DOWN: Stockholm Show Downgraded Due To Poor Ticket Sales - May 24, 2006
Due to poor ticket sales, DOWN's June 6, 2006 show in Stockholm, Sweden has been moved from the 1500-plus-capacity Arenan to the 600-capacity Klubben. The disappointing response to the gig is believed to be at least partly due to the fact that the Sweden Rock festival is taking place June 8-10 in Sölvesborg, Sweden, with many people expected to leave for the festival site the day of the DOWN show or having set aside all their cash for Sweden Rock.

DOWN is the the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA). The group kicked off their first-ever European tour on May 19 and are expected to remain on the road until mid-June.

As previously reported, DOWN have announced that they will be filming shows on their spring/summer European tour for an upcoming DVD. The band will also begin work on new material shortly after returning home from the trek and are tentatively planning on entering the studio in September to begin recording their third album.

DOWN's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records. The band headlined the second stage at the 2002 Ozzfest.

Isnt the real reason for poor ticket sales that Down suck?

Or maybe the fans are still "down" on Anselmo.

OK I admit that was bad.

you people really need to give Phil a break. yeah, so he screwed up Pantera. he's probably trying to put that all behind him now and get on with his life. and what about the rest of the guys? Down is NOT the Phil Anselmo band, like Superjoint Ritual was. and they certainly do NOT suck. their 2nd album was awesome. and I think they have the potential to be more popular now than they ever were.

Well, we are living in a global economy, whether we like it or not. When I saw Down in Columbus, Ohio, a few years ago, it was packed (and it was an 1800-capacity venue).

It's on a national holiday and the day before lot's of otherwise possible ticket buyers are heading to Sweden Rock Festival. They should have played there instead......

It's a 1500 capacity club and it's far from sold out. They are just not very big in Europe I guess, and I think a lot of people see Anselmo as a burned out has-been. But I for one would have loved to see them at a 600 capacity place instead of a 1500 one.

Atleast I'm going to the show, I was a bit suprised that they didn't sell out "Arenan" and that the gig was moved to "Klubben" instead. But this will be a 'up and close' gig and I can't wait

"tour the usa..."

That's right. We've got dumbasses that will even show up for Ozzfest, Kornfest, and St. Metallica. We'll buy tickets to see a horse shit it a bucket if you'll provide beer for $6 a cup. We've got people going to "Guns N Roses" shows just to see a parody of an old 80's band. Surely we've got someone who will pay to see Phil's stupid ass.

This gig is on Tuesday the 6th. The festival starts at Thursday the 8th. Almost everyone leave their homes the 7th. The trip from Stockholm to the festival is about 350 miles. 5 hours by car. Sweden is as big as California and Oregon together. Let's face it. Almost no one wanna see this band.

Anselmo WAS PANTERA if it wasn't for him that sound would have never beeen. He told Dime when to shift gears and make it heavy....if it was up too Vinnie and Dime (Dime was a guitar King) it would have sounded just like Damageplan ya fucks all clean and nice. The band would have been called Nickeltera so fuck off Anselmo is the man the kid whatever he wants to be but he was the driver of the machine Panfuckingtera.

Down only had one great album, and it was their first one, the other one was a blah piece of blah..

And why do they go to sweden and not play the biggest festival for metal there is? Everybody is hundreds of miles from stockholm at that festival or going to it, while DOWN visit stockholm on 6 -6 -6, thery're in the wrong place, did nobody tell them they should be at SWEDEN ROCK? Or apparently nobody at sweden rock wanted DOWN to come! lol

i hate phil, he is one of those people that come to mind everytime that an innocent person dies, and you think, "why wasn't that phil instead"

apparently phil gets every wish he makes, "harm on Dime", well yes, you've got it...
