SEVENDUST To Begin Recording New Album Next Week
- June 27, 2006
|
|
|
SEVENDUST will enter an Atlanta-area studio on July 5 to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Next", tentatively due late 2006/early 2007 through an as-yet-undetermined label. The band have completed about 15 songs musically and are currently working on vocal melodies and lyrics, the group revealed Monday night (June 26) during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline". The first album to feature new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT) as part of the songwriting process will contain some of "the heaviest" material SEVENDUST have penned to date, according to the band.
SEVENDUST announced in April that they and their wholly owned record label 7Bros. Records have officially parted ways with the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records. The band inked a deal with WineDark in early 2005 after a lengthy stint with TVT Records. 7Bros. Records continues its distribution through Fontana/Universal Music in North America and Roadrunner/Universal Music throughout the rest of the world.
SEVENDUST were recently forced to cancel several U.S. tour dates due to a broken bone in the left hand of guitarist John Connolly.
"Next" marked the recording debut with the band of Mayo. Sonny joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December 2004, citing "personal issues."

Now it's gay. I used to love these bastards when I was like 18...seen em' like 10 times. THe last few have definitely been a disappointment, considering Clint was one of the best ones live. Now it's "Just watch Morgan"

Honestly, this band has the worst luck in the world, but they never quit. Hopefully they can get a major label this time and really promote this record.
See this band live, it's an unforgettable experience.

You guys are fucked up for direspecting one of the best bands of the last ten years. I find it ironic that SOAD, Staind, GOdsmack, Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit, and even awful Powerman 5000 could sell tons of records after sharing a stage and 7dust never caught a break. JJ French screwed them so bad that after they toured for a year with Metallica and they were flat broke. If I were them I continue were Next left off and keep it heavy. If they didn't have a hit with Angel's Son or Hurt they never will now. A damn shame.

can change the funk this band is in since Clint left, or **cough**was fired. They sealed their coffin with that change I think. If anyone could make it better, it might be Sonny.

This band is easily one of the best around, and put on some of the greatest live shows. I also saw them with Nonpoint, both of which blew me away.
Sonny is a great guitarist, so I have faith in him that he can help put this band back where they need to be. Next was a good album, but not great. I hoping the new album will be more along the lines of the heaviness of Home or Animosity, maybe even heavier. No matter what, I'm looking forward to it. A late 06 release would be nice, but I want them to take their time on it, since Next only came out in October.

Sevendust is, well, they are obviously very talented. It just seems that no matter how hard they try they can never reach to the mainstream audience. Which is sad because I have seen a lot of bands live and they are definitely in the top 3 as far as the show, music, and energy goes. I think 7d need to find something and stick with it instead of constantly re-doing everything. During Home and Animosity they were reasonable known, but ever since their lighter change with seasons and their low-budget Next, they really haven't had much said about them. Most radio stations don't even carry their singles anymore.

I agree with you Deathtrendsetta. I think they are very great song writters. And, to me I think they are heavy metal. They had ALOT of great success at my old radio station back in FL when the Seasons came out. Hell, I got to meet them. Very great guys. They always seem to reach just a little bit of commercial success. But, they still havent found that 1 song that will take them to it. Because, I think they deserve it.

Sonny Mayo will help them return to making good heavy music. I didn't like Next, but Clint wrote it so I haven't totally lost faith in em yet.
