AC/DC: Classic Albums Reach New Sales Heights - June 23, 2006
Two classic AC/DC albums have reached new sales heights as of May 25, 2006, according to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). The band's 1979 album, "Highway to Hell" — the last studio release to feature late frontman Bon Scott — has been certified septuple platinum for sales in excess of seven million copies in the United States. Meanwhile, 1990's "The Razor's Edge" has passed the five-million mark in the U.S., earning it quintuple-platinum status.

AC/DC's "Back in Black" album was certified last year for U.S. shipments of 21 million copies, tying it for fifth place with BILLY JOEL's "Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & II" on the Recording Industry Assn. of America's all-time best-sellers list.

AC/DC are expected to begin recording their next studio album in the U.K. later in the year. The group's last album, "Stiff Upper Lip" (2000), was recorded at the Warehouse studio (owned by Bryan Adams) in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

Really, if you want to get technical, that Billy Joel album only sold 11.5 million copies. It's a double-album, and the RIAA goes by how many actual discs--NOT albums--are sold. So...Billy Joel has sold 11.5 million copies of that greatest hits album, but the album has two discs.

is best! Screw the rest. They do not record the new album because they are having trouble with their parent companies. I.e. Sony and Warner (I think!).

Album will come out as soon as they fix this. AC/DC has said the delay is out of their control.

That' s true by the way. On " Back in black " Brian Johnson actually sings. On " Stiff upper lip " he doesn' t sing anymore. On the new record, he will probably just whisper. And is that a problem ? Well no I don' t think so, the AC/DC fans just don' t care.

It would be nice if they worked with producer Rick Rubin again who produced their Ballbreaker album which I thought was one of their best with Brian Johnson. The 1983 album Flick Of The Switch is their most underrated album, none of the songs off it ever get airplay. The same with the Powerage album, Down Payment Blues, What's Next To The Moon, and Gimme A Bullet are all excellent songs off of it. Let There Be Rock is also a great AC/DC album. Hope they come back heavier than ever with some hunger next album around!

I agree with nwa75.

Also, Highway to Hell is a great album, but The Razor's Edge is terrible and one of their worst. How it sold 5 million I don't know.

Anti Christ Devils Children!
I would really like to see them do "Rock N Roll Singer" live next tour, that would be great!! Also some other songs they rarely play like "Gone Shootin'", "Evil Walks", "Have A Drink On Me", "If You Want Blood", "This House Is On Fire", Have A Drink On Me", "Up To My Neck In You", etc.
Great band, Heavy Metal pioneers! They earned their success!!

"That's true. Unfortunately, they haven't released a good album since 1983."

What? Im a massive AC/DC fan, and have been all my life. Obviously the Bon Scott era was far superior. (Let There Be Rock, was one of thier finest albums) However, you cant tell me nothing of thier's has been good since 1983.
Ballbreaker was a phenominal album for a Brian johnson LP, and highly underrated. Razors Edge was pretty damn good too, It did produce one of thier best "Johnson" era tracks. (Title Track, "Razors Edge")
Stiff Upper Lip was avrage, but they even said, they wanted to make that album with more of a Blues Feal, which they acomplished.

Plus, I read someone up there say that Angus was Overrated.
When it comes to angus, its not "What" he is playing, but more "How" he is playing it. His tone is nothing short of amazing and you would be hard pressed to find a rock&roll guitar Player that sounds as "Crisp" as Angus.
All the doubters, go listen to "Show Buisness" off of '74 Jailbreak.
