Former KISS Guitarist KULICK: I Was Not Asked To Participate In 'VH1 Rock Honors'

Former KISS/current GRAND FUNK RAILROAD guitarist Bruce Kulick has posted a lengthy update on his official web site. A couple of excerpts from his posting follow: "A few weeks after that a band from Finland called LORDI won a huge award in Europe. They are big KISS fans and especially into the era of the '80s that I performed with KISS. I was contacted late last year to be included as a guest soloist on one of their songs. I heard they were popular, but now they are exploding! I played classic 'Revenge'-style licks on the track 'It Snows In Hell', which I think is the next single from their new CD. So I will be getting some nice gold and platinum discs from the group. With technology these days, you don't have even meet the artist, they can just send you via the Internet the track to perform on, go to a studio, and email back! That is so unreal, but you would never know the difference. I hope to meet them in person soon and properly congratulate them. They certainly know how to rock in Finland! "Speaking of awards, I was proud to see KISS so prominently featured as the 'headliner' of the 'VH1 Rock Honors' show. For the record, I was not asked to participate and, truth be told, in the world of make-up-only KISS I am not sure how I could quite fit in. It would have been great to jam with Ace [ Frehley], but I watched the show from my home. My comments... Happy for Ace to be out there with his 'Revenge'-style goatee jamming out on his Blue Sparkle Les Paul, Eric [ Singer] and Tommy [ Thayer] for kicking some serious rock butt, Gene [ Simmons] for spitting and gyrating like a 25-year-old horny beast, and Paul [ Stanley] for singing up a storm. KISS's pyro and bombs were over-the-top amazing and I sat watching in awe saying to myself, 'I used to play with this band! Wow!'" Read Bruce's entire message at Kulick.net.

I am in no way trying to come off as your avarage "kissrules" poster, but to simply write the guy off because he was in Kiss is closed minded and stupid.
I got to meet Bruce in Terre Haute after he formed Union. He was a very cordial and polite guy. We talked for a bit even though there was a huge line behind me. All around a class act.
And his playing on the albums he played on were nothing to sneeze at. Anything from "Revenge" or "Carnival Of Souls" I think is some of his best work put to tape. But that's my opinion.

He should have been there. He had as much right as Eric Singer. Did Eric Carr's parents get a ring as well? If not then it proves my point that the current Kiss is a travesty to say the least.

I now know that I'm dealing with an idiot. Thank you for making that very clear. You have not been in a notable rock band. You do not know what it is like to walk in those shoes. Until you have made a name for yourself in the world of show business, your opinion is shit.
If you had been in a group as famous as KISS, you would be shouting it from every rooftop for the rest of your life. And rightly so. Does this make sense to you?
The fact that you do not like KISS does not diminish thier achievements. Bruce Kulick should be very proud. He "made it" in the rock world, were as people like yourself can only dream of such
a feat.

Its just a matter of opinion. Do i really have to type IMO before every sentence? I look at KISS as being a disgrace to music, a horrible band, and a company that only cares about money. I often get tired of kids on the internet that constantly bitch about bands they don't like, but it's not just the music of KISS i don't like, i disapprove of the whole concept of it.
All of our opinions are "shit" by your definition. So why are we here discussing this? Apparently we are worthless until we've walked a mile in bruce kulicks shoes. He "made it" by joining a corporation called KISS. I don't really respect that.
By the way, if you want to know all of my musical credentials so that I am justified in having an opinion on music, I'll give them to you. I'm a music education major with a minor in trumpet performance. Can i have an opinion yet?

I like alot of bands..from motorhead to iron maiden...heck I still listen to saxon (yes they are still out there and kicking ass)..but kiss is my favorite band and has been since 1978......I think every kiss fan knows they had a period in their career from 1979 to 1982 that was flat-out ugly..the music was horrible, and they were really lame unless you lived in austrailia, or japan and were a 12 yr old female....but they came back around...I have bootlegs of vinnie vincent live..say what you will..but he was awesome..he gave kiss a much more powerful sound..even more powerful than bruce did....just find yourselves some bootlegs of the creatures or lick it up tour...if you know anything about music you'll see what I mean...bruce is great...but too clean for me...he's almost too perfect..too tight for my tastes...vinnie's pick speed is amazing..his solo on doctor love is killer..he makes bruce look slow, and that is no small feat ...not raking on bruce....but vinnie was very under rated....he did alot of work on Revenge which is one of kiss' best albums(according to many rock critics...That being said...vinnie is an asshole, and will never be back in kiss again..he burned too many bridges..not once...but twice....it's a shame..he's very talented...anybody know what he's doing??? is he still playing???..any new albums???
