KORN Frontman Itching To Get Back On Stage

Jonathan Cohen of Billboard.com has issued the following report: KORN's Jonathan Davis is happy to be alive after a recent near-fatal bout with a blood infection, and he's itching to get back on stage. "I feel good, but I feel like I want to jump out of my skin," he told Billboard.com by phone from his Los Angeles home, where he will rest until the July 27 start of KORN's Family Values tour. As previously reported, Davis was rushed to a London hospital earlier this month after developing the blood disorder immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), forcing KORN to scrap the rest of its European tour. "We had just done a show in Hamburg, Germany," Davis recalls. "I was on the bus and noticed all this bruising all over my body. It wasn't bad, just here and there, but I was like, what the hell? Anyone with an honest opinion about this band knows that everything they have released since Follow the Leader is crap. Their first couple albums were great but now as a band they are a joke. They should know when to quit.

I'm glad to hear Jonathan feels better now.
As for most of you that have posted and for most of the posts that will follow mine: Nobody cares how much you "hate" Korn's music. That's irrelevant to the issue at hand. To wish more suffering or even death on Jonathan Davis, or ANYONE who would ever find themselves in his situation, signifies that you are one truly fucked up individual.

You take time away from playing Warcraft online or Everquest or whatever the fuck it is you do and bash on one of the most productive and original metal bands of the last 15 years. Korn may suck now but back in the ST/Life as Peachy era they were tearing shit up and all you bashers were probably fans. Say what you want but old Korn was better than any metalcore band out today (that includes Trivium, Avenged Suckfold, Shadows Fall, Killswitch).
Dont hate them just because they spawned a genre that went to complete crap. I agree what nu-metal became was a joke and it needed to die, but old Korn was the shit and if they were still that heavy you all would be kissing their ass to this day.

Not to flat out "bash" Korn, they had some early success and had some potential.
But they have been "try-hards" for quite sometime now.

...I have to admit that Korn hasnt put out any decent music in quite some time. This being said, some of their earlier work was not that bad. Its still baffles me how many people judge music just by the category they put it in. For me its all about what sounds good to "Me", not whether it is Nu Metal, Old Metal, Black Metal, Blue Metal...or whatever. I seriously doubt a lot of you who bash music rarely even take the time to listen to it before judging it. And as for making jokes regarding someones health, well what goes around comes around, and bad karma is a motherfucker!

Ghost Rider said exactly what i was trying to say. Dont judge music by the genre. Judge it by what you like to hear.
And if Trivium is more metal because they play solos I could care less. Just because you have solos in your music does not mean you are a good band or more metal than someone else (for example: Dream Theater, Poison, Queensryche, corny ass 80s music)
If someone else thinks Korn is metal or not means nothing to me. I still think their old albums rock harder than Trivium.
And about saying you shouldnt care for a band who only their old stuff is good. Ever heard of Metallica? They made 4 of the greatest metal albums of all time. Just because they are rich rockstars now and they forgot how to write good music doesnt mean I should stop listening to their old albums.
Ozzy hasnt written any worth a damn in 20 years but that doesnt stop me from listening to my Diary of a Madman cd or Black Sabbath albums. Are you trying to say I should disregard every good band that puts out a bad album?
Korn or Metallica could put out a new album about having gay orgies and that still would not keep me from liking their old music. Say your homophobic jokes. I still liked Judas Priest after Halford came out of the closet and they released those 2 crap albums with that other singer.

I remember Korn from back in 94 up through Woodstock 99. They were fucking incredible. I saw them a few months ago at KROQ's acoustic Christmas, and they were horrible. The only reaction from the crowd was when they played Shoots and Ladders and Blind. Crowd reaction doesn't lie. Watch the video from Woodstock 99, it was bedlam. Their new music doesn't even come close.
I will give credit where it is do, however, the first album is in my top 5 heavy metal albums of all time. Right up there with "Reign in Blood", Slipknot's First, Ride the Lightning, and "The Great Southern Trendkill/Vulgar Display of Power" can't pick from those two.

Scar Symmetry I think someone gives a shit about Metallica old stuff since just about every metalcore band out today cites Metallica as an influence.

Take a well deserved bow PROGRAMTHEDEAD. As far as Im concerned anybody who ever bashes Korn on this site again simply needs to view PROGRAMTHEDEAD's post. There isnt a single one of these little 17 year-old, spineless, scene-kids on this site that can rationally prove that post wrong. This is exactly what people dont get when they view this band. They dont see just how much this band has done for music NOW. Usually because the statements made are by people who have not researched their conclusions. This group has reinvented themselves over and over again and have kept, for the most part, the same fan base. The same base that formed from one of the most powerful METAL movements of all time (and yes girls I did say METAL movement not NU-METAL because that was something Best Buy and Rolling Stone magazine came up with to classify bands. Get over it...it was never real. And since when have real metal fans sided with journalistic terms from pop music magazines???) Im not saying they are Black Sabbath or anything but, any person who has seen them live or really listened to what they do CAN NOT deny this bands impact on metal today. It is almost as important to what Metallica has done. And for the record....just because a band has older material that is more impressive than their current material DOES NOT mean that they dont get credit now for what they have done in the past. Its really sad that so many fans of metal are so fuckin narrow minded. PROGRAMTHEDEAD: well done and i promise that post just put a nail in the coffin of this thread....with the exception of mine anyways.

All metal and most hard rock has to do with angst or teen angst. As the saying goes "all music is the blues."
I have a friend who bashes Korn all the time saying they have no talent. One of his favorite bands is Dream Theater, a band that I heard no emotion in whatsoever. Just mindless shredding and technicality. To me Korn is much more creative and original because Dream Theater just sounds like every other 80s sounding prog-metal band that exists. At least Korn were trying something different, using their guitars to make ambient noises instead of trying to play the tightest riff or the most intricate solo.
I know many people who diss Korn saying they have no talent because they dont play solos. That is retarded. Solos do not matter. The Beatles didnt need solos in every song to be good. They knew how to write good music and didnt need to show off their technical skills to prove anything. Like said above music is about trying to convey an emotion that people can relate too.

What talent do you have besides being able to jerk off 8 times in five minutes and still being able to apply enough pressure to your moms forehead to prevent her from licking you sterile boy-juice of your naughty place without blacking out?? I laugh at people who play on KoRn sterotypes as to why they suck.
They're an amazing band and have a very loyal dedicated fan base, and always will. And yes, Meat, Munky started to do these solos on the last tour. He plays a really long solo and it is amazing.
