ROB ZOMBIE: 'I Am Not Making 'Halloween 9'' - June 3, 2006
Rob Zombie has shot down rumors that he is in talks with Dimension Films about helming the ninth installment of the "Halloween" franchise.

Fangoria.com reported earlier in the week that Zombie was in line to possibly direct "Halloween 9", which was believed to be a prequel, set before the events of "Halloween 2: Halloween Resurrection", and focusing on the life of serial killer Michael Myers as a young man, before he was placed in a mental institution.

In a June 3, 2006 posting on his MySpace profile, Zombie wrote, "I don't know how this story all got started but I AM NOT MAKING 'HALLOWEEN 9'."

As previously reported, Zombie has added well-known character actor Danny Trejo to the cast of "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto", according to the Hollywood Reporter. Best known for his roles in "Heat", the "Spy Kids" movies and Zombie's own "The Devil's Rejects", Trejo will play Rico, a down-and-out former partner of the title character. The adult-oriented cartoon follows the adventures of El Superbeasto, a "washed-up Mexican wrestler," in the mythical world of Monsterland. Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti will voice the film's villain, while Tom Papa will play El Superbeasto and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, will portray his sister.

"The Haunted World of El Superbeasto" is expected to arrive in 2007. Zombie plans to make an R-rated cut for theatrical screenings and an unrated version for DVD.

El Superbeasto first appeared in Zombie's Spookshow International series of horror comics.

In other news, Zombie will host a new weekly program titled "TCM Underground" on cable channel Turner Classic Movies (TCM). The weekly late-night showcase will debut in October with Zombie selecting and introducing a variety of cult, horror and off-the-wall films.

Zombie's upcoming American Witch Across America tour begins on June 30 in El Paso, Texas. He's also likely to tour with GODSMACK this fall.

I'm glad he's not making Halloween 9. The last one was horrible and I doubt the next one would be any better. I also doubt they would let him put his "style" into the movie. His time would be better spent on something else.

is over rated, I prefer old stuff like maniac, house by the cemetary, suspiria, madman, the mutilator, 3 on a meathook. All 70's, early 80's. Glad to hear rob is not doing this. If he did a remake i think it would be something really obscure. He has already created horror icons of his own with the characters of Otis , Spaulding and Baby.

The Halloween, Nightmare on Elm St., and Friday the 13th franchises are all overrated as fuck. I love other early 80s slasher movies. Madman is the shit. Ive never seen those others you mentioned except for Madman which I didnt really like. But the best horror is the late 70s/early 80s era. I freakin love that stuff.

If your a fan of 70's stuff then you should know Halloween was released in 1978. The original Halloween is better than any movie you could ever like. Rob Zombie is from the MTV generation, if there was no MTV nobody would have watched either of his flicks.

Nightmare on Elm St and Friday the 13th are TOOO overrated. But why Halloween was always my favorite wasnt based on gore or effects but rather the hold story line in its hole. I remmber in H20 when Micheal got his head chopped off everyone cheered in the theater!! I was saying FUCK NO!!! please dont kill him off... Then the crumby online/internet bullcrap movie came and i didnt much like it but was so excited to hear he was back. Everyone saying ohh he died in the last one... I loved how he tricked everyone!! and he finaly got her. you know what im talkin about...

I'd take any of the 1980's Fridays, Nightmares or Halloweens over todays MTV-puff daddy/nelly soundtrack having PG-13 "horror" flicks. Those "overrated" films often times set the standards for gore and FX without using modernized CGI shit that you see in modern movies like Alone in The Dark, etc...Tom Savini's work in Friday the 13th 1 and 4 pretty much rule. Along with Savini's work in Dawn of The Dead 1978.

G@U55 just pointed out what I was going to.....that Halloween:Ressurection was actually Halloween 8.....I don't know where these "experts" get their info.

NO ONE should make another Halloween film unless they hit the points that John Carpenter was so adept at covering: namely, the camerawork & the use of shadows & light to make Michael Myers seem more like an omnipresent evil "force" rather than just a psychopath in a mask. If someone would utilize what made the first one such a classic, then all these sequels wouldn't have sucked so bad! And considering I LOVE the first one, I'm pissed they'll just make another piece of trash!

I would have LOVED to see what Rob Zombie could have done with the franchise. If not him, who else? No one has yet to make a good sequel!

Dude, I thought you stabbed yourself to death in your room during a severe psychotic hallucination!!! I should have known you'd come back!!

And can there be any conversation about good stuff like horror and slasher movies (or anything on this site, for that matter) without someone trying to start an internet standoff? Jeez, some people are misinformed, doesn't make them assholes. Just set it straight and move on!

This is a decent thread, lets try not to ruin it by calling out little typos and mistakes in release dates and shit. I'm really sick of having to sift through the assholes to maintain a decent line of communication here with people who actually want to discuss the topic at hand.

What kind of an asshole would post "HALLOWEEN 2 RESSURECTION"? Halloween ressurection was the eight film not the second. i am a halloween fan and this nonsense pisses me off. here are the halloween movies in order: HALLOWEEN. HALLOWEEN 2, HALLOWEEN 3 SEASON OF THE WITCH, HALLOWEEN 4 THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS, HALLOWEEN 5 THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS, HALLOWEEN 6 THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, HALLOWEEN 7 H20 20 YEARS LATER, HALLOWEEN 8 RESSURECTION.!!.......Well this list i am going to make is irrelevant to the subject at matter buy anyhow i must. Heres a list of great horror movies for all you recent horror fans. "HE KNOWS YOUR'E ALONE" "MADMAN" "MANIAC(special effects and make up by tom savini, really gory film)" wes cravens "THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT". "THE HILLS HAVE EYES(original not the remake. this film is also directed by wes craven.)" dario argentos "SUSPIRIA", "TRAUMA", "APRIL FOOLS DAY", "MOTHERS DAY", "NEAR DARK". " THE RE-ANIMATOR", "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD(original or remake they are both good), "DAWN OF THE DEAD", DAY OF THE DEAD", LAND OF THE DEAD(yes i like all the dead movies. as you can see i am a big fan of george a romero movies) "BRUISER"(not really what i consider horror but good story and cheap thrills)..."EVIL DEAD, "TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE", "SLEEPAWAY CAMP", "HELL HIGH(i must warn you..do not get this movie on dvd, the company that realesed it did a terrible transfer, they cut 5 minutes from the movie unintentionaly) "RETURN TO HORROR HIGH","RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD1,2,3" FRIDAY THE 13TH 1,2,3. "NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET", "HELLRAISER 1, 2. "LEPRECHAUN", "I DRINK YOUR BLOOD" "ISPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" "THE TOOL BOX MURDERS(original) "THE TOOL BOX MURDERS(remake) "CANDYMAN" "TERROR TRAIN" "HAPPY HELL NIGHT" "NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR" "HOUSE ON SORRORITY ROW" Well this list is perpetual so i must stop here. i hope this list helps. im sorry if i have been a nuisance but that was not my intention. and by the way...no i am not crazy!!!!aahhahahahahaahahahahahahahahhahahaahhahahahahaahahahahahahahah

Ya'll ever seen the Premutos series? I only saw the 1st so far and it's boring as fuck when there's no gore, but when there is it's completely over the top and well worth it. It's a German flick with English overdubs and some of the lines are fucking hilarious.
