DAVID LEE ROTH Says Contrasting Styles Led To End Of Radio Show

Launch Radio Networks reports: David Lee Roth could be bitter about how his syndicated morning radio show ended last month, but he's actually more philosophical about the whole thing. Rather than lash out at his old bosses, Roth told Launch it was more a clash of styles that led to his firing. "They were looking for familiar morning radio, and I gave them a warm and happy little corner candy store — but Tony Soprano was selling guns out of the back room. (laughs) Which to me is familiar and warm. (laughs) Maybe they live in a different neighborhood — whaddya think?"
Roth was hired with much fanfare as a replacement for Howard Stern, and the show debuted on several radio stations on January 3. While some people enjoyed the program, it didn't really look like there would be significant ratings increases, and he was let go at the end of April.
Roth will reportedly be embarking on an extensive U.S. tour — consisting of 30 dates or so — beginning in late June. So far the following dates have been released:
Jun. 28 - House of Blues – Chicago, IL
Jun. 30 - Summer Celebration - Muskegon, MI
Jul. 01 - Summerfest - Milwaukee, WI

His show ended because of him. . . . and nobody else.
He was too wired for someone just waking up and driving to work at 6:00 am.
He was all over the map subject wise and it was frustrating as hell to listen to.
Driving to work is stressful enough without Neutron Dance looped in the background for 45 minutes.
He laughed at his own stupid jokes.

You'd be surprised what my age is. No joke.
I listed reasons why I thought Dave's show went off the air.
I tried to listen to it every day for three months, in my car on my way to work . . . . so yes I'm over 12.
I'm a Dave fan. I saw him with VH in 81 and and on the Eat em and Smile Tour. He was awesome. One of the best frontmen ever.
I really wanted his radio show to kick in and and do well.
It never happened. I was disappointed because it should have been so much better. He's a very creative guy.
He DID laugh at his own jokes.
If you don't know that, you weren't listening.
and BOTH OF OUR NAMES ARE STUPID. I'll admit it.
Let's see if you can.

I don't understand how anyone can like Dave. Sure, maybe he was a great singer in a great band twenty some years ago, but he is SOOOOOOO annoying. He thinks is so important. He rambles on about god only knows what and thinks he is a genius.

That show was terrible, period. Dave was a great frontman, and he owned when Eat Em and smile came out. Such a shame he botched that "reunion" thing. EGO!!!

I just gotta say, where did DLR and EVH go wrong?
Egos, bad personalities , drugs what?
They had one of the greatest bands in the late 70's and early 80's and then it disappeared and then came along vanhagar.
What a disappointment....

Ahem...
Jo Jo is a very charming name. Mecrocker makes no damn sense. Jo Jo's cracks about Mecrocker's name are witty and humorous. Mecrocker can come up with no such zings of his own, and he seems to be repeating himself. I'm starting to get the feeling that he was the type who stuffed nerds into the lockers at his highschool because he was jealous of their intellectual prowess.

Mecrocker, GET A LIFE! You sound like the kind of guy who plays World of Warcraft all day, desperately wanting to get laid, yet making no effort to get off the computer.
Also, I know the dude was an asshole and all, but does anyone else feel bad for Dave? It seems like he's never been successful at anything shortly after he left Van Halen. Is it a case of bad fate? Or is it a case of him never realizing when to shut the hell up?

I'm a true David Lee Roth fan too. That's why I tortured myself for 3 MONTHS listening to his show hoping it would improve. I was embarrassed for him.

Contrasting schmasting. The show was flat out boring. I hung in there as long as I could. DLR has always been a consummate (sp?) showman, and his interviews in the media have been highly amusing, but this show was not. If they hadn't kept saying his name every 5 minutes, I would have never even known it was him. I kept hoping the front man for Van Halen would show up, but every morning we got the conservative side. Huh? And his "cohorts"? Beyond lame. Then after they got the boot, he seemed totally lost. Too bad. Well, Opie and Anthony are pretty funny when the alarm goes off, anyway. And as far as the VH reunion, even if they did it, it would be like the Cream reunion, IMHO...i.e., they waited too long. Meaningless.

First off, i figured Roth's show would fail. He is just so annoying now that i think most people just don't want to hear him.
And Mecrocker. Are you 13? This whole "AHAHAHA , JAAA, BOOO" I mean, it makes me think i'm listenin to Neal Boortz in ATL "BOO GOT SHOT BOO GOT SHOT". Repeating yourself like that and fake laughing. Grow up man.

Those were Louis Prima's words, not Dave's. He covered that sone as well as many others. Very weell, I might add.
As for the guy who keeps posting that Hagar will be playing bigger shows than Dave - WRONG. Sammy plays the same type of places unless he's with Van Halen. Example: this July, Dave will be playing summerfest and Sammy will be playing Rockfest. They are both July shows in Wisconsin. Summerfest attracts WAY more people and is in Milwaukee (the other is in the middle of nowhere.) Sammy plays House of Blues or the equivalent in Chicago and that's where Dave is playing. They both need VH to play arenas!!

this guy has a ego the size of europe.....his radio show was like listening to a dentist drill......this is a guy who should have died with the 80's...... sammy was better in van halen then you.....the reason van ahlen was popular when he was the singer is eddie was laying down some heavy shit on the axe.....that is the reason van halen was so popular......time to and be a e.m.t again.....

Given a 2nd chance and he blew it with Van Halen.
Micheal Anthony recently said in a interview that Van Halen is broke uo due to the fact that he and Sammy toured together.
