TAPROOT To Split With ATLANTIC RECORDS?

Gary Graff of Billboard.com is reporting that the members of TAPROOT are considering a future that may not include their current label, Atlantic Records, after the disappointing sales of their third album, "Blue Sky Research". "We had hoped for really big things," drummer Jarrod Montague said of "Blue Sky Research", which has sold 112,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, since its August 2005 release. "We worked really hard and made a record that we were really proud of, and we don't know what happened." "The situation with Atlantic is a little bit up in the air," Montague added. "There's a good chance we might end up parting ways with them at the end of this [album cycle]." Acording to Montague, TAPROOT view a possible exit from the major label fold as "another exciting thing for us," and are confident they can still thrive by handling their own affairs. "We have our fans all over the country that come out and support us, and we need to figure out how to best utilize that," he explained to Billboard.com. "There are so many ways to market yourself these days and keep in contact with fans. We didn't start TAPROOT to get famous; if we can play music and make enough money to sustain our growing lives and families, mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned. "So it's kind of an exciting time for us," he added. "We're really taking things over and doing more things for ourselves and keeping things in house, which I think is the best way to go right now." i remember when they were pushing their last album. they were saying all this stuff about how they weren't nu metal anymore. pretty much shit on everything they'd done previously.

Weren't they part of the big purge? I guess not. Didn't even know they were still around.
Taproot, Pitchshifter, Pushmonkey, Spike 1000, No One, Hed Pe, Papa Roach and all those similar bands, I couldn't tell one from the other if you played them back to back I might even go mad.
Now there's a tour! All these bands should put together the NoKnozzUsFest.

There first album was pretty good I heard. Gift, i think it wuz called.
WELCOME wuz a TERRIBLE album. Not the best band around
But i honestly wonder why ppl categroize bands like taproot, godsmack etc. as nu-metal??

Pitchshifter?????? You really need to do your research on this band instead of lumping them into a pit with the others! Pitchshifter are bloody amazing! one of the best British industrial bands!

Taproot really have become an amazing band over the years. If you had heard their first album "Gift", it was just your standard nu-metal crap. But since then they've drastically improved over each album and have become a terrific band. I know most of you will bash them just because they came out during the nu-metal craze, but believe me they've moved on to much better things. I wish them the best of luck in the future.

How about the fact that NU-METAL is dead??? These guys WERE talking about how they were never a NU-METAL band when everyone who knows a thing or 2 about music would easily see that these guys WERE Nu-Metal or at least as close to it as a band could get. So they tried the PR move of trying to "escape the trappings" of the nu-metal tag. I saw the articles posted HERE on Blabber. Well, they failed and that's why they sell no records. Look, if Fred Durst was trying to sign these guys than they're NU METAL by default right there. Even if they're not the prototypical Nu-Metal band they're automatically labeled so just by that association alone.
Obviously, RoachJoe says their Nu-Metal. He knows so much about music from what I've seen in his posts. They must be Nu-Metal and Led ZEPPELIN sucks ass...... right. Ahhh Blabbermouth, the place I go for REAL comedy!
The next logical step for Taproot is to go EMO of course. Then I want to see Taproots' defenders on here saying that they had to "progress" with their sound in order to survive.

I've been a fan for a long time they're just different then other bands. Ya you can consider them nu-metal but they're good, and put on a good fucking show. I hope they can make another album like their first one Gift. Welcome and Bluesky Research were good too. To many people are just to anal about fucking music whats metal whats not but who cares if it sounds good then it does can't do anything about it. I like all kinds of metal old and new, fucking hate emo and can't stand punk thats my opinion, but I respect if any band can put out albums and have a fanbase because so many people dream of being able to do it.
