Metallica is seriosly playing better than they have for a long while. Hetfield is getting his voice back, its agressive again.

The rock am ring show was awesome, and once again proved that no band puts on a performance like Metallica.

Nice I'd guess that means they'll do this for all the escape dates, can't wait for Donnington! Too much Black Album on this setlist, need some more Justice and Kill, and there was nothing at all wrong, with the performance on saturday, yes it wasnt quite as good as the were live c.93 but the set was better, and its the best they have been since 94/95

Last time I saw Metallica they could barely play through Disposable Heroes. They played it slower than the recording. I bet thats the case when they play they play the whole album live.

I wish fucking Pantera was still around. They could show them up and play the whole album of Vulgar Display of Power, or even better Cowboys From Hell. Now that would be the fucking shit. And you know they could all pull it off except for Phil. Goddammit!! The metal world fucking needs Pantera! What a loss.

I saw the first few song of the Rock AM Ring performance on MTV (Fuck MTV(!) for ruining the show with fucking 4 minute commercials btw) and I think it showed the band in a pretty good vibe! They seem more "connected" and vital in their playing than for a long time, Lars actually seemed to be a bit in better shape than last tour, and James singing was, although needs some improvement still, quite awesome. And Kirk, get back at writing solos, dude! St. Anger was, albeit an okay album, pure waste of your talent! But what the hell was up with Rob this evening? He had this ugly grin on his face throughout most of the songs, like as if he was freezing his ass off! lol

let me rephrase:

I rather meant something like "funny face", i.e. Rob had a look on his face almost saying "god damn it's cold here in Germany I wish I'd get in a hot tub!"

"Grin" wasn't the right word for that. My english sucks!

As much as I Love 'TALLICA: Playing entire 20years old albums live is corny. That means the steam has gone, the band has given up. It's like with that 3rd rate BM band from switzerland that puts out a piece of garbage and then atempts to cash in by playing their old thrash metal stuff. Disgraceful.

Who the fuck do you think is a good bass player if Rob Trujillo doesn't fit the bill. The guy practically makes us forget about Jason Newsted. Not that he wasn't good, but he was nowhere NEAR Burton calibre as Trujillo clearly is.
You probably wouldn't recognize a skillful bass player, no matter how good they are.

seriously, i watched that, and for the first time since i got into metallica, i smiled over them. who the hell didnt get into orion.
i've thought the band have been a let down lately, with st anger, with the movie, which showed they had decent songs but they killed it, but this concert has made me a fan again, simply because i saw they had something i didnt think they had musically anymore : Fire

rob is the best thing to happen to this band in a very long time. he studies music as a master degree (seriously), so his passion for music is not unlike cliff, who had a degree in classical music.

his energy has obviously inspired the rest of the band.

fuck you blabbermouthers, stick to the newest "underground" band, who arent underground because you know about them in your little american basement, and keep thinking your cool. btw, the new darkthrone sucks ass. as far as im concerned you seriously are all a bunch of cock hugging dicks who threw away their limp bizkit posters when they relised they werent "tr00", and have their heads so far up their ass they couldnt hear good music unless its played through a 4-track, recorded down the phone and the booklet photocopied to a record company. fuckyou.

Ok i really think anyone doubting this band should watch the Rock am Ring show and actually LISTEN to it. Hammets soloing is almost flawless, which, is the first time ive heard that for years. Hetfields voice is showing vast improvement nowerdays, hes starting to sound like his old self. Lars can still play the songs well, fuck anyone who doubts that, no he aint the best drummer but he can play the songs, i didnt hear 1 fuck up in that show, and anyone who thinks Rob is a shit bassist really doesnt have the first clue about musicmanship.

Rock am Ring '06 truly shows a return to form for 'Tallica, they still put on an immense performance, i had lost alot of hope for them over the last few years but for the first time i watched a Metallica performance which made me smile and left me in awe.

Cool, get back to playing the aggressive stuff more often and you'll find that the fans love it. Very cool. But, don't make the mistake of not putting out a new album in this type of vein as well. Not an album with crap on it.
