releases but of course nothing compares to the days of those released before Crusader. Sure, the good ole days of NWBHM is long gone but music lives. Yes, I want them back and I want them to tour the west coast.

I wouldnt bub them terrible after youve sang the praises of new Saxon. I will definately check them out after all these years and Bush's vocals are by far more tolerable than belladonnas. March was an awesome album compared to everything else coming out of L.A. at the time. They werent as good as early saxon but fell less than Saxon did. Saxon was just plain terrible after their heyday.

I guess the vocal issue of Anthrax will always be debateble. I grew up on Belladonna and those albums with him were my thrash along with Megadeth, the decent days of Metallica, Testament and Slayer. To me Anthrax died when Belladonna left and it wouldn't have matted who they got. But Bush got in there and I just can't the Taint so I completely ignored them entirely and to this day can't listen to those CDs. Kind of like when Ripper took over for Halford. Just couldn't do it. I felt I was betraying everything I and that era stood for.

Armored Taint also didn't have as far to fall as Saxon. Saxon was on a pedestal for so long and so high but has had it's terrible moments and I'm with you on that but I liked Lionheart and it had some soul in it not heard for some time. Others may not hear it but I'm old timey metal head and when it comes to Saxon, I'm a soft touch. To me they are best and most underrated band on the whole NWBHM. I also dig Magnum but they never showed their faces in the US that I was able to catch. Saxon and why they weren't huge is evident now but at the time it was frustrating and when I saw Maiden, Saxon and Girlschool it still ranks in the 20 shows of all time for me.

But hey, I just couldn't believe what I was reading your initial post. It's cool. All's right in the cyber metal realm.

Saxonrulz,I am sorry you picked one of the weakest bands to worship. You know WAYYYY too much about a band that was just BADDDD.Rock in a hard place didn't even have fuckin Joe perry or Brad whitford playing on it .It had Jimmy Crespo and some other dude.I have a cassette of it some where,it rocked but it was not Aerosmith. The music was but the band was 3/5 of the original.that being said I have always thought for the past fuckin decade or more that they are a fuckin parody of themselves at this point.

I never liked the imagery. The whole knights of the realm nevver did it for me in any form. No matter what band. I hate dragonslayer shit. They had some good sound and some good songs as well. Way better than that odin bullshit.

Sorry, man. I just think its really funny when people get so upset on here that they have to hammer down on the caps lock key to express their emotions. Saxon may have been rock and roll, and are definitely underrated, but I'd say that Aerosmith can hold their own against them. Granted, Aerosmith's studio efforts, minus Honkin' on Bobo, haven't been that great lately, but they still tear it up live. I'm nervous about the Rob Thomas thing, but you never know. Regardless, I'll still go out and by it.

kick major ass with the exception of a couple of albums in the mid to late 80s. i dont know what the fuck you are talking about blah in terms of them fucking you over. i hung out with them in 1987,2000 and 2002 and though yes there was a big line up change biff & co where still the coolest guys every thime i met them, THEY got fucked here in the states becouse they should have been up there with maiden and def leppard back in the 80s but they kept truckin along and re adapted there heavy sound in 1990 and put out solid ball of rock, i bet you have not even heard lionheart its the best fuckin thing in years. as for the rock in a hard place record i know damn well joe was not on it but regardless it was the last great aerosmith album. IVE BEEN CRANKIN SAXON SINCE 1981 AND IT GETS BETTER WITH AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aerosmith and saxon should not be talked about in the same breath ever again. Aerosmith=rock legend...saxon=small footnote in hard rock history!!!

That is a very bad idea... Shit. Aerosmith, if you can't write your stuff, don't record a fuckin' album. Why do you always look for a fucking hit? You're Aerosmith, the cd will sell!

Do you remember Thomas' last solo hit? It sucked even more than Matchbox 20, which is quite hard to beat.

keeforever said what I was going to say.

Let Brad Whitford write something Steve. He only wrote the 2 ballsiest songs ever in Aerosmith's catalog.

Round and Round & Nobody's Fault

Tom Hamilton co-wrote SWEET EMOTION

Joe Perry has written countless classic songs.

WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU NEED OUTSIDE WRITERS FOR?

but look at what happened to santana's career with the release of the track "smooth." the album supernatural has probably sold 10 million copies. aerosmith doing these reeks of commercialism. no doubt they are hoping for similar figures with this stunt. together, all of them are going to suck and blow. but mainstream will probably love it.
