DIMEFEST 2006: Lineup, Running Order Announced

The 2006 edition of Dimefest — the annual benefit concert in remembrance of late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott — will take place on Saturday, August 19 at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, TX. Last year's event was almost completely sold out and this year is sure to be equally successful.
Dimefest 2006 lineup:

11:45 - PREMENISHEN (Abilene, TX)
10:45 - DRIVEN BELOW (Dallas, TX)
09:55 - COURSE OF RUIN (Round Round, TX)
09:05 - PROOFED (Dallas, TX)
08:15 - KALIYA (Dallas, TX)
07:25 - STATUS HATE (Dallas, Texas)
06:35 - THREAT LEVEL (Kokomo, IN)
05:45 - SPLINTER (Ft. Worth, TX)
04:55 - PLAGUE (San Antonio, TX)
04:05 - SCUM SCUNGE (Dallas, TX)
There will be a Dean tribute guitar raffled off at the show and much more. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund, which has been set up to help the victims of the December 8, 2004, Alrosa Villa shootings in Columbus, Ohio.

I've seen some of these bands and they Fucking Blow !
The band PROOFED's logo last time I saw was a direct rip off from the Pantera font. More like a wanna be Pantera.
None of these bands do justice to rep Mr Abbott

How the fuck would you know if these bands are any good or not if you haven't given them a chance. You just find comfort in slamming some band you never heard of 'cause it's easy. For all we know one of these bands could be the next big thing so stop being so shallow and ignorant. What do think bands wake up in the morning and are famous I only wish it worked that way.

- If that were to be the case the state of Texas Metal and metal in general is in a very poor state. I don't see how you can condone these crappy bands using Dime's name to make a profit. I didn't see anywhere in this post that all proceeds were going to Dime's family. In fact they are exploiting his death for their gain. Again, this is not a very metal thing to do at all.

If they would say how much they donated last year with the whole "almost a sellout show statement" i would assume their hearts are in the right place, but insted i hear they wrote out a whopping 50$ check last year to the dime foundation smooth move dick faces rot in hell.

Ok, what they neglected to report was that Dimefest was originally created to not only raise money FOR THE OTHER VICTIMS of the Alla Rosa Villa disaster, but also to give Texas metal bands a chance to pay tribute to the man that inspired them to take the stage.

People need to stop making shit up 'cause they think it's not cool. If you believe in what you like and don't care what anyone else thinks - that makes you cool, be a leader not a follower. Just like any other famous person/idol who dies, there's gonna be constant profit from their death in one way or another. Bitching about it wont do shit except become redundant. Dime was the fucking man, but i for one will not be attending Dimefest. The lineup doesnt seem any good to me. more power to them if the money is being raised for a good cause.

Im not going to say anything negative about the people who dont like the idea because everyone should have thier opinion. I knew Dime personally because I live in Dallas and was at every show hanging out with him and Vinnie. One thing I do know is that when Dime was home off of the road, he was in the local scene here checking out bands and partying with them. How did he end up on so many CDs doing guitar work for local bands if he did not know any of them?
Secondly, this show was set up to honor a hero who did not die of drug overdose, natuaral causes, or bs like that, he died because of some damn idiot killing him. Therefore, in TX we still support the man who helped make this scene what it is today and the support he gave the bands here trying to make it.
I was also a great friend of Dave Williams and there was nothing around to pay tribute to him and now there are people who say "Dave Who?" So if this show keeps Dime's name alive and lets everyone remember what all he did for the music scene all over the world, not just in TX, I am all for it and will support it 100%.
All proceeds are going to the fund and noone is making a penny off of this event, so the people thinking there is money to be made off of Dime's name, your sadly mistaken.

psychotim is right. Anyone that knew Dime will know that he LOVED catching local bands. I am not 100% sure on this one, but I'd guess that the money goes to one of the different funds that Dime set up to help new bands/artists/guitarists struggling out there.

Dimefest 06 has bands on it that Darrell knew and loved along with his cousins playing on it. Along with the fact that thier are bands on it that he played on thier cds.
Since it is a tribute and money being donated to the memorial fund, the only thing anyone should be able to bitch about is that thier cheap asses cant afford to go see the show.
I will be there and so will many other people who want to keep the memory of Darrells life alive. Anyone else who bashes it was never a fuckin fan anyway.
