Arthur editor Jay Babcock will be appearing on national progressive radio network AirAmericaRadio's "The Marc Moran Show" on Monday, May 29 in a 20-minute segment taped earlier that afternoon at their Burbank studio. He'll be discussing the Arthur vs. GODSMACK episode (get more details here) and also Arthur's forthcoming CD (curated by Josephine Foster) which will benefit anti-military recruiting campaigns. Listeners on the Internet can stream live at www.airamericaradio.com while the show is on the air, and Air America Premium members can podcast and hear archived shows they missed.

is a jacackass for how he ambushed Sully. I do not even listen to Godsmack... but Sully went in to talk about music and this guy had a completely different agenda. Sully made great points about how this "journalist" has the freedom to be the way he is BECAUSE he lives in the U.S.A. No country is without fault, but our country does its best to always better our situation and others. No other country in history has done more for the abolishment of slavery, advancement of minorities and women... just human rights in general, that the U.S.A. As for the information this guy has to back up his claims, journalist only use info that backs up their already established presumptions. I am a fan of Godsmack, and Sully, now.

That Air America radio was dead and gone? Seriously, I normally don't want to start a political war but it's too late now! I'm sick of all these left-wing IDIOTS! I work in a bookstore and yesterday I ran across Howard Dean's book, "You have the Power: How to restore Democracy in our Country" or whatever. Excuse me, but when are these stupid fucks going to quit whining about "restoring democracy?" Democracy never left!!! People keep talking about how our freedoms are being taken away--but mine aren't--and won't be until I lose my job due to an influx of illegals that are being allowed in to appease assholes like Ted Kennedy and pander to the useless hispanic vote (If the hispanics here are mad enough at the government over deportation of illegals, they won't vote and then it won't matter).
Seriously, the fact that some of these idiots can get on the radio, or write books, and talk about the loss of our freedoms just PROVES that they still have their freedom. You think China, or Cuba, or Afghanistan would let you publish an anti-government book or conduct a scathing on-air attack of the government? I swear, one of the things that bothers me about being American is that I live in a country full of fucking ingrateful assholes! Seriously--We have the freedom to pursue "The American Dream," some even have that freedom that have not legally been granted it--people are free to believe or not believe in God, or any other deity, people can pretty much exercise their freedom as long as they don't murder or harm anyone. If that's not good enough for you, then fuck off! With the exception of our stance on hard drugs (which will end up doing only one thing--killing you) we are absolutely as free as any country in the world, and freer than just about all of them. I wish people would quit bitching about everything that's wrong for once and just count their blessings and be thankful they have the right to share their opinions, however clueless, ignorant, hateful, or stupid they may be. Here's an interesting story to that :

As I write these words, I'm sitting at a crowded gate at the Los Angeles airport awaiting the redeye to Roanoke. I've just gone through security screening, and I've rarely felt so violated. After waiting in line for 25
minutes to check in, I'm told I have to wait again for my bag to be X-rayed.
Another 25 minutes.
Given the amount of free time I had, I decided to spend some of it contemplating what a thoroughly useless gesture the X-ray screening is. I
understand the purpose is to prevent bombs from finding their way onto
planes through checked bags, but the chances of actually detecting a bomb
from someone who seriously wants to blow up an airplane must surely be
minuscule. But I digress.
No doubt, its real intention is to make travelers feel better, subsidized by
the taxpayers to the tune of God knows how much.
After clearing the X-ray line, it gets interesting. My boarding pass and ID
are checked before proceeding to security. Then, they're checked again by
someone 15 feet away from the first checkpoint who saw me get checked the
first time. Weird.
Then, the actual line for personal screening. Remove the laptop from its
case. Simply can't risk it blowing up. When it's finally my turn to walk
through the metal detector, the gentleman in charge of waving people through
politely reminds me that it's recommended that I remove my shoes.
Then, he reminds me again. I respond, "Yes, I heard you." Another warning,
this time less polite, "We strongly recommend you remove your shoes, sir!"
Again, I respond, "I understand." I walk through the metal detector
uneventfully.
But my friend hasn't forgotten my impertinence. "Now you've done it. You get
to go through the special line!" The special line consisted of five solid
minutes of probing with wands, patting down, spread this way, turn that way,
etc. And I still had to take my shoes off. So, I guess what they mean when
they say that shoe removal is recommended is that it's required. Bizarre.
They should just say that. It would've spared me a public probing that I
could live without.
So, this is the legacy of 9/11. This is part of our fearsome response to the
terrorists. We'll inconvenience them. Doubly so if they don't remove their
shoes. The point of this rambling essay, and I can assure you it does have
one, isn't that one average Joe couldn't be bothered to take his shoes off.
It's the whole security versus freedom issue. How can we legitimately claim
that we're preserving freedom when our response to terrorism is the exactly
opposite of that?
After the collapse of the twin towers, our Congress, in a patriotic fervor
(more exactly described as a mad panic), passed sweeping legislation that
did more to strip away freedom from the American people than 1,000 flying
bombs. The Patriot Act. The very name is cynical.
One observation I've made is how frequently we Americans confuse security
and freedom. Here's an example.
The war in Iraq was justified by claims that Saddam had weapons of mass
destruction and he might use them on us, or he might give them to terrorists
to use on us.
Neglecting for a moment the morphing nature of the justification for the
war, we were, and are, daily informed that our soldiers over there are
fighting for our freedom.
In fact, this isn't true. They're fighting for our security, and even the
truth of that is dubious at best. The only time a war becomes about
preserving the freedom of a nation is when the nation is in some way
threatened with the loss of said freedom.
Despite his presumed madness and regardless of the number of WMD he did or
didn't have, Saddam didn't have the power to remove a single iota of freedom
from any American. No action he could take could conceivably result in a
loss of freedom. There was never even the slightest of chances that we would
see an Iraqi invasion force land on our shores.
Now, one may be able to argue that his remaining in power hypothetically
threatened Americans. But taking someone's life and taking someone's freedom
are two different things. Saddam could only kill me; he couldn't take my
freedom. So logically, it isn't freedom that our troops are fighting for,
but security. But I suppose that makes a somewhat less poetic rallying cry.
Now, the president is a different story. He can actually take away a great
deal of my freedom. And boy, has he been busy!
Ironic that we're actually called to sacrifice portions of our freedom for
the Patriot Act, and the justification is that it preserves freedom. Talk
about Orwellian.
Bush and his cronies are therefore, logically, the real enemies of freedom.
Lest you think me a member of the John Kerry fan club, I think it's fair to
say that there are no greater enemies of freedom than the liberals. I just
think that, in this case, ol' W is giving them a run for their money.
So, let's be honest with ourselves in this debate. Let's not lie and
proclaim "Give me liberty or give me death!" when what we really mean is
"I'm a coward; I surrender the freedoms my forefathers died for in order to
save my miserable hide!" Is that not, after all, exactly what we mean?

I used to work with a lot of latino workers and they all voted for Bush on the last election. Not sure wether they were legal or not. This Babcock fuck wad is a piece of shit. i totally agree with that. That's why i felt sorry for Sully, and I don't think he was ready for that. Usually interviewers treat their interviewees like guests. This guy seemed pretty cold and unfriendly.

I hate Godsmack to me they are just bad Alice in Chains, but that interview was a total ambush job. He did not seem to be upfront with his line of questioning plus he would not let up with it it either. Guys like that give the left a bad name. Of course this is the only time that any of us have heard of Arthur magazine so their circulation cannot be that high. Look at their wbpage and it look like one of those pre-made ones from geocities.

Air America loses NYC flagship
Station dumping liberal radio network's programming

The struggling liberal network Air America Radio will lose its flagship station in New York City this summer, according to the industry publication Mediaweek.
Air America's lease for WLIB-AM ran out March 31, and the network acquired an extension that lasts only until Aug. 31.
Under new management, WLIB will continue with a "progressive-talk" format but replace Air America's fare with local programming.
An Air America spokesman insisted, however, the network would continue in New York City.
"To be clear, Air America will not go silent on the New York City airwaves. We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation," the spokesman said, according to Mediaweek.
Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity had the highest-rated radio talk shows in the New York City market from January through March, according to the Drudge Report.
Air America's most prominent host, Al Franken, ranked 12th.
As WorldNetDaily reported last fall, Air America had no measurable audience in the nation's capital according to the Arbitron rating service.
After WWRC-AM in Washington, D.C., recorded a mere fraction of a rating point in the spring with syndicated shows from the likes of lefty talkers Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo and Stephanie Miller, Arbitron couldn't detect a measurable listenership for the station in the summer quarter, the Washington Post said.
The news came on the heels of the network asking its listeners to send in money, a financial scandal involving money siphoned from a Boys & Girls Club in New York City, a California radio station pleading for advertisers to sponsor the programming claiming it could not get a single ad, and a host apologizing for what some thought were threats against President Bush's life.
