GUNS N' ROSES Manager Comments On ROCK IN RIO Performance

GUNS N' ROSES' manager, Merck Mercuriadis of Sanctuary Management, has commented on the band's appearance at the Rock In Rio festival on Saturday (May 27) in Lisbon, Portugal. In an e-mail that was sent to Sp1at, Merck said, "Overall it was an amazing night and an amazing crowd but we had problems with the band's monitor desk blowing up and there were many times that they could not hear. Axl [ Rose] had a muscle spasm probably caused by the slippery stage wings that slowed him down and gave him a lot of pain and he is working with a specialist in Milan to get through it. It was a really fun show and could have been worse all things considered and we're lucky we didn't cock it up any worse than we did." Following the band's recent four-night stand in New York City, their first live shows since late 2002, singer Axl Rose said, "We've just finished our four shows in NY and had an amazing time. NY has always been special and it feels great to be doing this again particularly in front of so many friends. I am very excited about Europe and getting back over here in September." The group, which features no original members from its classic lineup other than Axl, began a run of European festival shows on Thursday, May 25. Axl Rose has been saying that the band's long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy", will be out later this year.

Holy fuck.. I just lsitened to Sweet Child o' Mine. It is true that if you can't hear yourself on stage through the monitors it will fuck you up, the shit is cutting out all the time.. but still.. Axl should be able to sing WAY better than that, he's sang that fucking song enough that he should be able to sing it a capella no problem.. It's painfully obvious that he can't fuckin sing for shit anymore.. Especially from "Where do we go" and on, when the gutiars aren't coming out and it's just him./. holy fuck it's aweful... There is an excuse, becuase of the monitors blowing out, but even still.. He's really lost it.. he;s gonna be all fuckin embarassed now and cancel the shit.

anyone who says axl isnt doing well on this tour, hasnt been to a show,,he was great in nyc, his voice is strong and looks great. youtube just isnt the place to hear this, the audio is as bad as the video. Axl is back and is still the god of rock, i did not say gnr was back, i dont really care about the rest, axl is all i care about.

remember that the mix was fucked up only for the people at home watching on TV . the audience heard the show perfectly , and were surprised to hear how shitty the mix was on the stream. What they heard and what we heard was totally different. Stop hating on Axl already he rocks harder than most of the puissy kids out there today. Paul Rodgers is in his fifties and thin.

Axl doesn't sound as good live as he does on the albums? And this is news to who? He always was ropey when it came to live shows, just listen to the live cd and the Tokyo shows that they released. Gn'R live is more about just rocking out and goin nuts than listening to Axl. The whole appeal about them as a live act is wondering what the fuck will happen next!! So anyone whose saying Axl isnt singing great in that clip, well, maybe but then its par for the course, sometimes brilliant sometimes dodgy but always interesting.

If you have been to any of UYI tour shows or heard them axl doesnt sound much different, he actually sounds more like he did in 91. Don't listen to live era and think this is how he should be singing. He's got his raspy voice back unlike the 2002 tour. It sux that the mixing was so bad at that show, people who were there said the show was amazing, and maybe best gnr show ever.
