Ex-SEPULTURA Drummer IGOR Joins Forces With 'Death Rapper' NECRO In New Project

Former SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera has formed a brand new project with hardcore Brooklyn "death rapper" NECRO. Cavalera had previously appeared on the song "Necrotura" off NECRO's "The Circle of Tyrants" CD. "The news is that myself and Igor have started a band, we will go into the studio in the next month and record demos," Necro told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "We have been planning on doing this for months before he even left SEPULTURA, but now that he has left it seems like the perfect time to let people know about this new project we are working on. "We don't have a band name yet, but we know we want to make some brutal old-school '80s thrash/death metal type of shit in the lines of DEATH, OBITUARY, SLAYER, METALLICA, SEPULTURA, MEGADETH, etc. just to name a few bands that were insane in 1986-1990. " Igor will be playing drums, obviously, I will be playing all rhythm guitar and some leads, as well as the bass, until I find our Geezer Butler/ Cliff Burton. Currently I am that person that can play in that style, so I will handle bass for now. And I will make an attempt at doing the vocals as well. Being I am a highly respected rapper who invented the genres 'death rap' and 'metal hiphop' it shouldn't be an issue, plus for those that just think I am a newjack hiphop guy that doesnt know shit about metal, I was in a band called INJUSTICE when I was just the tender age of 12 years old. We had opened for SEPULTURA and OBITUARY at L'Amour [in Brooklyn] when i was 12, and also did many shows opening for bands like NAPALM DEATH at the Cabaret, SADUS, IMMOLATION, BIOHAZARD and LUDACHRIST. "Not 100% confirmed, but Alex Skolnick [ TESTAMENT] should be doing a lot of the leads on this new project, as he did the leads on the track 'Necrotura', which featured Alex, Igor and Matt Harvey from EXHUMED. there is no way this cat has sold over 200,000 units on his label. most of their fans are in the U.S, and the most number of units shifted by any of psycho-logical release was Ill Bill's album, which sold just over 15,000. the rest of them sold between 5-8,000 at the most.
anyway, this could be interesting. guess we'll have to wait and see.

He had this shit planned to make himself look as a victim. Everyone of us expected a good death metal band instead he chose to do a hiphop metal band. Even worst than nu-metal FUCK. I want to wish good luck to SEPULTURA. I hope that they can release a better album without Igor holding them back. My fucking god iggor. You want to team up with this asshole? I checked out his myspace stuff, and to call it shit it is understatement. Nothing to be proud of if you made "death rap" or"metal hiphop". The only successful band IMO who could ever fuse metal with hip hop was RATM.
If skolnick gets involved though, this could be alright. I'm actually looking forward to sepultura now, considering their nu metal influence has dissapeared

Say what you will, but many elements of Metal come from Rock N Roll, which comes from Jazz which as you know comes from the Blues.
The cold and harsh reality for you 12 year old elitist metal newbies is.....
Virtually every metal band has an element of rap music in it.
Witness Slayer.......
Vocals- yelled rhythmically in time to the music with little or no melody is..... (gasp) RAPPING!!!
Same goes for everybody else from rock to country to new metal to death metal.
All of em rap. Think about it.

Oh not to mention Slayer is produced by Rick Rubin (LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Run DMC)

Sepultura is already nu metal now in the first place, which is probably why Igor left. And for most of the people bashing this saying it's gonna be nu metal, read the whole fucking thing before you post, he said himself it's going to be old-school thrash/death. Or maybe you're just assuming it's going to be nu metal because he's a rapper which is an equally retarded assumption. The guy might be cocky but he knows his metal and he's actually involved in the metal underground and not just some 16 year-old twat that just picked up a Slayer or Bodom and bashes everything to go with the crowd.

Not once does it mention its going to be a Nu Metal or Rap band. It says "old-school '80s thrash/death metal" and untill I hear it im willing to believe so. There would be no point in creating a project if it was going to be the same as Necro's stuff but with Igor on the drums.
Heard that Injustice demo a while ago and was rather impressed, funny thing is Necro was in a metal band opening of sepultura before half of the idiots on here where born, what where you doing when you was 12 eh?
The sooner people open their minds and relise you dont just have to be interested in metal or just rap or just techno the better.

I was at that Sepultura/Obituary show at L'amour that he mentioned...I only vaguely remember the band name "Injustice," but then I was probably at the bar while the local openers were onstage and wasnt' payin attention :)
By the way, Obituary totally cleaned Sepultura's clock that night, blew'em right off the stage... and I was never even a big Obituary fan

Kiding aside, I'm sure this is just for Iggor to keep busy while he's not involve in anything serious. Because this band can't be serious Skolnick will do the next Testament probably tour with them too so this band is like a side project. But I'm pretty sure that Iggor will be on the next Soulfly and it will be the closest thing from Arise will hear. And that's about what Iggor try to reach with this band look at the name dropped that's pretty much the blend of those band that result in Arise.

You were the creative force in Sepultura but God know that Andreas was the one who structured your ideas into great song and now you've been lucky enough to find another shredder as strong as Kisser so don't fuck up! Convince Iggor to play with you again and hire DiGiorgio that way you would have one of the strongest metal rythm section and focus on what you are best at i.e. thrash/death riffs. We never got bored of Beneath The Remains and Arise but I can't say the same about Chaos and Roots.

Necro is fuckin awesome, he may be a rapper but he is a true metalhead at heart, Away, Brutal Truth, Shane from Napalm Death all on Pre-fix for death, kickass album, you guys gonna give him shit for being a rapper your just close minded losers.
