PARADISE LOST: We Are 'Not A Support Band' For OPETH

British heavy rockers PARADISE LOST have issued the following statement regarding their upcoming U.K. tour with OPETH:
"There seems to be a lot of confusion on various forums about this forthcoming OPETH/PARADISE LOST tour. PARADISE LOST is NOT a support band for OPETH, they are special guests and therefore will be playing a full one-hour set. Not 30, or 40 minutes as some people assume."
PARADISE LOST will be the "special guests" at the following OPETH U.K. dates:
Nov. 05 - Portsmouth, UK @ Pyramid
Nov. 06 - Glasgow, UK @ ABC
Nov. 07 - Nottingham, UK @ Rock City
Nov. 08 - Manchester, UK @ Academy
Nov. 09 - London, UK @ Roadhouse
Nov. 10 - Birmingham, UK @ Academy
Nov. 11 - Exeter, UK @ Great Hall
PARADISE LOST's latest album, entitled "Paradise Lost", was released in the U.S. last November via Abacus Recordings. The CD features the regular 12 tracks and two bonus tracks taken from the limited-edition "Forever After" EP.
"Paradise Lost" was recorded primarily at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England under the guidance of producer Rhys Fulber (FEAR FACTORY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY). The follow-up to 2002's "Symbol of Life" is the group's first CD to feature drummer Jeff Singer (ex-BLAZE).

I've never gotten along with the guys in Paradise Lost. They're too arrogant in my opinion.
Personally? I'd rather hang with the fun Swedes in Opeth. Mikael Akerfeldt and I went to elementary school together. What a fucking bad ass.

Does nobody think before they post? Paradise Lost clarified this not to appease their egos, but to assure their fans that PL are playing a full 60 minute set. Believe it or not, there are people who like Paradise Lost but not Opeth, and some of those people might not want to buy a ticket for the show if they think PL are playing 30 minutes. This clears the air and gets more people to buy tickets. What's so wrong about that? Is Blabbermouth just a collective hole for the brainless netizens of metal?

I agree. Paradise Lost should have stopped flogging their dead horse years ago and started new careers in pizza delivery.
There's a certain shame in a band who are 10 years past their sell-by date who still think they can mix it with the big boys. They should be supporting Magnum, not Opeth.

THe last PL album IS one of their best for sure...love these guys.
Opeth bores me now sadly..even if I used to be a fan. THeir last album is also one of their best..but it's still boring compare to PL..and yes, I like prog music..so don't even go there ;)

Paradise Lost predates My Dying Bride and are one of the pioneering bands of Gothic Metal, leaving their impression upon dozens of bands within the years of their existance.
Opeth are a metal band that combines jazz elements into their music, no differently than what Atheist did many years ago.
Point goes to PL.

EVERYONE can chat with them on their forum (look for nicknames: dr. holmes, greg, aaron) - they're approachable as anyone else (Yngwie used to answer questions on his website though).
All this situations is not so simple as it looks like - despite the fact their last album received very good reception overall, sales are terribly low and musicians seem to feel some kind of, well... frustration - they're all just human - I can understand this. And I agree with 'Sinned': they may just want to cut off the speculations about the length of their show.
And sth about band bashers - when no one cares what's their music taste like - why even bother sharing it with the others?
I mean, i.e. - no one cares I love PL and don't even know any single Opeth's song
And sth about someone called 'teapot' or sth - he looks so predictable and boring - I may be wrong, he's just trying hard to be in the middle of the topic - just ignore him
