METALLICA: More Audience Video Footage Of New Song Posted Online

A better-quality video clip (shot by an audience member, presumably with a phone camera) of METALLICA performing an as-yet-untitled new song during their headlining appearance Tuesday (June 6) at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany has been posted online at YouTube.com. As on the first two dates on the band's current "Escape From The Studio '06" tour, METALLICA played their entire 1986 album, "Master of Puppets", at the Berlin show, including rarely performed tracks such as "Orion" and "Disposable Heroes". The concert's second encore also featured a rendition of the RAMONES classic "Commando", with members of support band AVENGED SEVENFOLD joining in on vocals. "Master of Puppets" came out in the spring of 1986 and was METALLICA's first gold album and mainstream success. It featured staples of the band's live set such as "Battery", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and the title track. It was also the last METALLICA album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed later that year in a tour bus crash. METALLICA will head back into the studio to resume work on their ninth studio effort after completing this summer's festival run.

Hetfield's voice is shot. That's really all you can say. Unless you want to take some cheap shots at Lars receding hairline.
Metallica is like Korn, a shell of what they used to be. You know it's sad but true. Karma is smacking them for fucking with their fans AND touring with bands like Godsuck and Limp Bisquick. Thank god Slayer still rules.

These are METALLICA fans posting videos on YouTube.com. Metallica have always encouraged live concert recording and I highly doubt they would stop their own fans from distributing these clips. But then again you never know with Metallica.

sounds like it could be a first song of the album maybe. Battery is good but it isn't the best on MOP. Kirk's solo and the 30 secs or so after sounds good. yeah the main riff sounds too much like Black for me. It's live too and this is only the 3rd date on the tour so they're gonna be a bit rusty. I'm gonna wait until I hear them on Sat at download and for the new album before I pass judgement

The song is oK but not astounding at all...
But the most shocking part here is the poor, uninspired, minimal and sloppy playing of Lars Ulrich.
He has never stood among the best metal drummers of all time, that's a fact.
But, nonetheless, his playing is getting worse every year. he sometimes manages to completely spoil a song with stupid fills here and there, totally imprecise breaks and terrible doublebassdrums parts...
And if you can't figure it out by yourself, just listen attentively to this "new song".

I actually liked "St.Anger". But I don´t think they should repeat it. ´"Load" was ok but "Re-load" was a disaster. This new song sounds like a throwaway from the "St anger"-sessions. It doesn´t even sound like a complete song. It´s rather crap actyally...

around 3:15-3:20 into the movie, when the guy focuses on the crowd you can clearly see that there is a dude in the first 4-5 rows recording the song on what appears to be a digital camera (??). We should expect that movie also :D...
As for the song, I like the fact they started again soloing... It is a good song, made me expect something from the next album... Who knows...

I saw part of that live concert the other night and one thing I noticed is just how weak the vocals are without Newstead. In fact, during Seek & Destroy, Trujillo kind of growls out the chorus and Hetfield looked over surprised at it ... it was the best they sounded and I certainly hope they start to take advantage of Trujillo more.

For saving be a tenner when the new 'Metallica' album comes out. What a pile of shit, I was bored before the vocals came in a minute and a half after it started! I'm surprised they can still PLAY Mater Of Puppets, or WANT to. To follow up St.Inker with this piece of retarded rubbish is a poisoned dagger stuck into my Tallifan heart. Metallica are dead now.

I think, nowadays, people are overly-critical, too opinionated, and make it seem political. I can only guess that a lack of understanding as well as being spoiled does this to people. Some awesome parts and seriously cool vocal hooks in there, nice to hear Kirk soloing again too.
Everyone is allowed an opinion but some of the stuff said in here is just insane and no i'm not referring to the positive comments either.
If you really think this band is through and can't play/sing or whatever then you really need to watch the Rock am Ring show to prove the contrary. And if you still have doubts then you shouldn't be listening to music with a view to cast an accurate opinion as you havent the first idea of what good musicmanship is.

at this link...you can view a video which plays the opening riff of this song beside one of Dime's from his Damageplan days....sounds pretty familiar (and exactly alike) to me.
Ohh....and god_of_scum...I do have balls, and I do like REAL METAL. Metallica is not metal...they are fucking hard rock at best. It's pretty sad when Strapping Young Lad have more balls and they are considered "joke" metal (not to bash the almighty LAD though, they fucking rule). Sure, Lars is in his 40's, but so is Lombardo, and he can still keep a fucking good tune. Hetfield has lost his voice. And losing your rhythm section and your vocalist is not a good thing for a band to do. They should throw in the towel, simple as that. Become a cover band who plays old metallica songs.

Number one, if you can't use the english language, don't post.
Number two, this song is only more St. Anger shit, with a solo added. The guitar parts, the double bass, the vocal style - ALL of that is on St. Anger. They just added a lead that sounded like it could have come off of any of their albums.

Honestly? Sounds like a song that didn't make it on to St. Anger. I have a feeling (and no, this isn't a new feeling) that we're gonna get St. Anger Pt II with slightly better production values.
St. Anger, along with Load, Re-load, were good for what they were, but they were rock albums, not metal ones. So not metal.

This is a decent song, but not mindblowing by Metallica's standards. I was glad to see the return of the solo, but the rest of it isn't a huge departure from the sound on St. Anger. I hope this song is in its early stages. I'm as big of a Metallica fan as you can find and I think this one is mediocre. I'm hoping for way more on the rest of the album.
