Founding NIHILIST Guitarist Passes Away

According to Tartarean Desire, former NIHILIST guitarist Leif "Leffe" Cuzner recently passed away in Montreal, Canada. Leif was one of the founding members of NIHILIST, the legendary Swedish death metal act he formed in 1987 together with Alex Hellid ( ENTOMBED) and Nicke Andersson ( THE HELLACOPTERS, ex- ENTOMBED). NIHILIST more or less evolved into ENTOMBED over time. After parting ways with NIHILIST, Leif played with another Stockholm-based death metal act called RAPTURE until he moved to Canada in 1990. RAPTURE would later turn into LOBOTOMY.

legend has it that it was Leffe Cuzner that first brought over the damnable foot pedal that produced probably the most famous death metal guitar sound of all time...he just brought it in, cranked all the knobs and let it rip...R.I.P. my brother...Revel In Flesh

Leif was having some problems and tried to check into some kind of psychiatric centre. For some reason, he was refused admittance. He hung himself just outside the centre.

This guy was my Bro we jam the past year and a half like madman preparing a sound that would tear up a asshole in Metal music.Harsh circumstance made him hung imself on a tree in the courtyard of a mental ward.SO EVERYBODY RAISE YOUR FUCKING GLASS FOR ONE OF THE FATHER OF SWEDISH BLACK METAL...SKOLL

Leif left Sweden in 1989. When he got back into music he formed a group in Vancouver BC Canada by the name of Cohiba (yes, the same as the cigar). If anyone has any of Cohiba's recordings I'd love to get a hold of them. Any pictures would also be greatly appreciated. Comments are alsö warmly received.

I can't believe this, I looked for him on Facebook today and saw a group that was a memorial.
I worked with Leif in group homes for years, and we were roommates for awhile. We had many great times together, this makes me so sad.
He was such a quality human being, just a fantastic person to be around. I'm crying as I type this, it's so fucking senseless.
I hope everyone in his family knows how much he was loved, I hope he knew it too.
