SEPULTURA Vow To Continue Despite IGOR CAVALERA's Departure

Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA have yet to comment on yesterday's announcement that their drummer and co-founder, Igor Cavalera, has left the group due to "artistic differences." However, according to a posting on the band's official web site, guitarist Andreas Kisser, Derrick Green and Paulo Xisto Jr. have vowed to continue with the group despite this major setback. In the meantime, SEPULTURA's latest CD, "Dante XXI", will receive its long-awaited South American release (featuring two bonus tracks) next month. Tour dates in Brazil and North American are expected to be announced soon.
Igor announced earlier in the year that he was taking a break from the group's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January). Filling in on drums during the band's European tour with IN FLAMES was Roy Mayorga, who played with Igor's brother Max in SOULFLY for several years in the late '90s and again in 2001-2003.
Igor is the second Cavalera to leave SEPULTURA. In 1996, Max Cavalera exited the group after the rest of the band fired Max's wife Gloria as SEPULTURA's manager.
SEPULTURA have now officially selected Jean Dolabella (ex-UDORA) as their new touring drummer following Roy Mayorga's decision to join STONE SOUR as a full-time member.

I know some people have been arguing that Sepultura isn't one person, but still - the band was started by the Cavalera brothers, and it should'nt be called Sepultura without them in it.

Igor will surely join his brother in Soulfly and Roadrunner will put a couple more grands in the band so next Soulfly will have a big production and they'll be succesful while Sepultura will pursuit their downfall and release demo quality sounding albums.

Nation and Against were fairly well produced, but then again, Roadrunner hadn't dropped them yet for those two albums.

Sepultura is one of the few bands to get better with a new lead singer. If Igor wanted Seps to do rap-metal it would suck any way. As for Max, the crapiness of Shitfly speaks for itself. Derrick has pipes, Andreas has peipes, and if Dante is the future of Seps then I say Hell Yeah!

I'm sure that Andreas, Paulo, and Derrick feel they have invested a lot in the Sepultura name (and they have). I feel bad for these guys. Whether right or wrong, their fortunes are going to decrease even more without either of the Cavaleras in the band. I wish them luck, because they are going to need it no matter what they do.

I Haven't really enjoyed the D.G. Years so much until Dante XXI came out. Now that they have their shit together...oh well. They really shouldn't go by Sepultura anymore. Maybe they should just go by Dante XXI from here on out.
Igor can go back with Max and call themselves whatever the fuck they want. They both make good metal.

Andreas, Paulo, and Derrick have got some brass balls to continue under the Sepultura name. its a shame, really. so now what if some day Paulo leaves the band. would Andreas and Derrick still continue as Sepultura? looking ahead, if they do a few more albums, Derrick will have enough seniority in the band to take it over himself if he ever wanted to split from Andreas. regardless which scenario you consider, its silly either way you look at it.

It was over when roots came out I really like that cd but there old stuff like Beneath the Remains through Chaos A.D. where Sepulturas best stuff today there sound just doesnt stand out anymore there is so many bands that sound like them out there it is pathetic way too many low e chugga chugga riffs going on i guess thats why i like alot of european bands most american metal is so monotone and bland Its a trendfucker world over hear come out with something new and fresh sounding then the music companies and mtv put out and play that sound almost exclusively until it is sickening...hell look at metalcore yaaawwnn!

Sepultura will always be as long as Sepultura want it to be. You dont have to like it and they dont have to sell albums on the scale of Roots and certainly dont have to headline shows anymore.
Everyone seems to forget that they are musicians that love what they do. Theyre obviously not making the money they used to, yet are still out there kicking it. Sounds to me they are in it for the music and after all the set backs theyve had recently have shown incredible dedication for it. That in itself deserves respect.
By the way, just because there are no longer any Cavaleras in the band doesnt mean Sepultura cant continue. It's not like they named the band after themselves like Van Halen did. Take Eddie and Alex out of Van Halen and you cant call it Van Halen anymore, but this isnt Cavaleratura.
Derrick has been in the band 10 years, Max was there 12. Derrick has a rightful claim to the name, Paulos been there from the start and Andreas missed only 1 album. Max and Igor have no claim to the name and no say in band business anymore and they wont be back unless Derrick, Andreas and Paulo invite them back.
In the end, you have the choice to like it or not and that will not influence anyone but yourself. I will remain a Sepultura fan and support them in whatever they choose to do.
