METALLICA: First European 'Escape From The Studio '06' Concerts Available For Download

According to a posting on METALLICA's official web site, the first five shows from the band's European "Escape From The Studio '06" tour are now available for download via the LiveMetallica.com web site. "Check out Berlin with the first-ever performance of 'The New Song' or maybe Donington, which includes a performance of 'Nothing Else Matters' with Jerry Cantrell [ ALICE IN CHAINS] on vocals," the posting adds. "All five shows have the complete 'Master of Puppets' album played live and of course each show has its own unique vibe and local flavor. Look for the rest of the 'Escape from the Studio' European tour by the end of the week." The following METALLICA "Escape From The Studio '06" shows are currently available for download: Jun. 03 - Rock Am Ring Festival - Nurburgring, GER Jun. 04 - Rock Im Park - Nurnberg, GER Jun. 06 – Waldbuhne - Berlin, GER Jun. 08 – Gelredome - Arnhem, NETH Jun. 10 - Download Festival - Donington, UK For more information, visit Metallica.com. During a June 13 press conference preceding their performance at Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in Estonia, METALLICA's James Hetfield said that the songwriting sessions for the group's forthcoming album are "coming along exactly as [they] should. We're not rushing too much. [We're] taking our time. We want this to be just really good. We have a lot of material, which is better than the other way around. We're going to be [at it] a little while. Rick Rubin is the producer, who's done very amazing things with people. So we're pretty excited about his input." Drummer Lars Ulrich recently told BBC Radio 1 that the band's new album's going to be in stores in the summer or early fall of 2007. "I think we've realized that the creative process works a little slower for us than it used to, and we're OK with that," he said. "It's not a bad thing, unless, of course, you're waiting for a record."

Metallica wasn't upset simply because people were downloading their stuff.. Napster was hosting a song that was leaked from the studio ( I disappear) and they refused to take it down. I would have taken the same route in their situation.

ST ANGER wasn't the best standard Metallica album, but every Metallica album always deliver something worthy, even if it's not "And Justice for all" good, it's still something. St. Anger was a full album (where's the solo) and on top they added kickass artwork with lyrics and the integral album on DVD... It's not great but it's something...
Are they done? I think they should have put the Legacy aside and create a side project. Same with GNR--fuck it, just sit on the band's name and create a side project for fuck's sake.

old albums in full. Thats what the fans want and is what the casual fan can stomach. I wish all bands would do this, a great idea done by Dio and Slayer who havent made good albums for 22 years and 16 years respectively. Metallica is a classic rock band as much as all the 70's bands out playing the hits (through in def leppard too)

when you go to a metallica show....the anticipation of the show begin is almost unbarable.....then the lights go down.....and the intro"exstacy of gold" begins.....the crowd begins to sway like tree's in a hurricane...and they begin to roar like a freight train going top speed....the music begins and all hell breaks loose,dodging crowd surfer's feet....i have been to hundreds of concerts,and i'm in great shape....and a metallica gig is the only one i have been to where your just exausted after....i have scene some of the hardest bands ever live......and none have stuck in my memory more then the 18 times i have scene metallica....justice for all tour 1989 beggining of summer....first concert i ever went to 13 years old....front row center......that was the best concert i have ever scene......i have had the privledge of meeting everyone from the band minus cliff r.i.p.....and they were really nice guys,they don't forget who got them where they are....it wasen't radio,it wasen't m.t.v.....it was the 100% diehard metalli-cats....this band desrves all respect,they earned there fame the hard way....playing from here to bum fuck egypt....check out some old school metallica tour stops....preferebly the black tour ...i think it was close to 400 gigs.....and most were sell-outs........not many bands can do this....and to sell a 100 million heavy metal albums in 27 years that is something you got to respect....to all you haters,i don't understand wy you diss this band.....they are the reason wy this music still exist......i have nothing but love and re3spect for this band......they are the soundtrack to my life....and i thank them for that..................

I love livemetallica.com, gigs are cheap and the quality's great there. I got the old Download live gig with Lombardo, Jordison and Flemming Larsen filling in for Lars and other interesting stuff.
I'll get some of those gigs as well, not the Rock Am Ring one though, I've got that on video already. And I paid nothing for it.

how can anyone seriously doubt metallicas importance to metal/rock/whatever over their entire career...reload was poor, st anger was shit, but 2 out of 8 studio albums aint a bad thing, especially when they still lead the world in live shows and pull off with great esteem projects like s&m
plus to all you other twats, these guys are offering you the option of live dvds of all their gigs since 2003 at almost half what just one slayer dvd costs in the shops, so that you can see the ones you want to watch, they havent just peiced together a collection of 'good' bits from random shows and made you pay £20 for it!
these guys love their fans, shame some people are too blind to see how amazing it is to still have metallica around

erm if you did your research you'll find tallica make the minimum amount of profit from touring, they plough it all into making sure its a genius spectacle and getting big (though often shit) bands to play with them
how much do you think it costs them to get every gig recorded in the quality they are? most bands are only able to do it once or twice a career, tallica do it everyday
