SLAYER: Video Footage From Recording Studio Posted Online

A 41-second video clip of SLAYER in the studio recording their new album has been posted online. Check it out in the following formats: Windows Media 220KWindows Media 300KWindows Media 450KWindows Media 700KQuicktime 220KQuicktime 450KQuicktime 700KAs previously reported, Warner Music Germany has uploaded the cover artwork for the new SLAYER album, due on July 25 via American Recordings/ Warner Bros. Records. Check it out at this location. SLAYER's still-untitled follow-up to "God Hates Us All", which was released on Sept. 11, 2001, is the group's first new album with their four original members since 1990's "Seasons in the Abyss". In a recent interview with MTV, SLAYER frontman Tom Araya said about the new album, "It's fast — maybe faster than anything we've done before. No one's going to be disappointed. It's going to be brutal." A snippet of a new SLAYER track, entitled "Cult", is available at the band's official web site, www.slayer.net. SLAYER will preview their first album in five years with a five-song EP, "Eternal Pyre", exclusively available at Hot Topic stores. The CD will include "Cult", the lone new song the band plans to play live on the upcoming Unholy Alliance Tour. "Cult" will also be available on iTunes on June 6. The track can be previewed on Slayer.net beginning that day at 6:06 a.m. PST. Araya's two-hour May 5 minor gall-bladder surgery forced SLAYER to suspend the June 6 launch of this summer's Unholy Alliance Tour, which also features LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM and THINE EYES BLEED. The trek will instead kick off June 15 in Camden, New Jersey, and run through July 26 in Denver.

That sounded like Slayer all right. The Slayer that I LOVE. Sounds like the boys are getting back on track with Lombardo back in the fold. Not that I didn't like the stuff with Bostaph, but I predict this will be the best Slayer album since Seasons. I could be wrong on that, but as a Slayer fan for 20 years now I have a feeling all of us fans are in for a great album....

When will Slayer do something that doesn't sound like it belongs in 1986?
I used to love the old Slayer. A lot. But they refused to adapt or change, and as a result, the music has suffered.
I detest what Metallica has become, but at least they did new shit. Not that I like it, but I give them credit for at least trying.
As a fan it pains me to say this, but Slayer is stuck in reverse.

Anyway, the clip sounded awesome. Obviously, they selected the specific part they would show us, but it sure did sound like the thrashy slayer of old.

i really hope the new slayer is fuckin killer.hopefully much better than the last two.
from this footage,the song they're playing sounds kinda thrashy,but fuck the guitars are fuckin weak.hopefully this was their scratch guitars for the drum tracks,cause that guitar sound is not heavy at all.

I realize that most Slayer fans can't handle the changes in the last couple of albums, but at the VERY LEAST....be fucking thankful that Slayer has NEVER changed quite as drasticlly as say...Metallica! The two bands came out around the same time (1981 when both bands formed....1983 when both bands released their debut albums). And just compare the two......you will realize there is no comparison. I am not putting down Metallica, even though a lot of people do. I sometimes wonder if I am the only metal-head alive who can say "Yeah...I like Obituary, Death, Deicide, Dragonlord, Slayer, Iced Earth, Testament, Pantera, Sadus, Fear Factory, Slipknot, Korn, Kiss, Van Halen, Metallica, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Cannibal Corpse, Mudvayne, Forbidden, Vio-lence, Machine Head, Stonesour, the list goes on. I doubt there are many of you that share the same tastes. Let the bashing begin......As I have said before...GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT!!!! I find your feeble insults entertaining and it makes me feel good to create chaos!!

Is it me or does the guitars sound muddy and super weak. I know it's just a rough recording, but it has the same sound as GHUA. They need to go back to the classic SLAYER E flat tuning
With all this super sound technology and recording techniques why can't SLAYER put out an album that sounds better than 1983.
Take some tips from TESTAMENT.

I love both Maiden and Slayer and we need both bands!
Comparing them is stupid and so is dissing them, if you don't like them, you don't like metal, and if you don't like metal, just go somewhere else. I don't get the bashers, they're truly frustrated scum.

Ken, Got a 'science project' for you. You think Slayer can't play guitar properly, and you are so much better. I know a bassplayer and drummer who will help you out by forming a temporary cover band doing Slayer songs. You can play the guitar. Then we can check out whether you can play these songs yourself. I suggest the following setlist. I've purposely included some of the slower songs so it isn't too hard.
1. Ghosts of War
2. Dead Skin Mask
3. War Ensemble
4. Serenity in Murder
5. Circle of Beliefs
6. Hallowed Point
7. Epidemic
8. Angel of Death
9. Altar of Sacrifice
10. Spirit in Black
As Kerry and Jeff are such bad guitarists, this should be easy for you. It won't take you long to learn these songs. Then we can check you out playing them. I'm prepared to bet a couple of hundred bucks that you can't do it. But if you do pull it off, I'll shake your hand and give you the money, no problem. I think that if you do learn these songs, you might give some more meaningful insights into Slayer's music, so that alone will be good.

would I waste my time playing that garbage. I can play chromatic scales thank you very much, I dont enjoy how they sound because a lot of the time, especially in Slayers case, its done to give a song an all to overdone "evil" feel because when you do chromatic runs, you get a lot of tritones.

OK, let's see you play their songs. I very much doubt that you could. But if you prove me wrong, as I said, I'll shake your hand and give you the $200.
If you understood Slayer's music, you would know that they do not always use chromatic scales. For example, can you tell me what scale they use on the solo from 'Skeletones of Society'? And what are the arpeggios Kerry uses at the start of his solo at the end of 'War Ensemble'. Please give me your answer, Ken.

Maiden will never be as good as Sabbath and Sabbath more or less are dead.
Now for the thrash good stuff, Thrash = the best good damn genre ever. So it'd be prettty hard for maiden to be better than
Deth, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Vio-lence, Forbidden, Exodus, etc. OK! These bands (except Vio-lence and as far as i know exodus) have sold out pretty much, but im talking about their good days.
In addition to this, Cult sounds fucking sick. The "Nu Metal" bit at the end, Fucking hell girls, slayer been doing riffages like that b4 nu metal existed. So shhhhhh. Plus, its a sick riff anyway, can't wait to hear how tom puts vocals to that.
